Kerry Admits Russian Missile Took Down Flight MH-17

by JASmius

Wow, that was a quick "investigation"; I'm guessing Lurch decided to cheat and crib Fox News's notes:

[Commissar] of State John Kerry on Sunday said an "enormous amount of evidence" points to Russia providing antiaircraft missiles and training to pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine who shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

Kerry also said U.S. intelligence agencies "saw the launch" of a missile from rebel-held territory just as the passenger plane vanished from radar.

Kerry's accusations came as international horror deepened over the fate of the victims' remains.

As we can take it for granted that the Boston Balker didn't want to make any such accusations, we can safely conclude that this latest crisis has rapidly reached a sufficiently high-rolling boil that the Obama Regime feels compelled to pretend that they give a damn about it for public consumption.

Kerry demanded that Moscow take responsibility for actions of pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine whom Washington suspects of downing the jet with a missile, and expressed disgust at their "grotesque" mishandling of the bodies.

And this is where the empty façade of giving a damn about this Russian atrocity-by-proxy will get stripped naked as Paris Hilton's jaybird.  To wit: "We demand that Moscow take responsibility for shooting down a second passenger airliner in thirty one years"....or else what?  If a great power is not willing to up the ante in such a confrontation to back up its enhanced rhetoric, then what is the point of issuing blustering demands?  Indeed, it would be preferable and far more effective to cut to the chase and take truly punitive measures first and then announce them as an inevitable reprisal for the Russians' actions.  Clearly we're way, way past the point where any words coming out of this White House, no matter how gutturally snarled, will be noticed by Vladimir Putin as anything other than a dog listening to his master in a Far Side cartoon.

Czar Vlad won't even pay that much attention.  He knows O is all words and no action.  So he won't pay attention to anything he or his minions say.  Only serious (as in a metaphorical two-by-four right between the legs eyes) actions can get his attention.  Sending frozen dinners to the Ukrainians and curtailing Putin's bear-riding privileges do not qualify.  And the longer we wait to do so, the fewer options we will have, and the more dangerous will be the ones that remain.

But trying convincing Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) of that.

On the one hand....:

Even if it was a mistake, Feinstein said, "it's a horrendous mistake to make. It points out the futility of what's happening in the Ukraine, because there will be repercussions from this."

Host Candy Crowley pointed out that the United States keeps adding more and more sanctions on Russia over its role in Ukraine, and Putin continues to ignore them. With the shooting of the plane and the deaths of 298 civilians from Europe and other countries, Putin may be in too deep, Crowley said, asking why would he "man up" now?

"I think the world has to rise up and say, we've had enough of this," Feinstein responded, saying that Europe has to come together, led by Germany, to impose further sanctions.

"There will be repercussions"; "the world has to rise up"; "We've had enough of this" - and DiFi's proofered response is....more useless sanctions?  Even Candy F-ing Crowley felt compelled to point out the risibility of this pathetically irrational non-reasoning.  "Repercussions" have to be capable of denying Czar Vlad what he wants: the destabilization of Ukraine.  Anything less than that will fail, waste Western time and resources, and embolden the Kremlin even more.

And yet....:

While admitting that U.S.-Russian relations are now at Cold War levels, Feinstein said she opposes Republican calls to arm the Ukrainians, as they have been requesting for months, because she thinks the shooting shows that neither side needs to be in possession of such weapons. [emphasis added]

"Yeah, Vlad, 'man up' and admit that you told your proxies to shoot down Flight MH-17 - but you, Petro, you're just as bad."  You will never see a more pristinely noodle-headed example of the gun control mentality than this, gentlebeings.  The Russians want to conquer Ukraine, and "President" Putin is following the 21st century template for victory over the West in general and the U.S. in particular: subversion and "insurgency".  If we want to live up to our commitment to protect Ukrainian sovereignty without militarily intervening ourselves, we must at minimum provide the Ukrainians with the best means of defending themselves against Putin's Proxies.  But DiFi refuses to arm them in self-defense because "if only the Russians were disarmed, this conflict wouldn't be happening".

But....we can't disarm the Russians.  So the best we can do is make sure their prey are comparably, or superiorly, armed to deter any further Russian aggression.  "Doesn't matter," sniffs the outgoing Senate Intelligence Committee Chair-mummy, "Universal pacifism should be, so we must act as if it is."  Even if it leads to a bigger, wider "hot" war whether we want it or not.  Which is just fine with Czar Vlad, because he has every reckless confidence that he will win it because we won't do what's necessary to stop him, every last arrogant bit of which Obamunists continue to enhance and reinforce.

In a gallows sort of way, it makes me wonder, whether it be in this ongoing crisis or an Iranian nuclear "demonstration" or a renewal of Korean hostilities or ChiComm aggression in the Western Pacific or ISIS upping the ante on 9/11 by way of the vanished southern border, if the Obama Regime is more likely to, at some point, ratchet up its intensity from snoring in a golf cart to DEFCON 1 overnight and blunder into an apocalypse out of haughty ego-interruptis, or just keep autistically "blah-blah-blahing" away into the same apocalypse without providing our enemies with pretexts that they won't need in any case to finish us off.

Guess it doesn't really matter, does it?

See how I "manned up" about that?
