Jeb Bush Swiping Chris Christie Donors

There's something almost mesmerizing about this RINO-fight in the making that is taking place in a bubble of "establishment" unreality:

Deep-pocketed GOP donors are in a quandary about whose coffers to fill in the 2016 presidential race, the New York Times reports.

Aaaaaaand there would be the source of the sense of unreality.  The house propaganda organ of the American Left doesn't want there to be even a parallel quantum reality contemplated where the Tea Party exists, where anybody but RINOs serve as the ruling Democrat Party's token "Washington Generals"-like JOB Squad opposition.

So, let's indulge them:

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was comfortably atop the GOP field, garnering support from various factions of the party.

Of course, there isn't any "GOP field" yet.  This was the New York Times doing its part to prepare its enemies' "field" before its enemies could so that the tomato can candidate of its choice could pre-empt the entire Republican nominating process.  A gambit that usually succeeds.

However, in this case that gambit overlapped with another cherished lefty reflex, the lust for smearing and destroying GOP officeholders:

Then the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal broke, raising questions about his ability to win the nation's top office.

Despite Bridge-gate, the Times said donors felt they had no viable alternative,  so they had to gamble that Christie would be able to rehab his image.

Yay, we brought down another fat Nazi fascist bastard!.....But wait, he was set up as low-hanging fruit for Hillary - NOW what are we gonna do?

Desperate answer?  Go back to the Bush well for a third time:

Enter Jeb Bush, popular former Republican governor of Florida, a large swing state, who's also brother and son of presidents.

Bush has been evasive about his intentions for 2016, but momentum began building in recent weeks as he started to appear more serious about considering a run.

He's serious about plugging his latest book, not running for president.  Even Jeb has to be at least dimly aware of how little the country, much less the GOP base, wants another Bush Dynasty sequel.

But the New York Times sure as hell does:

This puts donors in an awkward spot. Many of them credit the Bush family — a golden name in GOP circles — with giving them their entree into politics

"They love the Bush family," said Barry Wynn, former chairman of the Republican Party in South Carolina as well as a George W. Bush fundraiser. "They love the whole package, and they feel Jeb is just a part of the package."

These are the "GOP donors" that are on friendly, hob-nobbing at Manhattan cocktail parties, secular dhimmi terms with....well, the animals that run the New York Times.  And they are manifestly a minority in the Republican Party as a whole.

And that gives me - provided Barack Obama (1) allows a 2016 election and (2) doesn't run himself - augmented hope for that campaign, because the level of self-delusion that is swamping the Left in ever escalating waves tells me that they will never see Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker coming, and that a twenty-first century sequel to the Reagan Revolution might actually be a bona fide possibility.

Or not.  Forgive me, when I wade too far into optimism, I start getting the bends.
