By Douglas V. Gibbs
The latest Republican Debate came and went, and I was not impressed. All of the various conservative talkers, however, thought it was the best one yet. So be it. One thing is for sure, Michele Bachmann reminded us why she is in the race. She shined in that debate, perhaps working back to the position she held after she had won the Iowa Straw Poll. I have no doubt that if she became President, she is capable of leading this country into the future with firm leadership abilities. Concerns over her lack of executive experience may not be warranted. I agree that former governors tend to have experience leading a government, and that kind of experience can be crucial for a successful presidency.
One of the many problems with Obama is that lack of executive experience. I don't even think he has led a lemonade stand, much less a business, or a government.
Bachmann, however, is different. Aside from her experience in business, her experience in Congress dealing with Obama is huge. She understands the details of Obama-backed legislation, and how to dismantle it.
When Michele was doing well in the polls, the liberal media took aim and did all they could to personally destroy her. Unfortunately, some people believed the lies.
That is how the liberal left works. They can't win in the arena of ideas, so they attack with the politics of personal destruction. They create a hate within their ranks so intense that even common sense is unable to break the spell. The hate Bush frenzy got so bad that the mere mention of George W. Bush's name sent many of the liberal left disciples into a vile rage.
The liberal left, and the leftist media, tried to work the same kind of madness against Bachmann, and for some of the liberal tools, it worked beautifully.
Michele Bachmann was a guest on Jimmy Fallon's failing NBC late, late, late-night show, and when she was introduced and came out to assume her seat, the house band played a song. They didn't sing the lyrics, but the title of the song is "Lying Assed Bitch."
Now, I can ask what lies they are referring to, but then that would force them into the realm of facts, and the liberal left is too propaganda driven to fall for that one. What amazes me, however, is that the liberal democrats are supposed to love it when a woman is independent, successful, and strong. But when that woman is a Conservative Republican, they suddenly go into convulsions, or something. So here comes the only female candidate for president of the United States, a Republican, who was introduced this way with the song "Lying Assed Bitch", and one must ask, how would such a thing have gone over with the press if, say, someone like Hannity introduced any of the democrat women that way?
The long was the drummer's idea, and he tweeted happily about it. He was proud of his vile choice of song. What was worse, is Michele Bachmann didn't know what the song was. She was being treated in the worse kind of way, and she was not even aware of it. That is akin to a sucker punch when you are not looking.
Fighting dirty, I would say.
NBC ignored it, or laughed it off. We heard nothing from them. They were probably exchanging high fives when it happened. I doesn't matter to them that the only woman candidate for president was treated this way, because she's a republican - which apparently makes her fair game.
Such a thing would never have been tolerated if she was a democrat.
Double standard?
Did you expect any different from these people?
The feminist groups didn't even say anything about it. They jump all over the false accusations against Herman Cain, and they jumped all over Cain for calling Pelosi "Princess Nancy," but "Lying Assed Bitch" is just fine for a republican woman.
The next day on Fox News Bachmann said of the incident, "I wasn't aware of it at all. I didn't find out until later yesterday, and at that point I was traveling and making my way to the presidential debate. I'm hoping to be able to speak to Jimmy Fallon today. I don't have anything against Jimmy Fallon. I love him, he's a kick. It was a great opportunity to be on the show. I'd love to go back again, but I think the point is if that had been Michelle Obama who had come out on the stage and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her and likely they could have fired the drummer, at least suspended him. None of that happened from NBC. And this is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite, but it's also I think sexism as well."
The liberals are still joking about it. They think it is funny. Fallon claims he grounded the drummer. But just imagine if this had been Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton. Imagine the backlash against a conservative if they had done something like this to any female democrat.
That is who the liberals are.
NBC did eventually apologize. . . after the uproar.

Douglas V. Gibbs Interviewed Regarding Lomita Muslim Center Expansion Case
A conservative activist in California says the U.S. Department of Justice has no constitutional authority to investigate whether city officials discriminated against Muslims.
In 2010, the Lomita City Council turned down a request for the expansion of the Islamic Center of South Bay, stating that the extension would create traffic problems. However, the region's Muslim community suspects discrimination and claims that officials are in violation the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA). So the U.S. Department of Justice has stepped in to investigate and has interviewed roughly a dozen individuals.
Douglas V. Gibbs, a conservative radio talk show host and publisher of Political Pistachio, says city officials have a legitimate right to deny such a request.

