Hard Starboard Radio: Attack Of The Fifty-Foot Megyn Kelly

Do you want Donald Trump to be a politically correct liberal? Just elect him; Pope Francis asks Iran to work for Mideast peace, stop the spread of terrorism, reverse time, make water run uphill, walk on water, part the Red Sea, and, oh, wait, never mind, Rouhani has already beheaded Francis; Giant Trump poster becomes pilgrimage site; Obama illegally decrees Cuban embargo easings while Cuban illegal aliens pour into U.S.; Hillary Clinton: my first SCOTUS appointment will be....Barack Hussein Obama; The Bundy Gang loses the second Battle of Bundy Hill; Trump runs away from Megyn Kelly....again; and Taiwan flexes military muscle right in Red China's face.

"I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and kick Donald Trump right in his fat can" at 6PM Eastern/3PM Pacific.

BERNIE SANDERS, THE ONE PERCENT, WALL STREET AND THE PROGRESSIVE ELITE

By Allan McNew

Bernie's been raising hell about the rich and Wall Street, how he's going to stand up to the corporations and rich people, make them “pay their fair share” by taxing the hell out of them. It sounds really good to his base, kick the hell out of the Koch Brothers and all, make life fair for the little guy.

Bernie's best bet is that his base doesn't check up on the facts, because they'd be really pissed about the way they've been lied to and used to an end if they did, and conservatives need to wake up to the big picture situation behind the curtain as well.

The majority of Democrats on Capitol Hill have the bulk of their net worth wrapped up in Wall Street investments and real estate holdings. In 2012, the four richest members of the Senate were Democrats. In 2011, Obama's running buddy, Secretary of State John Kerry (D), was the very richest member of the Senate. Minority Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D), not far from the top in terms of wealth in Congress, is the richest woman in Congress and the top ten richest lawmakers in Congress list features more Democrats than Republicans. There's billionaire “Ban the big gulp!” former New York Mayor Bloomberg (D) making noises about an independent run for the White House. What were the Clintons and the Obamas worth when they first moved into the White House as opposed to when the Clintons left and the Obamas now seven years in? The Bern himself may have a story to tell about his own investments, and not a one of the above is going to personally live up to their professed ideology – that's for others to endure.

In the early days of progressive – socialism, inherited wealth despised self-made wealth. Theodore Roosevelt was a rich man who was suspicious of other rich people for being wealthy. “Silver spoon” FDR prolonged the Great Depression in part by chasing corporate America around to punish it for having the temerity to even exist, until WWII blew up in his lap and he realized he needed industrialists.

However, the new, shiny, technical corporate America is now desired over the old and formerly stable industrial America, in part because Silicone Valley and the associated tech industry buys off the progressive-socialist elite and greatly funds their far left agenda while pretending to not be the modern manifestation of Gilded Age robber barons – and in turn the progressive-socialist elite pretend not to notice.

Silicone Valley is the old industrial revolution reincarnated as the new technological revolution, and as the old robber baron entrepreneurs transformed America, the new are transforming the world with all sorts of new wonders and new evils, all the while living up to the 19th century maxim “Capitalism is about turning luxuries into necessities”, such as the latest smart phone, most feature laden tablet or exploitation of new trends in social media.

Silicone Valley billionaires employ few people in their businesses and are all about H1B visas, off shoring labor and inventing new forms of robotics to cut domestic labor costs, no unions allowed. It was said of John D. Rockefeller that no one lived a grander life on such a frugal scale. Silicon Valley one percenters live large, buying and building on stratosphericly priced real estate while having the carbon foot prints of small nations. Tiny apartments and inconvenient mass transit is for the present and future economically challenged mass who somehow afford their goods and services, the ones who are data mined to the smallest details and turned into profiles to be marketed – including Bernie's faithful. It's said that Google knows more about you than your mother, your life long best friend, and every domestic relationship you've ever had combined.

“Paying their fair share of taxes” is for others as is footing the bill for their “climate change” cause, and Silicone Valley takes no responsibility for their ideological role in killing the economy. It's lot sexier to be the new pioneers in space or engineer driverless cars destined to be taken off the road with all the rest than develop cheap, compact, super efficient solar panels and equally cheap, compact, super efficient energy storage.

Sanders is right, the game is rigged. But what he's not telling his audience is that it's the progressive-socialist elite that's doing the rigging and “the rich” will never pay their “fair share of taxes” as he sees it so long as there are wealthy Democrat politicians who will determine to remain wealthy and new tech industry robber baron capitalists who bribe them through legal loop holes to look the other way while funding a good deal of their progressive-socialist agenda.

Hundreds Of DHS Badges, Guns, Phones & Naval Intelligence Missing

by JASmius

What the Islamic State didn't scoop up, the Russians, ChiComms, Iranians, and North Koreans will wind up with.  Is there no END to what "smart power" can accomplish?:

Hundreds of badges, credentials, cell phones and guns belonging to [Commissariat] of Homeland [Ins]ecurity employees have been lost or stolen in recent years — raising serious security concerns about the potential damage these missing items could do in the wrong hands.

Inventory reports, obtained by the news site Complete Colorado and shared with FoxNews.com, show that over 1,300 badges, 165 firearms and 589 cell phones were lost or stolen over the span of thirty-one months between 2012 and 2015.

The majority of the credentials belonged to employees of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), while others belonged to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) employees.

The phones can have their service turned off, I suppose, although if their missing status wasn't discovered for days or weeks or months afterwards, they were fully usable, passwords and clearances and caller lists and speeddial lists and all.  The guns can be mentally allocated to the Fast & Furious pile.  But the badges could be very useful in "the wrong hands" in a number of ways limited only by their evil imaginations.  And evil people usually have the most vivid imaginations of all.

That, though, is just the idiotic appetizer; this is the main course:

For more than two years, the Navy’s intelligence chief has been stuck with a major handicap: He’s not allowed to know any secrets. [emphasis added]

I'll give you all a few minutes to recover your composure.

Vice Admiral Ted “Twig” Branch....

Must have a small penis; otherwise he'd be nicknamed "Trunk".

....has been barred from reading, seeing or hearing classified information since November 2013, when the Navy learned from the [Injustice, Revenge & Coverup Commissariat] that his name had surfaced in a giant corruption investigation involving a foreign defense contractor and scores of Navy personnel.

And just think, folks, Hillary Clinton wants back into the White House!  THAT'll clean up that "culture of corruption" at DOD in no time!

Worried that Branch was on the verge of being indicted, Navy leaders suspended his access to classified materials. They did the same to one of his deputies, Rear Admiral Bruce ["Arliss"] Loveless, the Navy’s director of intelligence operations.

