The End of Ringling Bros.

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Growing up, I got to see the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus a couple of times.  What a show.  What a spectacle.  What a big giant target for leftism, animal rights activists, and political correctness.

The circus has been worn down, and now, it is no longer profitable to give us "The Greatest Show on Earth."

Who needs it?  We have devices to watch you tube videos about various performances.  So, after 146 years, the end has come.

Mostly, it's been the animal rights advocates who killed the show (who are also largely pro-abortion - save the puppies, kill the babies).  So, the final performance has been given.  The three rings are retired.  The tent has been brought down forever.  And, there were tears at that final performance last Sunday at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York State.

Sure, the smaller circuses are still around, but they are not the spectacle that Ringling Bros. provided.  They have less animals (if any), less acts, and less showmanship.

Goodbye to the family that traveled together.  Now, the clowns, acrobats, trapeze artists, motorcyclists and animal riders and tamers will all be standing together in the unemployment line.

The activists were vigilant to the end.  PETA supporters demonstrated and picketed the performance on Sunday, calling the circus's closure a "Victory!"

Now, the stands are empty.  The clown confetti has been swept up.  The trapezes will no longer swing.  The animals will sleep and lay around, without the enjoyment of performing with their human counterparts.  The Greatest Show on Earth survived two world wars, and over a century of changing generations, but it could not survive today's liberal left forces of destruction.

Sea World, I am sure of it, is next.
