North Korea Restarts Plutonium Reactor

by JASmius

Looks like the NoKos are preparing to construct more "Earth-observing satellites":

North Korea has restarted a plutonium reactor that could fuel a nuclear bomb and is seeking missile technology that could threaten the United States, Washington's top spy said Tuesday.

In an annual threat assessment, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and senior military and intelligence officials singled out the authoritarian pariah state as a major and unpredictable menace....

Hmmm; would Obamerikstan not be fairly described as an authoritarian patsy state?

"North Korea's nuclear weapons program and evolving missile programs are a continuing threat," he said....

That we have neither the will nor the ability to stop.  But I guess we know the identity of our eventual killers.  Or would if there wasn't such a long line for the honor.

"Pyongyang continues to produce fissile material and develop a submarine launched ballistic missile," Clapper told the lawmakers.

Funny, I thought the Regime had poohed-poohed that last year.  Now they're admitting it?  Or is Clapper "going off the reservation," as it were?

"It is also committed to developing a long-range nuclear-armed missile that's capable of posing a direct threat to the United States, although the system has not been flight tested."

Aside from the one they tested last weekend.

Perhaps most worrying....,however, is North Korea's resumption of plutonium production - a sign it remains bent on producing more powerful bomb[s] despite international economic sanctions.

Says something about the effectiveness of "international economic sanctions," doesn't it?  And now they've got the means to get them removed permanently - with a flash and a bang.

"We further assess that North Korea has been operating the reactor long enough so that it could begin to recover plutonium from the reactor's spent fuel within a matter of weeks to months," Clapper said....

When fully operational, the reactor is capable of producing around six kilos (thirteen pounds) of plutonium a year - enough for one nuclear bomb, experts say. [emphasis added]

Folks, if they've already tested four of them, we can safely assume that the NoKos have many more where they came from.

If this is looking a lot like our future dealings with the Islamic Empire of Iran, courtesy of Barack Hussein Obama in the same way that the North Korean nuclear arsenal is the legacy of William Jefferson Clinton, go to the head of the class - while it still exists.