More than eight hundred days later, neither Branch nor Loveless has been charged. But neither has been cleared, either. Their access to classified information remains blocked. [emphasis added]

And while Loveless was, eventually, rotated out to a "less sensitive" position, Branch hasn't been replaced, even temporarily.  Nor has either been prosecuted.  It's like the whole situation has been put into a temporal stasis bubble freezing the moment in time, like suspended animation, except the rest of the world has continued on, effectively denying the U.S. Navy any intelligence information.  FOR OVER TWO YEARS.  Almost as if that was the intended end result.

But then we do all know that state secrets and military intel and classified information are all relics of Obamerikastan's "rightwing extremist" past that have all been "progressively" abolished and relegated to history's dustbin, now don't we?  It's a good thing the world is so quiet and at peace, or this could be a serious problem.

ABC To Carry Out Some Long-Overdue GOP "Mercy Killings"

by JASmius

AT LAST:

ABC News will not include an undercard contest during its Republican presidential debate in February, according to new criteria released from the network.

The decision threatens to cut the debate stage to as few as six candidates just three days before New Hampshire primary.

Candidates will have three avenues to make the debate stage. The top three finishers in the Iowa caucuses’ popular vote will punch a ticket to the stage, as well as any candidate polling within the top six in averages of recent New Hampshire or national polls. ABC News sources confirmed that there will not be an additional debate for those candidates who do not meet that criteria.

Well, now, this is only coming about five months too late.  Heck, it's a year too late.  This should have been the format all along.  Anybody not in double-digits, or even mid-single-digits, in the polls after Labor Day doesn't make it onto the damned debate stage.  Period.  No blasted "kiddie table".  At the risk of sounding like Trump, pandering to the whiny also-ran losers for this long is much of what has led us to the current Trump-induced clusterfark and Republican/conservative crackup.  There's been this undercurrent assumption for the entire cycle that being considered a serious candidate and bequeathed a podium on debate stages is somehow an entitlement; hell, even being relegated to the mid-card instead of the main event has been the source of endless grousing and complaining and bitching and moaning.  Here we are trying to resurrect the Constitution and the Old American Republic and we get stuck with an overpopulated mess of divas demanding their own dressing rooms.

For crying out loud, before this cycle there was never any such thing as undercard debates.  Does that in and of itself not underscore how absurdly overcrowded the candidate field was allowed to get and that the RNC should have stepped in and restored some level of order and sanity from the beginning?  To say nothing of how garishly unserious this entire ongoing fiasco makes the GOP look, above and beyond Trumpmania?

This is what makes me so incredulous that Jazz Shaw could write the following:

But it’s times like this when I have to remind myself that not a single vote has been cast yet. When ABC News hosts this debate there will only have been a hundred thousand or so votes cast in one of the nation’s smallest States. (Electorally speaking, anyway.) Should we be lopping a bunch of people out of what may be their best chance at some exposure to a public which is just waking up to realize there’s an election taking place?

YES!!!  Yes!  We!  Should!, dammit.  What in the blue hell business does Jim bleeping Gilmore have being on ANY debate stage?  If Rand Paul (2.2%), Carly Fiorina (2.0%), Mike Huckabee (2.2%) and Rick Santorum (0.2%) haven't "broken into the top tier" by now, they're never going to, and should be shown the door in the forlorn hope that they'll finally, once and for all take the hint and get the hell out.

It's almost as bad as college basketball conference tournaments, where everybody makes the tournament plus loser's brackets, the sum total of which is to make it almost impossible for anybody to be eliminated.  The next step is foregoing a single nominee in favor of a nominated team of aspiring co-presidents.  Either that or everybody getting a "participant" trophy.  Enough, already.

And remember, the only reason why "only" six candidates sounds like such a ruthless winnowing is because there are too damned many candidates in the first place.  There would still be room for Cruz, Trump, Rubio, Carson, Bush, and Christie. and maybe Kasich, who for whatever crazy-ass reason has had a mini-surge in New Hampshire of late.  And frankly that's twice as many candidates as are actually still serious at this point.  It will be, frankly, the most dramatic loss of unneeded weight since I dropped sixty pounds in two months five years ago.  And it will whittle down the formula for the myth of Donald Trump's dominance by opening up the "lanes" for Cruz and Rubio to rise above Trump's ceiling and most mercifully leave the loudmouthed jagov behind.

Allow me to tweak one phrase in that last paragraph; instead of "unneeded weight," I should have said "unwanted waste products":

What you’re seeing here, in other words, is the full realization of the sort of spite campaign that Bush is often accused of running in New Hampshire. Huckabee can wreck Cruz by splitting off some of his social-con support but he can’t personally benefit from doing so. In fact, watch the ad and you’ll see that no attempt is made to contrast Cruz unfavorably with Huck. Huckabee isn’t even mentioned. This is pure seek-and-destroy with Cruz in the crosshairs, and amazingly, it’s being done to benefit a candidate widely perceived as the least religious person in either field. [emphasis added]

And let's cap off that Cleveland steamer with this fetid nugget on top:

In an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Wednesday morning, Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said that he had heard from other candidates “proactively” about attending the event that Trump will hold at Drake University at the same time as the debate…

Aides to the candidates did not respond to requests for comment. But Nick Ryan, a Republican operative who advises the “super PAC” supporting Huckabee, tweeted shortly after the Trump event was announced that candidates in the undercard debate, which airs before the prime-time one, should consider wandering over to Trump’s event afterward. [emphasis added]

I never liked Huckles in 2008 or Santorum in 2012.  Both were single-issue socons and I don't tend to take single-issue candidates seriously, but they both seemed to go out of their way to rub me the wrong way.  This is the kind of chickenshittedness that should tell you why.

Good riddance - or "LojmIt SoH qIp neH HeDaq Sa'Hut yInISQo''" in the original Klingon.

Exit quote: "Listen to Huck on the stump and you’ll hear endlessly that the way to make America great again is to install a true Christian believer who’ll fight for Christian morality as president — and yet, given the option to attack the Christian believer Cruz for not tithing or the chance to attack a guy who doesn’t know if he’s ever asked God for forgiveness and is seen as not terribly religious by a plurality of his own party, Team Huck oddly goes after … the former....Whatever happens, Huckabee’s political career is weeks, maybe days, away from ending. He might crawl on to South Carolina, convinced that a weakened Cruz will start shedding socially conservative support his way, but he’s kidding himself. He’s dying, and he’s resolved to take Cruz with him even if that means the guy who says 'Two Corinthians' ends up as nominee."

