Graham: House Needs 'Joint Select Committee' On Benghazi

by JASmius

Don't get me wrong, folks, I agree with Senator Grahamnesty on this.  All the GOP can do is go through the motions available to them, and by all means they should exhaust every last one.  But understand that this constitutes Titanic deck-chair-reshuffling:

The White House is blatantly lying about its role in the Benghazi cover-up now that a "smoking gun" email has been bared — and a special House committee must be created to dig out the truth, Senator Lindsey Graham says.

"We need a joint select committee in the House," the South Carolina Republican told "The Steve Malzberg Show'' on Newsmax TV.

"[White House Propaganda Liason Jay Carney] is misleading the public and clearly he's lying."

Yes, he is.  He knows it, the press knows it, we know it, everybody knows it.  But Carney's is the only permissible version of the incident.  The four American deaths in Benghazi 597 days ago officially never happened - a tune they are never going to change.

"Let's call Ben Rhodes, the author of the document, and ask him what it was about and use common sense.

And he'll spout the same official party line that Carney did.

Do you think they were worried about property damage to the embassy in Cairo from a protest? No. they were worried about the four dead Americans in Benghazi," Graham said.

That officially never happened.

"What did Susan Rice get asked about on Sunday television? Benghazi and the four dead Americans. The third goal of the email is to reassure the American people that we will bring those to justice who harmed Americans. Well, nobody was harmed other than Benghazi so the document itself clearly demonstrates they were worried about Benghazi.

"To suggest otherwise is insulting and disrespectful, but that's the way they've been. And they've generally got away with it."

Aaaaaaaand they'll continue to get away with it.  A Select Committee On Benghazigate will do nothing to change that.  The flippant Obamedia clip at the start of the vid proves it.  I'll say it again: Without a media campaign, you do not have a scandal.  Period.  How will a Select Committee force the press to cover this?

Graham believes Democrats have no plans to dig further into Benghazi, which is expected to be a hot-button issue for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton should she run for president in 2016.

"It's sad, really, that our Democratic friends for the most part seem to have no interest in trying to uncover [the truth] about how four Americans died in the line of duty seven weeks before an election," he said.

"Sad"?  Try inevitable.  Why would they cooperate in a balls-to-the-wall effort to uncover their own demigod's scandal that makes him a passive accessory to the murder of four Americans by our archenemies?  I'm really hoping that that quip was rhetorical more than attempted observation.

But the "our Democratic friends" endearment renders it forlorn.  Get this through your thick skull, Senator: The Democrats are not your "friends".  Not of you, nor anybody else who isn't a Democrat.  They are your, your party's, and your country's bitter, declared enemies.  Until ALL elected Republicans accept this reality and finally engage in this heretofore little-opposed and now all but hopeless battle for America's soul, all a Select Committee on anything will accomplish is to spin our wheels a little bit faster.

UPDATE: Looks like a House Select Benghazigate Committee is in the works - and guess who's gonna chair it:

The details of the exact structure of the special committee are still under discussion, but a source tells the Weekly Standard that Representative Trey Gowdy, a lawmaker with a reputation for tough questioning of administration witnesses, is under consideration to chair it.

It still won't accomplish anything. But with Trey Gowdy wielding the gavel, it'll be anything but dull.
