12/17/14: The Obama Regime recognizes Castroite Cuba.
12/19/14: Barack Obama announces his intention to visit Cuba.
12/22/14: Barack Obama (and Pope Francis) enrage Cuban expatriates, just as intended.
12/31/14: Cuban dissidents lured into the open by Obama's opening to the Castros are arrested and jailed.
1/6/15: The Castro regime reneges on the release of 53 Cuban political prisoners in exchange for the three Cuban spies that the Obama Regime already repatriated. (Their release was claimed by the Associated Press a week later).
And now, on the brink of "historic" <sigh> U.S.-Cuban talks, here come da Russkies:
A Russian intelligence warship docked in Havana on Tuesday, a day before the start of historic US-Cuba talks aimed at normalizing diplomatic relations.Why would they announce it? It's not like the Castros owe us any favors in exchange for giving them everything they ever wanted and demanded. As I'm sure The One would agree, it's our obligation to "mind our own business" and "not meddle in internal Cuban affairs". Such a wonderfully "balanced" relationship we're going to have with Havana, isn't it?
There was nothing stealthy about the arrival of the Viktor Leonov CCB-175, which was moored to a pier in Old Havana where cruise ships often dock. But the visit was not officially announced by Cuban authorities.
But even O ought to admit that this was godawful optics. It's about two steps short of the Red Dawn opening.
US officials in Washington played down the presence of the Russian vessel, saying it was perfectly legal and not at all out of the ordinary.
"It's not unprecedented. It's not unusual. It's not alarming," a defense official told AFP.
Of course not. We are all one big, happy Internationale. Because Vladimir Putin is as bosom an ally of Barack Obama as are the Castro brothers. Not America's allies, of course, but that fact is officially irrelevant.