North Korea To Test Another ICBM

by JASmius

You know, the ICBMs the Obama Regime says the NoKos don't have, which will deliver the atomic and thermonuclear warheads the Obama Regime says the NoKos don't have to American cities we won't be able to escape because the Obama Regime will never see them coming:

Satellite imagery shows North Korea may be preparing to launch a long-range missile as soon as within a week, Japan's Kyodo news agency reported early on Thursday, citing an unnamed Japanese government official.

The official cited signs of possible preparations for a missile launch, based on analysis of satellite imagery of the North's Tongchang-ri missile test site on its west coast....

North Korea last conducted a long-range rocket launch in late 2012, successfully putting into orbit an object it claimed was a communications satellite, in what experts saw as part of an effort to build an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

South Korean Defence Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok declined to comment on whether there were pre-launch activities at the site, citing a policy of not discussing intelligence matters. However, he said the North had issued no international warnings on navigation, as it has ahead of previous long-range rocket launches. [emphasis added]

Nothing ominous about that, is there?

The Kim "dynasty" has a well-earned reputation for bluff and bluster, but if I were they and was planning to launch an actual nuclear strike on the U.S., I would use the cover of a "ballistic missile test" to "launch a new satellite into orbit" to do it.  All the more so an electromagnetic pulse attack, for which that would be even better camouflage.

Is that what this is?  Are the lights about to go out in Obamerikastan permanently?  Who knows?  But one of these days, they will, rest assured.

And what is the commander-in-chief doing to prevent it?:

In Beijing, U.S. [Commissar] of State John Kerry and [Red] Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday agreed on the need for a significant new U.N. security resolution against the North, but there were few signs of progress.

Aren't you glad you asked?

Chicago, Chicago, That Shootin' Town

by JASmius

Welcome to the results of "common sense gun control":

Sixteen people were shot in an eleven-hour period Monday, including two along a Safe Passage route in the West Englewood neighborhood, according to authorities.

The shootings – from Cragin on the Northwest Side to Roseland on the Far South Side – left five dead. Those shot ranged in age from sixteen to fifty-six. Several survivors were left in critical condition.

The burst of shootings came after no one was reported shot in the city through most of the day Sunday into early Monday.

Yes, that was actually a thing.

At least 228 people have been shot in January, thirty-seven of them fatally.

That's an annual 2016 pace of 3,091 shootings and 502 fatalities, on par with the last several years of Raum Emanuel's mayoralty.  And in the city with the toughest, most suffocating and confiscatory gun laws in the country, too.

That's an awfully expensive lesson for absolutely nobody to be willing to learn it.

Taiwan Flexes Military Muscle Right In Red China's Face

by JASmius

Tsai Ing-wen hasn't officially taken office as Taiwan's president yet, so these rather....aggressive naval exercises can't be attributed to her....but I'm sure the Obama Regime will do so anyway:

Taiwan carried out military drills Wednesday with naval chiefs assuring residents the island is safe, as concerns grow that tensions will escalate with [Red] China after recent presidential elections.

The drills were the first since Tsai Ing-wen of the China-sceptic Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) swept to victory in the elections earlier this month.

She ousted the ruling Beijing-friendly Kuomintang (KMT), bringing to an end eight years of unprecedented [appeasement of Red] China.

On Wednesday, the Taiwanese navy displayed eight warships and fired flares from a missile corvette during an exercise in waters off Tsoying in southern Taiwan, home to the island’s naval headquarters.

They also scrambled F-16 Falcon fighters, landed amphibious forces on Kinmen Island, an entire five miles off the ChiComm coast - swimming distance, literally - and Taiwan's outgoing president, Ma Ying-jeou, is planning an official visit to another "disputed" Taiwanese possession in the South China Sea, Itu Aba.

Pre-Obama, this would all have been to the good.  Beijing would have bitched and moaned, but they ultimately wouldn't have risked a confrontation with the U.S. to swat down, or invade and conquer outright, the Taiwanese.  And the latter could have conducted these military exercises secure and confident in that support.

But now?  The ChiComms don't fear us, and the recent Taiwanese election amply demonstrates that they have written us off as an ally and patron and are charting their own unilateral foreign policy, so we don't have much, if any, influence with and over Taipei, either.  And yet if a confrontation develops between the two Chinas, the U.S. will still get dragged into it, involuntarily and not on our initiative, schedule, or terms.  It's the worst of all worlds: We have no superpower influence or capabilities, but we still have the superpower reputation and animus.  We are literally the "pitiful, helpless giant" of President Nixon's one-time depiction.

And this is just one flashpoint of many over which we have just as little control.

Gosh, I love "smart power".

Save the Orange County/Costa Mesa Gun Show

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Yesterday, a fellow gun show vendor, contacted me and told me he had read on an Inland Empire Oath Keepers blog that the future of gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds is in jeopardy.  I immediately began calling around to my contacts in the Oath Keepers, and Guardians of the Oath, to get to the bottom of this, and sure enough, it turns out the Costa Mesa Gun Show is, indeed, in danger of being eliminated.

A lawyer for the labor unions, who already have a very liberal left track record, has managed to become appointed to the fairgrounds board of directors and wants to put an end to the gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds.  The Costa Mesa Gun Show is the largest in Southern California.

Though this has not become a "fight", yet, we need to be present at the next meeting of the fairgrounds' board of directors - which happens to be tomorrow morning, January 28.  We need to show up in great numbers, not to be combative, but to show how much the gun show means to us, how important it is to the community, and why it is important that the gun show must be continued to be allowed to be at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

The details: THURSDAY, January 28th at 9 AM until 1 PM; 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, California.  A lot of people have already put in requests to speak, but if you can, or can't, your presence will send a signal to this board about how important the gun show is.

I am guessing the mythological "gun show loophole" is a part of the reasoning behind the hard left liberal's thinking.  If you get to speak, bringing that up may be an important addition to your speech.  Because this is not necessarily a "fight", yet, the owner of Crossroads of the West has asked us to please keep our comments calm and positive since it is a union hack that is trying to do in our 2nd Amendment. Anyone with a union hat or shirt would be advised to wear them.  Oath Keepers and Guardians of the Oath will be wearing their shirts.  I will have my Constitution Association shirt, and an NRA hat, on.

I am counting on many people being there, and we already have myself, plus two more going, from our group.  Will you be joining us?

Again, here's the details:

Trump Runs Away From Megyn Kelly....Again

by JASmius

I guess tomorrow night's Iowa Caucuses-eve, Fox News-moderated GOP debate has just lost its YUGEness:

Unlike the very stupid, highly incompetent people running our country into the ground, Mr. Trump knows when to walk away. Roger Ailes and FOX News think they can toy with him, but Mr. Trump doesn’t play games. There have already been six debates, and according to all online debate polls including Drudge, Slate, Time Magazine, and many others, Mr. Trump has won all of them, in particular the last one. Whereas he has always been a job creator and not a debater, he nevertheless truly enjoys the debating process – and it has been very good for him, both in polls and popularity.

