Not that we didn't already know this, but it's most cathartic to be reminded of it:
The former roommate of Bowe Bergdahl — the U.S. Army "sergeant" traded for five Taliban militants — says the government knew very well he was a traitor when they were making the controversial swap.
"They have all the documentation on it. The administration knew he deserted, they knew he wasn't a hero,'' retired Army Specialist Cody Full told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"They knew that he wasn't captured on a battlefield or lagged behind on a patrol. They knew he went out and deserted on his own.''
Naturally. It's the only reason the Afghan Taliban didn't summarily behead him like all the other U.S. personnel they capture. It's why O sent command-level Army officers to provide Berghahl's hippy-dippy, jihadi-symp, hardcore dhimmi parents regular briefings and updates on their baby "holy warrior's" status. Much like Ahmed Abu Khattala, this "poor, misguided lad" was an overseas propaganda asset that he kept "holstered" until he needed to whip him out for a dazzlingly sparkly distraction.
Full angrily disagreed with National Security Advisor Susan Rice's declaration that Bergdahl had served his country with "honor and distinction."
"Deserting is not serving with honor and distinction and it's a spit in the face to every U.S. service member who has served with honor and distinction, who has fulfilled his oath. It's disgusting,'' Full said.
A mere misunderstanding, Specialist. What NSA Rice should have said was that "Sergeant" Bergdahl had served his ruler with "honor and distinction". And the Taliban, of course. But since, in totalitarian dictatorships, no distinction is made between a country and its ruler, she was simply eliminating unnecessary verbiage. Besides, any further elaboration would have required her to roll out her prayer rug, and evening prayers were still hours away at that point.
He criticized the fanfare surrounding the Obama administration's announcement of the deal, which was highlighted by an event in the Rose Garden of the White House in which Bergdahl's family attended.
"[It] is gross. I mean how many soldiers that have given their lives honorably for this country, how many of their parents had a Rose Garden ceremony?'' he asked.
Now you misunderstand, Specialist. Bowe Bergdahl is not a traitor to this country; you, and all of us, are traitors to his ruler, and therefore, the country, by not celebrating his "honorable and distinctive service," by opposing his demigod on any issue in the slightest degree, by stubbornly persisting in believing in the defunct constitutional federal republic in which we grew up and everything it stood for, and by refusing to bow down and idolatrously worship Godbama.
That's how the White House sees it, anyway. And if they even notice your interview - which you'd better hope and pray they don't - they'll laugh heartily at your righteous indignation, because that's precisely the spluttering reaction they so delight in eliciting. You know why? Because they know it is borne of helpless impotence, an instinctive realization that this is just another in-our-face end zone celebration in the fourth quarter of a blowout game in which we are hopelessly behind.
Full said a congressional oversight committee should be formed to further explore how Bergdahl's actions led to his captivity by terrorists.
"I don't want to see this get whitewashed,'' he said.
Specialist, if the House formed a Select Committee for each of Barack Obama's scandals, nobody on that side of the Hill would be doing anything else. Which wouldn't be a bad idea, come to think of it, but there'd also be the problem of the need for thousands of Representatives to handle the workload instead of the current 435, and I'm dubious of King Hussein granting that reapportionment petition.
As to why the swap was made, Full is clueless.
"I don't know why it was done, I have no idea…. It's just wrong on so many levels,'' he said.
