Intercepted Calls Indicate Putin's Proxies Shot Down Airliner In Ukraine

by JASmius

The plot thickens, and in an entirely predictable direction:

Tape recordings of phone conversations between Russian intelligence officials and pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine may be the "smoking gun" that prove Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down by the rebels, Fox News reported.

The intercepted calls were disclosed by Ukraine’s security agency SBU and published in the Kiev Post. They seem to reveal panic after it was discovered that a passenger plane was downed and not a Ukrainian transport plane, which the separatists had targeted in the past week, Fox News said.

"We have just shot down a plane," a man identified as Igor Bezler, the Russian commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in Ukraine, said during a phone call twenty minutes after the plane was hit, according to Fox News.

Bezler allegedly made that call to a person identified by SBU as a colonel in the intelligence department of the general headquarters of the Russian Federation’s armed forces, according to Ukraine security officials.

A little later, a second call was reportedly taped between two men identified as "the Greek" and "Major," who discussed how debris showed the aircraft was a civilian passenger plane.

"It’s 100% a passenger aircraft," Major said while pointing out there were no weapons in sight. "Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medicinal stuff, towels, toilet paper."

A third intercept brings up the first thing that came to my mind about this incident: What passenger flights were doing overflying a war zone in the first place:

On that call, Cossack commander Nikolay Kozitsin is quoted as telling another separatist that the fact the Malaysia Airlines plane was flying over the war zone must prove it had spies on board, Fox News said.

"That means they were carrying spies," Kozitsin allegedly says. "They shouldn’t be [expletive] flying. There is a war going on."

Unless somebody aboard Flight MH-17 was spying on the "pro-Russian Ukranian separatists" through their toilet paper spools from the coach section lavatories, I think we can safely conclude that there was no espionage going on.  But that does beg the question of whether the famous Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur route has been overflying eastern Ukraine every day since this conflict erupted four months ago or they've been avoiding that airspace and this particular flight happened to drift off-course, not unlike KAL flight 007 thirty one years ago.

The question it doesn't beg is how the situation deteriorated to the point where Russian proxies felt no compunction about indiscriminately filling the eastern Ukrainian skies with surface to air missiles that could bring down a civilian airliner in the first place.  We already know the answer to that question: The Obama Doctrine.  Which prompted some guaranteed-to-be-chortingly-ignored advice from former Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton:

The crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, and Russia's possible involvement in it, "should be a wake-up call" for the United States, John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said on Fox News.

Speaking on "The Kelly File" on Thursday, Bolton said, "We've got to begin to treat Russia like the adversary that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is currently demonstrating it to be."

"I think the issue is what this tragedy demonstrates about the nature of the Russian regime under Putin, and the way Russia has conducted its business over the past ten years," Bolton said. "And I think it should be a wake-up call not simply in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, but for the United States and Europe generally about what Russia's up to and how we should respond.”

Two and a half more years.  At least.

I remember KAL Flight 007.  Back then the Russians shooting down a civilian airliner with American nationals on board was considered, to employ a Bidenism, a "big f-ing deal".  Now it's just a passing distraction between Obama fundraisers.

But it's nothing compared to the "unthinkables" to come.  Just as domestically with Obamanomics, ObamaCare, and the engineered border crisis, we've only begun to reap the multiple whirlwinds of "fundamental transformation".  We're already under biological attack here at home; new 9/11's; the use of nuclear weapons somewhere in the world, by somebody.  It's all inbound, and fast.

Still think staying home on Election Day because none of the candidates on the ballot are "conservative enough" is a hot idea?