He will not be participating in the FOX News debate and will instead host an event in Iowa to raise money for the Veterans and Wounded Warriors, who have been treated so horribly by our all talk, no action politicians.

And it will be covered by every network except Fox, and probably outdraw the debate, and nobody will bother noticing that Trump is just using American veterans as campaign props (again) for his YUGE megalomania.  And his zombie followers will roar in approval and then lurch off in search of Megyn Kelly's latest menses,

Fox News released their statement on the matter, unwittingly playing their prominent role in the never-ending Trump drama:

"Terrorizations" is a bit melodramatic itself, but otherwise, go Fox!, FWIW.

But this fits the Trump pattern of being a douchbag in inverse proximity to the targets of his douchebaggery.  On Twitter he is Thor-mighty, while in person he's The Ultimate Diplomat.  Put another way, Megyn Kelly has balls the size of near-Earth objects compared to the billionaire slumlord.

Something he was willing to admit to her face only four short years ago:

"No, I could never beat you."  And he probably meant it at the time, because she wasn't directly challenging him.  Either that, or he thought that politeness and deference might get him into her pants after the interview.

So will no-showing this debate hurt Trump?  Given that nothing seems to hurt Trump, the answer would seem to be "no".  But I would advise Ted Cruz to use tonight's debate as a "closing argument" for his candidacy instead of bombarding an empty podium.  I've always believed that ignoring Trump and denying him media oxygen and otherwise reducing him and taking away his multi-gigawatt spotlight has been and is the best strategy to employ against him.  Now that he's taken himself out of Thursday's equation, run to daylight, Ted, and don't look back.

In lieu of an exit thought, here's what I wrote after the last Fox News debate, as it's just as applicable six months later:

All you Tea Party Trump lovers think that your guy is going to make an AWESOME!!!!!!!! president because he's going to spend four years "kicking asses and taking names," right? But in politics, in foreign policy, the other side gets to kick back. And when you're the president of the United States, you can't make fun of, say, Angela Merkel's [desiccated] menstrual flow, or challenge Vladimir Putin to a penis-measuring contest [THAT has a totally different context now, doesn't it?], or blow off Xi Jin Ping as a "slant-eyed gook" when they refuse to be impressed or cowed by Trump's Trumpiness because boorish bluster can have consequences. Not least of which is making Barack Obama look like the epitome of seriousness and statesmanship by comparison.

Put another way, if Donald Trump can't even hang with Megyn Kelly in a serious conversation without throwing a temper tantrum, how's he going to clean up the godawful mess Barack Obama leaves behind (assuming that he ever leaves)?

UPDATE: Here's an interesting theory for his debate no-show: So he can blame an Iowa defeat on Megyn Kelly and Fox News:

Would [Trump] rather lose Iowa and have to seem weak by making excuses or lose Iowa with a tangible reason that he can echo with his whining about everything being unfairly stacked against him? Remember, he has very little that he can gain from a debate containing substance and this debate will likely focus more on substantive issues than any of the previous debates. He’s good when the topics are fighting ISIS or sealing the border but he fails when they ask him tough question such as how to fix the nuclear triad.

If he wins Iowa without the debate, he’s in the strongest possible position to win the nomination. If he loses but has the Fox News asterisk to place next to his defeat, he’ll attempt to turn that into momentum for New Hampshire and beyond. This cannot be allowed to play out as he has planned. People must be made aware of what he’s going to do so they can see it unfold with discernment. Otherwise, they’ll risk hearing his Pied Piper call.

I dunno; it seems to me that defeat would make him look weak regardless of the excuse, and blaming it on the "mean, unfair" Fox News Channel (sounds like what a Democrat would say, doesn't it?) would be an even lamer excuse.  The core of Trumpism is that Trump never loses.  Not "Trump wins when Megyn Kelly allows it".  Although "Trump debates when Megyn Kelly isn't around" is pretty much the meme he's carrying out now, so maybe he can't discern the difference.

Plus, doesn't the idea that Trump would be laying the groundwork for using an Iowa defeat to set up a New Hampshire comeback quietly presuppose that his defeat in the Granite State is a serious possibility?  Isn't he supposedly up in the polls there by double-digits?  Does he really need a Hawkeye jiu-jitsu crutch?  Maybe he's playing the biggest "inevitability/pre-emption/self-fulfilling prophecy" angle of all time.

UPDATE II: Because....why the hell not?  Heck, it's a public service.

Iranian President Defends Charlie Hebdo Attacks Before Heading To Paris

by JASmius

Twenty-four hours ago:

Pope Francis on Tuesday met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and asked Tehran to work with other Middle East states to promote peace and stop the spread of terrorism and arms trafficking in the region.

Today:

But in an apparent reference to the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, Rouhani said freedom of expression "doesn't mean offending that which is sacred to [Muslims]."

"[Islam is] to be respected, their books and the millions of people who follow the faith," Rouhani said. Insulting them, he said, "creates division and doesn't help anyone."

Well, I suppose that doesn't contradict Francis's request; after all, Rouhani isn't defending jihadism in the Middle East, he's defending it in Europe.

Nice of the Pope to dispensationalize him that loophole, huh?

The Bundy Gang Loses The Second Battle Of Bundy Hill

by JASmius

Well, this sorry episode ended pretty much as ignominiously as I figured it would:

One person was killed and several others arrested in Oregon in a Tuesday shootout between police and anti-government gunmen that had been occupying a federal wildlife refuge.

"Anti-government gunmen".  Sounds more like John Dillinger or Al Capone than it does George Washington, doesn't it?  Are y'all starting to see just how public relations-foolhardy the Bundys' stunt was?

The FBI said that Ammon Bundy, the rancher who led the January 2nd occupation in the northwestern State, was among five people arrested when federal agents and State troopers stopped vehicles carrying the activists on a remote ice-covered highway.

Bundy, forty, faces a federal felony charge "of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation, or threats," the FBI said in a statement.

During the arrest operation "there were shots fired," the statement read.

Of course, there were.

Authorities did not immediately identify the dead person, who the Oregonian newspaper said was group spokesman Robert "LaVoy" Finicum.

At least the Bundys can take comfort in the fact that they got a martyr out of the deal, right?

Not necessarily:

Details of the incident remain unclear, but apparently two men - including Bundy's forty-three-year-old brother Ryan - disobeyed orders and resisted arrest, resulting in shots [being] fired, The Oregonian said.