Obama Omits God in Thanksgiving Remarks
It's gotten to the point where Obama does not surprise me anymore. He is pro-Muslim, anti-Christian, pro-socialism, and anti-America as founded. His actions and remarks confirm those positions constantly. . .
Obama criticized on Twitter for Thanksgiving remarks omitting God
President Obama devoted his weekly radio address to thanking U.S. service members and volunteers at shelters and soup kitchens. But it's whom he didn't thank that caused a stir on Twitter: God.
"We're especially grateful for the Americans who defend our country overseas," Obama said in his Thanksgiving Day address. "To all the service members eating Thanksgiving dinner far from your families, the American people are thinking of you today."
According to the White House, Obama personally called 10 service members in Iraq and Afghanistan on Thursday to say happy Thanksgiving. On Wednesday, the president, the first lady and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, did their bit of volunteering, stopping by Washington's Capital Area Foodbank to help fill care packages.
But Thursday morning, Republicans and others tweeted their discontent with the reported omission of God from Obama's address.
Okay, fine, I get it, we are not supposed to have religious tests for our politicians, but this guy is so extreme in his disdain for American traditions and belief systems, that he feels like a foreigner in the White House.

Arkansas at LSU - Game of the Century
Update: Arkansas 17, LSU 41. First Half was as expected, but during the second half the Razorbacks' inability to get their running game going, and contain LSU's running game, resulted in a shut down of Wilson's passing game, and enabled LSU to move the ball at will. As the game progressed into the Fourth Quarter, it became apparent that Arkansas knew they were in trouble, and costly mistakes began to emerge. Overall, LSU played like a number one team, and deserves their placement into the SEC Championship Game, and after they beat Georgia their placement in the National Championship Game.Arkansas will be better next year, with the quarterback, Wilson, returning as a senior. This big game will serve as a memory of what they can accomplish, and what is needed to go to the next level. Arkansas will return to having a shot at the National Championship again next year. . . and I have a funny feeling it will once again come down to the final game against LSU.
Original Post:
By Douglas V. Gibbs
Never have we seen this kind of a situation in College Football. The top three teams in the nation are all from the same conference. . . and even the same division of that conference. Number 1, LSU; Number 2, Alabama; and Number 3, Arkansas are all from the SEC. The SEC is guaranteed at least one team in the National Championship Game, and quite possibly, two.
Going into last weekend, the Arkansas Razorbacks ranked BCS number 6 in the nation, and the only way they would have a chance at a shot at the National Championship would be if an awful lot of teams lost.
Last Saturday, after all of the dust had settled, Number 2 Oklahoma State lost, Number 4 Oregon lost, Number 5 Oklahoma lost, and Number 7 Clemson lost. Suddenly, there was no choice but to catapult the Hogs to number 3 in the nation.
Arkansas has historically carried some kind of stigma that always seems to result in them being underrated. This time, with only one loss, and that loss to Alabama at a time when the Tide was number 1, Arkansas has defied the critics, and is one win away from having a legitimate shot at the National Championship.
The conundrum is that if Arkansas beats LSU, the critics say they will have to look good against LSU to move up. In other words, unless Alabama loses to Number 24 Auburn in a rivalry clash lovingly dubbed the Iron Bowl, the Hogs could actually beat LSU, yet not move up in the rankings - Leaving LSU and Alabama to face off against each other for the national title.
Sportscasters are not giving the Razorbacks a very good chance against LSU, giving the Hogs a slight chance only because of their good passing game. Arkansas' defense was dismantled by the Crimson Tide's brutal ground game early in the season, and LSU boasts a similar ground and pound that many say is too much for the Razorback Defense. LSU's defense is also considered to be good enough to contain Arkansas' speed, and Tyler Wilson's accuracy.
I disagree. A lot has happened, and a lot of growth has occurred, since that loss to Alabama.
LSU will score easily at first, and then the Razorback defense will settle down. The offense, however, will be in Hog Heaven. I believe the Arkansas running game, the speed of the receivers (especially Wright), and Wilson's incredible growth as a quarterback, will stun LSU, and have the Tiger secondary backpedaling the entire game.
I predict 45-42, Arkansas Razorbacks over LSU. That's right - high scoring, and it will be the Hogs' special teams that will be the decider. Watch for LSU interceptions, too. Remember, too, that Arkansas has beaten LSU three out of their last four meetings, and one of those times, the Tigers were number one in the nation when it happened.
Auburn will make a good run at Alabama, but I don't think they can beat the Tide. . . then again, stranger things have happened.
I see Alabama winning fairly easily against Auburn, with Auburn making them nervous early in the second half. The Crimson Tide will be going to the the SEC Championship game to square off with Georgia. . . and barely pulling that one off. I think the Bull Dogs are better than advertised.
Arkansas' win against LSU will move them to Number 2 in the nation, and place the Tigers at Number 3. . . putting the Hogs into the National Championship Game without having to worry about playing in the conference championship - something that will make the powers that be in the NCAA look long and hard at considering a playoff system.

