The New York Times is reporting that President Obama has hardened his tone toward Iran. In reality, Obama finally gave in to the critics, and decided to say a little something about the violence, and the Iranian Government's handling of he situation. However, he still refuses to encourage the protesters, and their fight for freedom.
Some would say, "better late than never," but when it comes to dealing with Mullahs, late is nearly the same as never.
Obama is spending too much time worrying about upsetting the totalitarian leadership, so he's trying to be careful in what he says. After all, we don't want to upset the bad guys too much. They might not want to negotiate with Obama later.
Reagan didn't worry about upsetting the Soviet hardliners when he encouraged the Solidarity movement in Poland - and taking a stance on the side of freedom led to the fall of the Soviet Empire.
Obama doesn't want to side with freedom. He would rather try to make sure nobody gets upset with him, even though they will, anyway.