Leading to the $64 question of who fired the first shot.  A question the answer to which isn't worth even that much because if the Bundys opened up first, obviously that would be a forfeiture of whatever moral high ground they were trying to "occupy," and if it was law enforcement that initiated the hot lead exchange, so what?  Their targets were male, white, conservative, claimed to be constitutionalists, and were "anti-government gunmen".  "Outlaws".  "Criminals".  Or, in other words, precisely as they, wittingly or unwittingly, painted themselves to the entire country.

Oh, yes, and "racists":

The Bundy brothers are the sons of Cliven Bundy, sixty-nine, a racist, vitriolic anti-government activist who in 2014 engaged in an armed standoff with federal authorities over unpaid cattle grazing fees at his Nevada ranch.

Despotic government extortion, actually.  But nobody will ever know or understand that, because the Bundys were fighting the wrong battle.  They thought they were the twenty-first century minutemen and the Malhuer National Wildlife Refuge was their Lexington and Concord.  But the real battle was one of ink and newsprint and pixels.  And there, in the battle that actually mattered, they got slaughtered, and their - our - cause right along with them.

As Rocky Balboa told the loan shark client, "Youse shoulda planned ahead."

UPDATE: Hmmmmm.....

Of course, that doesn't explain why only Mr. Finicum was gunned down and not everybody else in the car.  As for Finicum himself, I'm guessing the reputation the Bundys created for themselves preceded him.

[h/t: Tom Fletcher]

UPDATE II: How'd you like to be a member of the Bundy Gang and hear this?:

The leader of a month-long armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon urged remaining protesters on Wednesday to leave the site and go home, a day after his arrest and the death of a supporter.

Ammon Bundy, who was taken into custody with several members of his group at a traffic stop along Highway 395, north of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in southeast Oregon, urged federal authorities to let his comrades leave the compound without being prosecuted.

"To those remaining at the refuge, I love you. Let us take this fight from here. Please stand down. Please stand down. Go home and hug your families. ... Please go home," Bundy said in a statement read by his attorney, Michael Arnold, following a court hearing.

Jason Patrick, who remained at the refuge following Bundy's arrest on Tuesday told Reuters by phone that some protesters were leaving on Wednesday afternoon through checkpoints set up by authorities, but rejected the word "surrender."

That's exactly what this is.  Also capitulation and running up the white flag.  Heck, it's a sellout and betrayal by Bundy.  He's the one who organized this operation.  He's the one who was "taking a stand against federal tyranny" (kinda-sorta).  He's the one who encouraged all those who followed him into this twenty-first century Alamo.  And now he's folding his tent after a single fatality?  What a RINO wimp.  I bet he has Mitch McConnell's face tattooed on one buttcheek and John Boehner's stenciled on the other.

Of course, in reality Ammon Bundy was brought face-to-face with the reality of what he was attempting.  Leading a "range war" insurrection sounded romanticist, I'm sure, but what it came down to was a one-sided gun battle on a deserted road at night that got one of his buddies killed.  Someone who would still be alive today if he'd made a different choice.

Also, the feds haven't relinquished a single pebble or dirt clod of all the Western land they own, and Dwight and Steve Hammond are still behind bars.  So what did the Bundy Gang accomplish beyond making constitutionalists look "extreme"?  Can we all at least agree definitively, conclusively, and beyond dispute that right once and for all does NOT make might?  Please?

Hillary Clinton: My First SCOTUS Appointment Will Be....Barack Hussein Obama

by JASmius

How afraid is the Empress of a criminal indictment in Emailgate that (perhaps) ends her grotesque presidential ambitions for good?

This afraid:

Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is open to the idea of nominating Barack Obama for a seat on the Supreme Court, she said Tuesday, responding to a question at an Iowa town hall.

“I will certainly take that under advisement,” she said in Decorah, responding to a man’s recommendation. “I mean, he's brilliant, he can set forth an argument and he was a law professor, so he’s got lots of credentials.”

She acknowledged that there might be a few obstacles in the way, first and foremost whether Obama would want the job after eight years in the White House. “He may have a few other things to do,” she said, “but I’ll tell you, that’s a great idea.”

The woman is offering a Supreme Court seat as a more or less open bribe of The One to not prosecute her for her utter shredding of the Espionage Act and the Federal Records Act.  Nothing unseemly about that, is there?  To the contrary, that's La Clinton Nostra SOP.  Business as usual.  Another day at the Clinton Foundation office.

You know why this offer will be rejected, don't you?  Easy - Being an Associate Justice would be beneath Godbama; if he's going to step down to Olympus (and he never will, but work with me, here) it will be for nothing less than the Chief Justice slot.  In that scenario I would expect John Roberts to suddenly develop "health problems," or some sudden, surprise scandal to erupt that forced him to step down, creating the only opening O would accept.

Which he wouldn't.

Meanwhile, the chorus of opinion predicting an indictment of Mrs. Clinton continues to grow:

Veteran political analyst Dick Morris says he wholeheartedly agrees with the prediction made by former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Newsmax TV — Hillary Clinton will be hit with criminal charges for using a private server for confidential government business as [commissar] of state.

"Tom DeLay is precisely right. It either will be an indictment or a leaked FBI memo recommending an indictment. The indictment of course puts Hillary in the spot and may force her out of the race," Morris, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, said Tuesday on Newsmax Prime with J.D. Hayworth.

"A leak of a possible recommendation for an indictment won't force her out of the race, but it will put Obama and Loretta Lynch, the attorney general, on the spot for why they're turning down the FBI recommendation for an indictment and it will cast a pall over the entire process."

Actually, it would cast a pall over FBI Director James Comey for allowing the leaks and probably get him canned for insubordination while Hillary staggered on, untouched by the T-Rex-long arm of the law.  I have to wonder if even a criminal indictment would force her from the race; can't you picture her using that to rally the Democrat base to her cause - "The Vast Rightwing Conspiracy is closing in - help me beat them back and win the best revenge by putting me back in the White House" - to secure her the Democrat nomination?  And what if Lynch okayed the indictment now and then trumped up some excuse to drop the charges as this cycle's "October surprise"?  Wouldn't "HILLARY EXONERATED!" and "HILLARY TRIUMPHANT!" make great headlines to run by swing voters mere days before the November election?  It'd bury all her scandals and completely drown out any issue debate at the same time.

I think Lynch is the one who would wind up with the Associate Justice spot.  And I think it's Obama who will put her there, sometime next year.  After all, Obama does have to leave before any of these scenarios can unfold.  And who says he will?