More Evidence Man Made Global Warming Cult a Hoax
A fresh tranche of private emails exchanged between leading climate scientists throughout the last decade was released online on Tuesday. The unauthorised publication is an apparent attempt to repeat the impact of a similar release of emails on the eve of the Copenhagen climate summit in late 2009.
The initial email dump was apparently timed to disrupt the Copenhagen climate talks. It prompted three official inquiries in the UK and two in the US into the working practices of climate scientists. Although these were critical of the scientists' handling of Freedom of Information Act requests and lack of openness they did not find fault with the climate change science they had produced.
Norfolk police have said the new set of emails is "of interest" to their investigation to find the perpetrator of the initial email release who has not yet been identified.
The emails appear to be genuine, but the University of East Anglia said the "sheer volume of material" meant it was not yet able to confirm that they were. One of the emailers, the climate scientist Prof Michael Mann, has confirmed that he believes they are his messages. The lack of any emails post-dating the 2009 release suggests that they were obtained at the same time, but held back. Their release now suggests they are intended to cause maximum impact before the upcoming climate summit in Durban which starts on Monday.
In the new release a 173MB zip file called "FOIA2011" containing more than 5,000 new emails, was made available to download on a Russian server called Sinwt.ru today. An anonymous entity calling themselves "FOIA" then posted a link to the file on at least four blogs popular with climate sceptics – Watts Up With That, Climate Audit, TallBloke and The Air Vent. The same tactic was used in 2009 when the first 160MB batch of emails were released after being obtained – possibly illegally – from servers based at the University of East Anglia, where a number of the climate scientists involved were based.

Grandchildren on Thanksgiving 2011
We used to go to my wife's parents at 11:00 am on Thanksgiving for turkey and tamales, and then my parent's house at about 4:00 pm to eat again. Both families are large, and the family gatherings can be sometimes overwhelming. Then, on Saturday (because I usually worked on the Friday after Thanksgiving), we would cook a small turkey and have our own Thanksgiving dinner at home. After the kids grew up and moved out, my wife and I continued that tradition.
Now, both kids are married, and have two kids. Our family, counting just my wife and I, the kids, their spouses, and the four grandchildren, has grown to ten. This year we told our respective parents that we decided to have our own Thanksgiving this year, and our love was with them.
My, my, my, how my house got loud with the two boys in the house (ages four, and nearly three). What a blessing.
My son's kids were gone before I could get a chance to snap some pictures, but my daughter's children, Cortez and Nevaeh, stayed for the long haul. Ezekiel, the four year old, did spend the night with us last night, though. My daughter, without her Air Force husband right now because he is doing some E-5 training in Tennessee, was more than happy to spend the day with us.
Below are the pics of Cortez just being the happy little guy he is, and Nevaeh just after enjoying some ice cream.

