Chilling? Why? Isn't this entirely predictable? Nidal Hassan is a jihadist. He wants to slaughter as many American "infidels" as he can. ISIS has slaughtered thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of "infidels" and conquered territory larger than that of Great Britain in not even a year already, and seeks "confrontation" with the United States. The wonder would have been if Hassan had not wanted his passport stamped in blood.
The interesting question is, why does his formal request to switch "nationalities" make one leaf's difference off the proverbial fig tree? We already have Hassan in custody. He isn't rotting in Gitmo where he belongs, instead of luxuriating in Club Fed - oh, my apologies, "death row" - but he's locked up, and may even die an unnatural death, though it'll be a snail's race to the finish. I certainly sympathize with the idea of, "If he doesn't want to be an American, then don't let the door hit him in the ass on the way out," but is anybody seriously contemplating turning him loose and letting him go join ISIS?
Of course, the White House is. Hassan will be their "good faith" overture to diplomatic relations with the Islamic State. And the domestic justification will be on "religious liberty" grounds - i.e. the First Amendment protects his right to gun down "infidels" - which will enable O to denounce Christians as "hypocrites" for opposing "Major" Hassan's "freedom of conscience" while asserting their own vis-a-vie the ObamaCare contraceptive mandate.

Maybe Barack Obama is the smartest POTUS ever.
