The prime example of which is Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who not only isn't an Islamic Fundamentalist - he has attended Coptic Christian masses on more than one occasion as an ecumenical gesture, which just does not happen in Islam, and has even vowed to restore all Coptic Christian churches that jihadists have demolished - but is as much a declared enemy of the Muslim Brotherhood as they are of him. And that is why they and the Obama Regime have been conspiring to overthrow him for the past year and a half:
We all know this. We have always know it. But now a former Obama Regime official is coming right out and (almost) saying it:
The United States should be "grateful" to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as an opponent of the Muslim Brotherhood, but the Obama administration seems to think that the group is a potential ally of the United States, former assistant [Commissar] of Defense Richard Perle told Newsmax TV Friday.
"It seems to me that [Barack] Obama has made every conceivable mistake and he's made them over and over again," Perle said Friday on The Steve Malzberg Show....
[A]s the administration considers the Muslim Brotherhood a potential ally, "they haven't read the history and they don't understand what they're doing," Perle said.
I don't want to minimize Commissar Perle's contribution here, because he has put his reputation and life on the line by even this half-measure, but it is a....well, half-measure. He's staying squarely on the "Obama is incompetent" side of the "WTF is he doing?" fence instead of going all the way to where the full, actual truth really is. Suggesting that The One sees the Muslim Brotherhood as a "potential ally" makes him sound like an idiot. "Ally" in what sense? The Brotherhood overthrew (with Obama's help) the regime of Hosni Mubarek that had been both a staunch U.S. ally and critical force for stability in the Middle East for three decades. Yeah, he was an autocratic SOB, but he was our autocratic SOB, and yes, that is sometimes how foreign policy works in a world in which (1) we need allies (something I was under the impression that Lefties believed in) and (2) we don't always have the luxury of being choosy about how they run their internal affairs.
Our autocratic SOB green-lighted the MB to pull the plug on Mubarek, igniting the biggest geostrategic cataclysm since the Second World War - otherwise known as "the Arab Spring". Egypt, the Sunni Muslim counterpart to the Shiite Islamic Empire of Iran, fell under Muslim Brotherhood domination, and the Muslim Brotherhood fell under the embarrassment of military riches - top of the line U.S. tanks and combat aircraft - showered upon them by their jihadi-symp patron. The MB Sharia-ized Egypt, and the results were precisely what one should have expected: economic collapse, societal unrest and upheaval and violence that was viciously put down by the Brotherhood. Finally and mercifully, the one source of sanity and stability in Egypt - the army - had to step in, led by the afore-lauded General al-Sisi, deposing the MB and driving it back underground where it belongs.
Put another way, the Egyptian people didn't like Mubarek, and then they got a taste of the Muslim Brotherhood and liked them even less. But while Barack Obama was happy to help them get rid of the former, he has a serious, serious problem with their "judgment" in the latter instance, and seeks to force al-Sisi out and restore the Brotherhood to power in Cairo.
That, Mr. Perle, is not "they haven't read the history and they don't understand what they're doing". They know exactly what they're doing. Shall we go back in time a little over a year ago and revisit this story?:
Just days after the Obama State [Commissariat] played host to a delegation of leaders aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist group has called for "a long, uncompromising jihad" in Egypt, the Washington Free Beacon reported Friday.
Earlier this week, State hosted a Brotherhood-linked delegation looking to mobilize support for the overthrow of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
One delegation member was Waleed Sharaby, a Brotherhood-linked judge. He posted on his Facebook page a statement translated by the Free Beacon as saying: "Now in the U.S. State [Commissariat]. Your steadfastness impresses everyone."
The Free Beacon reported that Sharaby flashed the Islamic group’s four-finger Rabia symbol.
The delegation also included two other members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Participants at the State [Commissariat] meeting included several [commissariat] officials including a deputy assistant [commissar] for democracy, human rights and labor.
Just days after that meeting, the Brotherhood declared: "It is incumbent upon everyone to be aware that we are in the process of a new phase, where we summon what is latent in our strength, where we recall the meanings of jihad and prepare ourselves, our wives, our sons, our daughters, and whoever marched on our path to a long, uncompromising jihad, and during this stage we ask for martyrdom."
The statement also emphasized the importance of preparing to engage in jihad and invoked the name of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna....
Experts said the timing is certain to be an embarrassment to the State [Commissariat] and the Obama administration. [emphases added]
Does this sound like accidental naivete to you, Dick? Because it sounds to me like the Obama Regime officials deliberately invited MB representatives to this - there's no other word for it - summit in order to plot and plan the restoration of largest, most powerful Arab nation to Sunni jihadist control - and thus covert Egypt back to being an enemy of, of course, Israel, and of the U.S. and the West as well.
In short, Commissar Perle, Barack Obama isn't making a "mistake"; that he's repeating it "over and over again" ought to be a vivid clue that the issue is something far more sinister: he doesn't see the Muslim Brotherhood as a "potential ally of the United States"; he has made his administration the ally of the Muslim Brotherhood against the United States. Just as he revived, incubated, and birthed the Islamic State by summarily quitting Iraq, and punted the Syrian "red lines" crisis to the Russians, and bequeathed nuclear weapons to the Iranian mullagharchy, setting off what is now an actual, burgeoning nuclear arms race in the most dangerous part of the planet. Every step that King Hussein has taken in Middle East foreign policy has two common threads: (1) They have aided the Global Jihad, and (2) they have left the region more violent, more chaotic, more dangerous, and stoked the flames of war ever higher,
That's not incompetence, Dick; that is malevolence - straight out of the Qu'ran.