Federal Proposals for Child Labor Laws Restricting Youth under 16 from interaction with Livestock and Agricultural
Important Information sent to me by Email:
Youth under 16 would not be allowed to do agricultural work on a farm that is not owned 100% by parents. The farm can NOT be in trust, LLC or partnership with others than just parent OR NO PARENTAL EXEMPTION. Youth could NOT work at Grandparents or other extended family’s farms or neighbors doing agricultural and working with livestock. Interesting thing, the definition of work is not a job, has nothing to do with getting paid, it is working, providing labor.
Youth under 16 could NOT work at dairy farms milking cows w/ powered milking machines, livestock auctions, livestock exchanges, feed lots, feed yards, stockyards. Youth could NOT work with animals doing basic animal husbandry practices like branding, banding, breeding, dehorning, vaccinating, castrating, treating sick/injured animals, poultry catching/cooping, herding animals in confined spaces such as feed lots or corrals or on horseback (can NOT herd on horseback because of how dangerous cows and horses are) or herd animals on motorized vehicles such as trucks or terrain vehicles, work on elevated farm structures including silos, grain bins, windmills, work inside a fruit, forage, or grain storage, manure pit, harvesting, baling/stacking hay, NO powered farm equipment…including lawn mowers, prohibit driving of ALL motor vehicles and off-road vehicles. Also Youth could NOT work on a farm in a yard, pen or stall occupied by an intact (not castrated) male equine, porcine, bovine, or bison older than 6 months, a sow w/ suckling pigs, or cow w/ new born calf.
“The DOL assumes that youth under age 16 lack the ‘cognitive ability’ to herd animals on horseback, use battery-powered drills, put hay bales on a bale elevator or use any equipment except if powered by hand or foot.”
Youth also would not be allowed, under the proposal, to cut and separate cattle from a herd if riding a horse. "No youth development data exists to suggest youth younger than 16 years have the cognitive ability to handle this responsibility," the proposal suggests.

