ISIS Plans Raise British Terror Threat to Severe

By Douglas V. Gibbs

As the Muslim populations rise in European countries, and ISIS continues to make threats against targets in the West, the United Kingdom is taking notice, and precautions.  Britain has raised their terror threat level to "Severe," the fourth highest of five levels.  The level means that terrorist attacks are "highly likely," but the British government says they have no intelligence suggesting that a plot against the island nation is afoot.

"The increase in the threat level is related to developments in Syria and Iraq where terrorist groups are planning attacks against the West. Some of these plots are likely to involve foreign fighters who have traveled there from the UK and Europe to take part in those conflicts," Home Secretary Theresa May said, regarding the increase in threat level.

Britain is taking steps to protect their citizens based on the deterioration of the Middle East under the onslaught of a terrorist group that even makes al-Qaeda blush.

ISIS has not been shy about leveling threats against western targets.  The leader has said that he is looking forward to a "direct confrontation with the United States."  The Muslim terrorist group has also been leveling threats against European targets.

According to Prime Minister David Cameron, over 400 Brits have headed for the Middle East to join ISIS in the wake of the beheading of American journalist James Foley by a 23-year old British rapper that joined the Islamic Jihad.
