GOP Convention: Republicans Applaud Police As Obama Blames the Police

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Conservatives recognize the difficult job the police do to keep us an orderly society.  While we are willing to admit there are always a few bad apples in any group, the police have a thankless job - and now, thanks to the Obama administration's narrative the police around the country fear for their lives even more than before.  At the GOP Convention while waiting outside the convention attendees applauded the police in Cleveland as the local law enforcement officers walked by to head to their posts for security.

When the police walk by the attendees at the Democrat Party Convention in Philadelphia do you think the response from the Democrats will even be remotely similar?

Not only did the GOP attendees applaud, but they voiced their approval, thanking them for their service.

With the Democrats completely beholden to the BlackLivesMatter movement, the violent and distasteful rhetoric in Philadelphia will be something to behold.

Meanwhile. . .

The five officers in Dallas on July 7 are not the only police personnel being targeted and killed.  Three officers were killed and three injured in Baton Rouge, La., and during the same time period law enforcement officers from Georgia to Michigan were shot in incidents that drew far less attention but have added to the growing sense that it’s a dangerous time to be a cop.

A police officer was shot in Ballwin, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, during a traffic stop.

In Valdosta, Ga., a shooter lured an officer to his house with a 911 call and then opened fire, authorities said.

In Georgia, another officer on patrol became a target when a motorist pulled up and fired at him in Roswell, north of Atlanta. The officer was not injured, and a suspect was taken into custody.

In Michigan two court bailiffs, both former policemen, were shot and killed by an inmate inside the Berrien County Courthouse in Michigan. A sheriff’s deputy in the courthouse was wounded, and the gunman was later shot and killed.

In Milwaukee an officer was shot as he sat in his patrol car.

President Barack Obama said Americans need to tamp down inflammatory words and actions.

The problem is, he doesn't recognize what the BlackLivesMatter movement is saying and doing as being inflammatory.  Inflammatory words and actions to him are defined as being anything "right-wing" or "anti-government."

The president spoke on the eve of the Republican Party's national convention.

Obama said that going into the political conventions, elected officials and interest groups should focus their words and actions on uniting the country, rather than dividing it.

"We don't need inflammatory rhetoric. We don't need careless accusations thrown around to score political points or to advance an agenda. We need to temper our words and open our hearts ... all of us," Obama said.

Obama has laid the blame squarely on the police, not the shooters, nor the anti-police rhetoric of the Democrat Party. . .

On July 10, while at an event in Madrid, Spain, when asked about the violence against the police in Dallas, Obama said police officers will be safer once they acknowledge their failures:

"There are legitimate issues that have been raised, and there’s data and evidence to back up the concerns that are being expressed by these protesters.

"And if police organizations and departments acknowledge that there’s a problem and there’s an issue, then that, too, is going to contribute to real solutions. And, as I said yesterday, that is what’s going to ultimately help make the job of being a cop a lot safer. It is in the interest of police officers that their communities trust them and that the kind of rancor and suspicion that exists right now is alleviated."

The Cleveland Police Association President Steve Loomis says that Obama "Has Blood On His Hands".