The First Thanksgiving Menu and History
By Douglas V. Gibbs
In the Constitution Class I lead in Temecula, California on Thursday night at Faith Armory, in our last meeting, one of the students asked me about the original menu for the first Thanksgiving. I told them that the items were very different than what we have on the table today. Turkey was not an item, but there was a collection of other birds. The corn, not originally an item liked by the colonists, was off the cob, ground down into a mush, and made into bread that resembled pita bread. There was plenty of fish on the menu as well being feasted on. It was a three day banquet, and it was a celebration of survival as a result of good harvests, and capitalism.
The Pilgrims were religious separatists who wound up landing way north of their intended target. Many believe, since they were separatists, the Pilgrims from Plymouth, England navigated north of their intended target on purpose.
The reason for the Pilgrim's journey to America was to seek religious freedom. They were persecuted in England as the King made it law that everyone be a member of the Church of England. To escape the tyranny, they braved a treacherous crossing of the Atlantic Ocean that lasted 66 days.
The Pilgrims established a village using a communal system that used a central dispensary for food, and other items. The colonists were expected to work for the good of the community, placing into the central store all of their labors, and taking from it as needed. As Christians, they felt they could trust each other to put forth a good effort, and to be honest about what they took from the central stores for survival. The first winter was brutal, and most of the colonists remained on board the ship. More than half of the new colonists died from exposure, scurvy, and outbreaks of contagious disease. Less than half of the original colonists survived that first winter.
Of the Mayflower’s original travelers that survived through that winter, life was difficult. They were sick, hungry, and psychologically devastated. In the Spring, the colonists all moved ashore, and continued to maintain their collectivist system of communal living.
Days passed, and the Pilgrims were greeted, in English, by an Abenaki Indian. Several days later, as the story goes, he returned with another Native American, Squanto, a member of the Pawtuxet tribe who had been kidnapped by an English sea captain and sold into slavery before escaping to London and returning to his homeland on an exploratory expedition.
Squanto taught the Pilgrims, weakened by malnutrition and illness, how to grow corn, extract and use sap from maple trees, catch fish in the rivers and avoid poisonous plants. Through the process, with Squanto's guidance, the colonists also formed an alliance with the Wampanoag, a local tribe. The friendship lasted more than fifty years, and is a shining example of how the colonists and the Indians attempted to live in harmony in the New World.
Starvation continued to rampage through the colony because under the communal system not all settlers were putting forth their best effort, and were taking more than they put into the stores. Those that did work hard were angry because they were expected to, through their labors, carry the entire colony. Unrest was breaking out, and the colony knew that if they did not do something about their situation fast, the colony would not survive.
A new system was devised that gave each Pilgrim a parcel of land. They were told this land belonged to them, and they could work the land as they pleased. The settlers would keep all that they produced, and could bring any excess to market to trade with other settlers for goods they desired.
The Pilgrims’ first corn harvest proved successful, and as a result of changing their system to a more capitalistic system based on personal incentive, personal responsibility, and self-sufficiency, the colony was not only prospering, but their food was bountiful. In fact, they had so much food, they were beginning to even trade with the Indians.
Governor William Bradford, wishing to give thanks to the Lord for their good fortune, organized a celebratory feast and invited their Indian allies, including the Wampanoag chief Massasoit. The festival lasted for three days, and based on writings from the time period the menu is believed to have been rich in fowl and fish.
On the menu was a lot of fish (most likely cod), clams, lobsters, eels, five deer brought by the Indians, ducks, geese, and probably not a single turkey. Pumpkin may have been on the menu, along with various berries. The Indians made a stewed mix of corn, roots, beans, squash and various meats called sobaheg. On the table were also onions, turnips, and greens from spinach to chard.
Many of the menu items, it is suggested, were also prepared with traditional Native American spices and cooking methods. Because the Pilgrims had no oven and the Mayflower’s sugar supply had dwindled, the meal did not feature pies, sweet cakes, or other desserts. Because of the culture, it is also possible that the women did not participate.
In 1623, after a long drought that threatened the year's harvest, and yet still a bounty encouraged by their "keep what you produce" capitalistic system, Governor Bradford once again called for a feast for the purpose of giving thanks for the survival and prosperity of the colony.
As the years progressed, a thanksgiving feast on an annual or occasional basis became common practice in other New England settlements. During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress designated one or more days of thanksgiving a year, and in 1789 George Washington issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation. He called upon Americans to express their gratitude and give thanks to God our Lord for the happy conclusion to the country’s war of independence and the successful ratification of the U.S. Constitution. His successors John Adams and James Madison also designated days of thanks during their presidencies.
In 1817, New York officially adopted an annual Thanksgiving holiday.
In 1827, noted magazine editor and prolific writer Sarah Josepha Hale, known for her nursery rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb," began to campaign to establish Thanksgiving as a national holiday. Hale published numerous editorials and sent scores of letters to governors, senators, presidents and other politicians over a period of about thirty-six years. In 1863 at the height of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln heard her cry, and issued a proclamation entreating all Americans to ask God to "commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife" and to "heal the wounds of the nation." He scheduled Thanksgiving for the final Thursday in November, and it was celebrated on that day every year until 1939, when Franklin D. Roosevelt moved the holiday up a week in an attempt to spur retail sales during the Great Depression. Roosevelt’s plan was met with passionate opposition determined to keep with tradition, and in 1941 the president reluctantly signed a bill making Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday in November.
Though turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries (cranberry sauce), and pies were not on that original menu, over the passing of time these have become the traditional menu items of Thanksgiving. The true essence of Thanksgiving, however, is not the meal. This unique American holiday was, and still is, a day for all of us to give thanks for our blessings, and for the difficulties we have endured that have made us stronger and wiser. And the story I have given you may not have been technically the "first Thanksgiving," for throughout the colonies there were ceremonies of thanks that predate the Pilgrims' celebration.
Despite the tales of a bloody relationship between the Indians and the settlers, which did exist to some extent, the early tales of Thanksgiving reveals that there was a time when the Indians and colonists existed in harmony, and gave thanks to God for their relationship, and the miraculous survival of the early colonists, thanks to a little concept (though this may not have been the first time a free market style system had been used) we now call today "capitalism."

