Secret Service Shoots Down Petition For Armed Republican National Convention

by JASmius

Probably just as well, even though it won't be nearly as entertaining.  I guess if no candidate arrives in Cleveland with a delegate majority and Trump doesn't finagle his way to a first-ballot victory, his riotous supporters will have to resort to fists, knives, baseball bats, and perhaps the odd taser:

Despite a petition with more than 43,000 signatures, the Secret Service said Monday firearms will not be allowed at the Republican National Convention this summer....

The Secret Service, which will spearhead the event's security, weighed in on the matter Monday.

"Individuals determined to be carrying firearms will not be allowed past a predetermined outer perimeter checkpoint, regardless of whether they possess a ticket to the event," spokesman Rob Hoback said, reports CBS News.

Only security personnel will be allowed to be armed inside the checkpoints.

I guess we'll have to content ourselves as viewers with the war zone being limited to outside Quicken Loans Arena.

Noted gun-control advocate Donald Trump tried not to sound too disappointed, but did a decent job of concealing it behind bombastic lies about being "stronger on the Second Amendment" than anybody else.  Which only tells me he won't scrimp on the tasers.