Obama Illegally Decrees Cuban Embargo Easings While Cuban Illegal Aliens Pour Into U.S.

by JASmius

See if you can spot the one thing that's missing from the quote below - and yes, this is (or ought to be) an easy one:

The [communist-ruled] United States on Tuesday announced changes to its sanctions on Cuba, lifting export payment and financing restrictions and facilitating airline travel in Washington's latest move to ease the U.S. embargo on the communist-ruled island.

The amendments, which take effect on Wednesday, "will remove restrictions on payment and financing terms for authorized exports and re-exports to Cuba of items other than agricultural items or commodities," according to a statement from the Treasury and Commerce [Commissaria]ts.

The changes will facilitate travel to Cuba by allowing blocked space, code-sharing, and leasing arrangements with Cuban airlines, it said.

They will authorize additional transactions dealing with professional meetings, disaster preparedness, information and informational materials, concerning transactions incident to professional media or artistic productions in Cuba, it said.

Give up?  I'm surprised at you.  Or has it been too long since I've posted anything about this particular Obama sellout?

Anyway, what's missing is any mention of congressional actions in this sanctions-lifting.  The latter does constitute lawmaking, after all, and Article I, Section 1 of the United States Constitution allocates the "Legislative Power" exclusively to Congress, not the POTUS.  And I don't recall any congressional legislation over the past year that's taken any such steps towards "restrictions-removal".  Consequently, The One is once again violating the Constitution and federal law to carry out his preferred Agenda item regardless of either and in the teeth of both.

Just thought I would reset this particular table.

O's "opening" continues to have the same effect on its commie beneficiaries as every other such "opening" - the Castro boys are cracking down even harder on their own people and the number of Cubans risking everything to flee their tyrannical nightmare for the U.S. continues to skyrocket:

A new crush of Cuban refugees is expected to swarm the United States border in Texas over the next several days.

KRGV-TV reports that at least seven thousand men, women and children will seek entry through the Port of Entry in Laredo and at the Hidalgo International Bridge in Hidalgo.

Representative Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat representing the Lone Star State's 28th congressional district, said Cuban refugees have started coming into Laredo from Central America through Mexico to the border.

The Border Patrol says they're ready to intercept them and keep them out of the country.  And I believe them, because these are not the "right" kind of illegals, seeing as how they would make his infernal majesty look bad by discrediting one of his core foreign policy initiatives.  That's nothing this POTUS will ever tolerate.

Better luck next time, Giovanni Acosta and friends. It you ever get another chance.

Giant Trump Poster Becomes Pilgrimage Site

by JASmius

I'm not making up that headline, folks.  This is the creepy, unAmerican personality cult that is metastasizing within the Republican Party like the most lethal, rapid form of stage-4 cancer.

Fortunately, this is one crank fanboy on his private property - for now.  If Trump realizes all his ambitions, we can count on such idolatrous displays defacing every public building across the country by Executive decree like his name feces are scrawled across every last one of his misbegotten properties - probably accompanied by some form of official hand gesture, to boot:

[Delusions] of grandeur appear to have passed from Donald Trump to his supporters.

A man has erected a large poster of the Republican candidate alongside a major thoroughfare in Iowa, making it a pilgrimage site for those who marvel at Trump's nonsens[ical] presidential run for the White House.

The four foot by eight foot (1.2 x 2.4 meter) photograph has become a landmark of sorts in a residential suburb of Iowa's capital Des Moines.

It shows Trump with his mouth open in a rictus and his eyes hard and focused, as if he might be unleashing one of his (many) tirades, or delivering a takedown of a rival.

"I've always been a little bit of a Trump fan," said George Davey, good-natured computer engineer by day and inventor by night, as AFP knocked on his door.

Trump supporters - and U.S. media - have flocked to Davey's poster since November. [emphases added]

It's chilling, isn't it?  And I'm not talking about rapturous awe, either,  Does nobody but I see how fascist-grand-spectacle-esque this is?  Complete with quasi-religious terminology and imagery?

Here's a historical reminder....

Sic semper fortes.

This isn't who we, as Americans, are - or were before 2008, at least.  It's definitely not who conservative Republicans have been pre-Trumpmania, and are supposed to still be.  Have so many on the Right really fallen this far, this fast, so mentally addled by irrational, corrosive, raging anger at the GOP "establishment" (a term that has been completely drained of any lingering practical meaning and is now just a sneering epithet, the rhetorical equivalent of an extended middle finger), so self-deluded by the notion that all that's needed to take everything we want is to elect somebody who will "FIGHT!  FIGHT!  FIGHT!" hard enough regardless of the built-in obstacles to such destabilizing change the Founders wrote into the Constitution, that the first demagogue that comes along and tells them what they want to hear, despite having nothing in his background to suggest that he believes a word he's saying or deliver on a single one of his promises (which flip and flop back and forth from week to week and even day to day), can get them to blow their heretofore zealously cherished conservative principles out the nearest airlock without a second thought, vetting-free?

Yes!  They!  Have!  Just look at that downpayment above on the wannabe American il duce....

I've got a few hand gesture suggestions for Presidente di classe, but they're probably not very likely to become "official".

UPDATE: Latest Trump betrayal that should destroy his candidacy but will only make his mesmerized base embrace him all the more passionately:

Money line: “I always had a great relationship with Harry Reid. And frankly, if I weren’t running for office I’d be able to deal with her [Pelosi], I’d be able to deal with Reid, I’d be able to deal with anybody.” This point has been made often, most recently by Andy McCarthy, but it can’t be repeated enough: This guy is on the verge of beating Ted Cruz as an “outsider” by touting his record of cronyism. How can you be anti-establishment, wonders McCarthy, when you’re crowing about your history of essentially bribing politicians, including politicians from the other party? It’s a perfect complement to Trump, the least socially conservative candidate in the Republican field, landing the endorsement of the son of the man who founded the Moral Majority. Trump’s success is like a flashing road sign, “Republicans don’t actually care about most of the things they claim to care about.” [emphases added]

Let me address that by answering the subsequent Allahpundit question:

I don’t understand how Trump fans reconcile the fact that this guy spent six months running as a strong man, who’d impose his will on Washington through a combination of charisma, an electoral mandate, and raw executive power, but has spent most of the last month touting his willingness and ability to make deals with every Democrat in Washington, as if Pelosi and Schumer will accede to his demands out of sheer admiration for his testicular fortitude.

Simple: Trump was lying about being a conservative and a Republican and a "populist" for six months to completely program his supporters to the point where they really wouldn't leave him even if he actually did shoot somebody, and now he feels sufficiently confident to "come out of the closet" as the corrupt, cronyist New York liberal "deal-maker" he's always been, even to the point of openly telegraphing that it will be Schumer and Pelosi with whom he'll be making deals, not Ryan and McConnell, who will, along with their majorities, be totally shut out of the lawmaking process.