Arizona Plane Crash in Superstition Mountains
A plane crashed in Arizona's Superstition Mountains, according to ABC News Phoenix affiliate KNXV, citing witnesses and local authorities -- but officials told ABC News that passenger flights at major local airports all were accounted for.
Initial indications were that it was a general aviation plane, not a commercial flight -- but it was not clear how big a plane may have crashed or how many people may have been involved.

Rezko's Guilt Reminds Us About The Truth of Obama
By Douglas V. Gibbs
A person from Obama's past has been sentenced. That's right, former Obama fundraiser Tony Rezko has been sentenced by a federal district court judge to ten years in prison. And if you will remember, Rezko was also the dude that enabled Barack Obama, who couldn't afford a house, to get into a very large house with creative financial pizzazz.
Rezko's sentencing follows his conviction of scheming to get kickbacks from the Chicago teachers union pension fund.
Just the kind of guy Obama tends to surround himself with.
Rezko was supposed to be sentenced several years ago, but made a deal he'd be a little help with Blagojevich. Apparently, his help was worthless, and so his prosecutors pushed for him to get 15 years. He's lucky he only got ten.
Obama paid under the asking price for his house, and then purchased a part of Rezko's lot under market value, thus satisfying the seller's requirement. Rezko fronted Barry the money, and now Rezko will be roommates with a whole new crowd.
This is the kind of people Obama hangs out with. Rezko the crook, Ayers the commie, and Wright the America-hating preacher.
Pretty much sums Barry up.

The Roles of the Federal and State Governments
"[T]he States can best govern our home concerns and the general government our foreign ones. I wish, therefore ... never to see all offices transferred to Washington, where, further withdrawn from the eyes of the people, they may more secretly be bought and sold at market." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Judge William Johnson, 1823

Recess Appointments
By Douglas V. Gibbs
As someone who has made it his business to understand the U.S. Constitution, I often receive questions about the document. Recently, I was asked about Recess Appointments.
So, Bill, here's your answer:
Recess Appointments
Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states: The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.
This clause refers to what is called “a recess appointment.” A recess appointment is the appointment of a senior federal official (department head, judge, etc.) by the President while the U.S. Senate is in recess. Remember, as the voice of the States in the federal government, the Senate must confirm all appointments of senior federal officers before they assume office. However, while the U.S. Senate is in recess, and during the early years of this nation that meant they could be a few days ride away, the President can make a recess appointment without Senate confirmation. However, the appointment only remains in effect until the next session. A recess appointment must be approved by the Senate by the end of the next session of Congress, or the position becomes vacant again.
Remember, the House and the Senate were originally made up very differently. The Representatives go to Washington to serve their district, and to act in accordance with the will of the people in their district, making the House of Representatives literally the voice of the people in the federal government.
The Senate was made up of Senators appointed by the State legislatures. The Senators represented the States, and they made up the State coalition of the federal government. It was through the Senate that the States had representation in the federal government, and could ensure, along with the House of Representatives, to provide a series of checks against the executive branch.
Part of the way to control power is to divide it. Then, after you divide the power, divide it again. Then, make the powers of the separate branches different from each other, that way they do not collude together against the people, or other branches of government.
One of the fears of the founders was that the branches would collude together in an effort to take away individual freedoms.
By requiring the Senate to confirm appointments by the executive, it kept a leash on the executive. Even in a recess appointment, when the President could appoint without confirmation by the Senate, confirmation would still eventually be needed or else the seat became vacant again. This kept the executive from surrounding himself with a group of cronies the States did not approve of.

Super Committee Not So Super. . . As Planned

By Douglas V. Gibbs
When the 12 member super committee was dreamed up by Obama and his freakish liberal zombies in Washington, there was no intention for the "bi-partisan" group to pull off the spending cuts that they were tasked with figuring out. The triggers were supposedly put into place to encourage them to do their job, but in reality failure is exactly what the liberal democrats wanted. The trigger gives them a chance to gut the military, and cut programs like medicare. . . for the soul purpose of blaming the republicans and touting their belief that we dearly need Obamacare.
As planned by the Left, the super committee failed to make cuts necessary to balance the budget. The democrats will proclaim that without their guidance after such a blunder by the super committee America will spiral out of control under increasing debt - despite the fact that the majority of that debt came under their watch.
The super committee was supposed to come up with a plan to cut $1.2 trillion out of the budget, which is not only a mere dent in what really needs to be cut, but isn't true cuts anyway. What they call cuts is simply reductions in spending that hasn't been spent yet.
Failure means either the triggers hammer what shouldn't be hammered, or Congress can do what it usually does and go back on its word. . . in other words, go back on the legislation that they wrote just a few months ago.
After two months of talks, all the members of the panel has managed to do is get on television talk shows, and blame each other for the failure.
What did you expect? They're politicians!
The liberal angle, of course, is to blame republicans for failing to be willing to raise taxes - or more specifically: for refusing to stick it to the wealthiest Americans, who tend to also be the producers, achievers, and job creators.
As if they expected any different. It is kind of a part of the republican platform to reduce taxes, not raise them.
The problem is, the liberal democrats are communitarians. They place the community above the individual, which is why they throw around phrases like "shared sacrifice" and "common good."
That is communal thinking, or as the Founding Fathers called it, utopianism.
Today's word for that is communism.
The problem is that this isn't just the fault of the democrats. The republican establishment is big government too. The liberal infiltration of the last hundred plus years has gotten the republican establishment to the point that in many ways, they are hardly unlike their brethren across the aisle. And yes, they like to spend money like it is going out of style too!
The committee, and government as a whole, can't find money to cut because they can't stop themselves from spending money unconstitutionally. It is like a habit, a dirty filthy spending habit. Maybe we should send them to SA - Spenders Anonymous.
Some of them were so sure that they would make a deal that they didn't care about the automatic cuts. . . but the leftists expected failure, and desire the triggers to go into play. Now that the super committee has failed, Washington politicians want to go back on the legislation that they passed and block the automatic cuts.
"Ooops," they seem to be saying, "we didn't really mean it. Just kidding."
My kids lied to me better than that when they were little, and trying to blame each other for whatever it was.
The triggers include nearly $500 billion in defense cuts (The Pentagon is the bulls eye), and an equal amount of domestic dollars.
And they know dang-well that these cuts could hurt their reelection chances. . . because for the politicians, that is what it is all about. They could care less about fixing the problem.
Kick the can down the road, and get reelected.
"I have no doubt that there will be efforts to turn it off," said Maya MacGuineas, president of the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. "Never underestimate the willingness of politicians to try to avoid making some of the hard choices."
Did you notice that no cuts on entitlement programs have been suggested? Isn't that where the hard choices should have begun?
The cowards of Washington can't break their spending habit. They say they spend too much, they admit they have a problem, but they won't stop doing it - and then they increase the spending some more.
These Washington cesspool addicts don't even understand the real crux of it all. They swore an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution, yet nearly all of their out-of-control spending is unconstitutional. . . and they either don't realize it, or they don't care.
I assume the latter.
They won't make the cuts necessary to get America back on track because that would mean they would have to abide by the limiting principles of the U.S. Constitution, and God knows they won't dare bring themselves to do something like that. Abiding by the Constitution, after all, would reduce their power - something political elitists can never bring themselves to do.

Kids Kissing Leads Principal to Call Authorities
UPDATE: After this story broke the police report and the information regarding this story came under fire. In fact, on the Rush Limbaugh show, after Rush brought up the story, one of the folks involved called into the show and told Rush that the principal did not call the police because of the kiss, but because of information that came up after the girl was interviewed after the kiss.
Fine.
My only thought is, why would they interview the girl because of a kiss? Is there more we are not being told?
Below is my post as it originally appeared:
File under You've Got To Be Kidding Me!
Remember, these people worried about the kids kissing are the same folks that support sex on TV, passing out condoms on campus, and underage girls having abortions without parental knowledge. . .
A school administrator in Florida called the sheriff after a pair of consenting 12-year-olds shared a kiss on the playground.
Lee County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Orange River Elementary School after two female students were debating over who liked a 12-year-old boy more. At that point, one of the girls walked over and kissed the boy – leading an assistant principal to call authorities.