Oh, and one more thing for y'all to consider: One of the things that most incensed Tea Partiers about the most recent omnibus continuing resolution for FY 2016 was all the earmarks that flowed so freely as part of the "deal-making" process.  Does anybody believe that with Donald Trump in the White House, earmarks are going to go away?

Old and busted: BUT HE FIGHTS. New Hotness: BUT HE REACHES ACROSS THE AISLE.

Pope Francis Asks Iran To Work For Mideast Peace, Stop The Spread Of Terrorism, Reverse Time, Make Water Run Uphill, Walk On Water & Part The Red Sea

by JASmius

.....the latter four of which I'm sure the mullahs would be perfectly willing to take on if it meant expanding their empire across the Middle East via the proverbial sword and spreading WMD-fueled terrorism across the planet.

I know that Francis is in love with the sound of his own voice, but I wouldn't think even he would be this eager to waste his breath this egregiously:

Pope Francis on Tuesday met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and asked Tehran to work with other Middle East states to promote peace and stop the spread of terrorism and arms trafficking in the region.

And I'm sure they will - in the same way that Chairman Mao used to say that "peace flows from the barrel of a gun".  Once Tehran dominates the entire Middle East, I have no doubt that there will be what the mullahs will undoubtedly dub "peace".  And their dhimmi slaves will be too busy burying all their irradiated dead to engage in any counter-terrorism of their own, so that box will be checked off as well.  Thus will be created a "peace through conquest and enforced surrender" that is the only one the Qu'ran teaches.  If anybody is looking for a just Middle East peace, I don't think Francis is being nearly that particular.

A Vatican statement issued after the meeting spoke of the "relevant role Iran is called on to play" to find political solutions to the problems afflicting the Middle East, specifically mentioning terrorism and weapons trafficking.

Of which Iran is the principle instigator and perpetrator.  If Francis had lived eighty years ago, he'd doubtless have asked Adolph Hitler to attend synagogue service wearing a yarmulke.  How do y'all think that would have turned out?

Iran's president asked Pope Francis to pray for him Tuesday after the two men held private talks at the Vatican.

Rouhani's visit to the Holy See saw the first meeting between a pope and an Iranian president since 1999.

Rouhani (1) is smooth as caramel - everything that his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was not - and (2) knows every bit how much of a fool his Unholiness is and is playing him like a Stradivarius.  Which is his job on the BS tour of Europe on which he's been embarked to lock in European subservience to the Islamic Empire.

Looks like the mullahs' frontman is off to a rousing start.

The X-Files: Founder's Mutation (S10/E2)

by JASmius

Rating: ** (out of four)

Written & directed by James Wong

Did we learn anything new about the new mytharc tonight?  Nope.  This was a "trees" episode to the mytharc's "forest," a case Mulder and Scully are either assigned or stumble upon that turns out to be connected to an aspect of the mytharc that the episode illustrates and nominally advances.  Which made Mulder's remark to Scully about "pulling on threads to see what unravels" very fourth-wall appropo.

The synopsis:

At the headquarters of Nugenics Technology, researcher Dr. Sanjay arrives to work hearing a mysterious high-pitched noise in his head. At a staff meeting, the noise becomes so deafening that he flees and locks himself inside the server room. The amplified sound of a security guard drilling through the lock becomes too much for Sanjay to bear; desperate to stop the noise, he shoves a letter opener through his eardrum, killing himself.

Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigate Sanjay's death. With no information being put forward by Nugenics, Mulder steals Sanjay's mobile phone and contacts the last person he called. At a Washington bar, Mulder meets a man named Gupta, who is revealed to be Sanjay's gay lover.

Which is a shame, because I was hoping Mr. Wong would have named him "Rajesh".

Gupta tells Mulder that Sanjay had been distant and expressed concern that his "kids" were dying. Meanwhile, during her autopsy, Scully finds the words "founder's mutation" written on Sanjay's palm – a reference to Dr. Augustus Goldman, a reclusive individual known as "The Founder." Upon searching Sanjay's apartment in Dupont Circle, the agents discover photographs of disfigured children. When police arrive, Mulder becomes overwhelmed by the noise.

As you were already deducing, this puzzle wasn't all that difficult to put together, and Wong didn't toss in any creative swerves.

Mulder and Scully are given a fake reprimand by FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner to placate the [Commissariat] of Defense, which has ties to Goldman and Nugenics.

Subtle.  So much so that they didn't even need Tad O'Malley to bludgeon us over the head with it.

Observing footage of birds which flocked near the Nugenics building at the time of Sanjay's death, Mulder theorizes that the noise is a frequency normally unheard by humans. The agents visit Scully's hospital to get in touch with Goldman, one of its financial supporters.

There's a plot convenience.

While there, they meet a young girl named Agnes, who expresses a desire to leave and claims her unborn child is abnormal.

And whom you knew would be dead before the final Act.  Which makes you wonder what that nun (Sister Mary) had to do with it, since she was the only hospital official who could possibly have been within earshot.

Outside, Mulder and Scully discuss the possibility that Goldman is experimenting on pregnant women for the project. They also reminisce about their son William, who remains in hiding. Later, Scully has a fantasy about living with William.

"Possibility"?  Try guarantee.  It couldn't have been any more obvious.  Which is why it should have been someone else.  And in the original series, it would have been.  But Chris Carter and his writers only have six episodes to introduce, advance, and resolve this updated mytharc, so they don't have the time to do it well.  Unless the idea is to use this mini-season as an on-ramp to a full one next fall or a third feature film, and if that's the case, the poor quality of its first two offerings don't bode well for its chances of success.

Mulder and Scully finally meet with Goldman, who purports to conduct research on children suffering from debilitating genetic conditions.

And whose transparent villainy was so vividly portrayed by Doug Savant (talk about stage names) that he might just as well have had horns and been wearing a blood-drenched butcher's smock.

During a tour of his facility, they witness a confrontation in which one of Goldman's patients causes objects to move on their own.

Telekinesis.

Soon afterward, they learn that Agnes has been struck and killed by a car, with her fetus mysteriously missing.

Told ya.

The agents next question Goldman's wife Jackie, who has been confined to an insane asylum.

The provider of the missing pieces of the puzzle.

Jackie recalls an incident where her infant daughter fell into a pool and breathed underwater. Realizing that Goldman experimented on her while pregnant, Jackie fled but wrecked her car. Under attack by the noise – her unborn child's attempt to communicate with her telepathically – Jackie cut her uterus open with a kitchen knife; the baby escaped and was assumed dead.

The baby was telepathic, but he was still a baby.  Unless he also had Magneto's powers and could instinctively fly by tapping into magnetic fields, how could he possibly have survived?  And since the piercing screech Dr. Sanjay and Mulder heard turned out to have nothing to do with birds and ultrasound waves or whatever, why was a flock drawn to the now-teenage boy in the next scene?

On their way out, Mulder makes a query to a janitor who is working at the hospital for a contractor.

Speak of the devil.

Through security footage....

You know, the "surveillance state" Mulder was denouncing to Skinner last night but came in handy for him and Scully pretty much throughout this episode.

Mulder and Scully discover that a janitor working at Nugenics reacted strangely at the same time as Sanjay's death. The agents drive to the remote home of the janitor, Kyle Gilligan, and are confronted by his adoptive mother. Mulder is once again besieged by the noise. Noticing a nearby flock of birds, Scully tracks down Kyle and forces him to stop. Upon being taken into custody, Kyle reveals that he killed Sanjay unintentionally and demands to meet his sister.

Obviously Kyle and his sister, Molly, should have been enrolled in Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters.

It's like if Jean Gray had dyed her hair brunette and had a younger brother.

Kyle is taken to Goldman's lab, where he is presented with a girl who Goldman claims to be her sister. However, Kyle realizes she is a decoy and runs down the corridor, where he finds the irate patient from earlier – his real sister, Molly.

Given that he knows his kids are telepathic, why would Goldman try to fool his son and risk his telekinetic wrath?  Isn't this guy supposed to be intelligent?  But then finesse and diplomatic flim-flammery would have lent this character more than a single dimension - which, again, is all the episode had time for.

After speaking to each other telepathically, the siblings repel the agents and kill Goldman before escaping.

By making his head explode, a la Scanners.

By far, the most entertaining thing in this episode.  I'm guessing we'll see Kyle and Molly again before the mini-season is over.

The plot was even more constricted than it needed to be by the hamhanded insertion of fantasy sequences depicting first Scully and then Mulder imagining how their lives would have been different if they had kept and raised their son William.  Indeed, the plot was subservient to that theme as a stimulant for it, which tells me that we're going to become reacquainted with young Bill Scully as well before the six-installment run is complete.

In its own context, I can certainly understand and sympathize with Mulder and Scully's plight; the what-ifs and what-might-have-beens, the anguish that the life of danger and horror and conspiracy and all-around nastiness into which they thrust themselves (like twin hurricane eyes, but I digress) denied them any kind of normal life that would include having been able to get married and have a family.  I especially appreciated Mulder watching 2001: A Space Odyssey and making and launching model rockets with William, both the sort of geeky activities you'd picture him sharing with his son, down to the JFK moon mission speech.  It was very true to both characters.

And then Mr. Wong had to go and spoil the fantasy by not letting either Mulder or Scully be able to keep the reality of why they sent William away from intruding, Scully by seeing William turn into an alien creature and Mulder watching him get abducted just like his sister was.

I could almost say that this episode couldn't make up its mind between the mytharc "loose thread" and the larger theme it was designed to uphold.  Ironic that even with that unevenly executed dichotomy, there still wasn't enough of either to fully flesh out an entire hour.

Next: The token "creature feature".

Obama Projects Unrecognizable Vision

By Douglas V. Gibbs

According to the New York Times, President Barack Obama said in an interview "that politics in America has become 'meaner' than when he took office, but expressed hope that Republicans would eventually turn away from the 'expression of frustration' and anger that Donald J. Trump and Senator Ted Cruz were offering to voters."

He went on to say that the Republican candidates for president were more outside the mainstream than Senator John McCain was during the 2008 campaign..."John McCain was a conservative, but he was well within, you know, the mainstream of not just the Republican Party but within our political dialogue"...voters would have to judge "the degree to which the Republican rhetoric and Republican vision has moved, not just to the right, but has moved to a place that is unrecognizable."

Obama's hopes, he said, is that the Republican Debates would work their way back to the center.

If anything, most of the Republicans of today are to the left of what the GOP was in past decades. Even the so-called center has moved leftward.  Thanks to the extremism of today's radical Democrats, everything has moved so far to the left, that the United States Constitution, which is technically dead center on the political spectrum, looks like it is a far right document.  The problem is, the Democrats, and especially President Barack Obama, see the federal government as an entity that must be continuously doing for the public, coddling those they believe can't do for themselves, and punishing those who succeed in achieving individual wealth.

The United States Constitution, a standard that some Republicans are reaching back to, is seen as a mean-spirited document by the Democrats.  Barack Obama has proclaimed it to be a document filled with "negative liberties that tell the government what it can't do, rather than what it should do."  The voters who have fallen for the liberal left progressive Democrat message views the GOP as evil, mean, and stupid largely because of propaganda such as Obama's recent "unrecognizable vision" comment about the GOP candidates running in the 2016 Presidential Election.  And, frankly, when one of those voters sees his or her Democrat candidate is an incompetent politician who is untrustworthy and dishonest, they will still vote for the Democrat because an incompetent liar is still better than a "racist, bigoted, fear-mongering, evil Republican."

The problem is, Mr. Obama was not describing Republicans at all when he talked about the mean-spirited unrecognizable vision of the GOP.  He was projecting the reality that his own party has become an extreme version of its former self, with an unrecognizable vision that strays so far from the Constitution that the Democrat Party agenda has more in common with the policies of old Soviet Russia, than it does with the limiting principles of the American System.

In a recent conversation with a local politician, he told me his biggest problem with some folks is that they have done little by way of proposing changes and additions to what the local government accomplishes.  The person he was referring to is a friend of mine, a fellow constitutionalist who believes the government that governs least governs best.  Personally, I don't want government at any level to be constantly trying to figure out a way to expand, and grow, and do more things.  I want government to figure out how to reduce itself to a size that fits within the authorities granted to it.  Individual self-reliance, and personal responsibility, is sort of a big thing with me, so why would I want my representatives seeking to grow the power and scope of government?

From the view of the Constitution, the constant expansion of government through Obamacare, the redefinition of our God-given rights, the exertion of greater control over the banking system, the manipulation of the economy through printing fiat money and forcing upon private businesses wage increases, the increase of direct taxation, making flawed agreements that gives aid and comfort to our enemies, importing members of an ideology that teaches their followers to commit violent terrorism against the United States, increasing government control over our energy usage and environment, overturning State laws and State Constitutional amendments on State issues through activist federal judges, and seeking to infringe on the gun rights of Americans is an unrecognizable vision that is mean-spirited. . . and frankly, is illegal according to the United States Constitution.
