Jesus was born to die. John 3:16 reads: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I Corinthians 15:4 reads: And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Jesus Christ is the only figure in history to conquer death. He is also the only one ever to perform miracles that involved creation. He made a man blind from birth to see, and this angered the Jewish leaders of the day, because such a miracle required the creation of the parts of the eye necessary to make this man see again. Creation, such as that, could only come from God.
Matthew 1:23 reads: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).
God was made flesh and walked among us as Jesus. He was born of humble beginnings in a manger, and He died on The Cross with criminals. Yet, He was a King. The King of Kings. He knowingly succumbed to the torture of Pilate, and lived his life knowing that he would be gruesomely crucified on a cross. He was beaten and pierced as payment for the sin of the world, and when the worse had come, when an average man would curse his abusers, and lash out at those causing him pain, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. (Luke 23:34)
The gift of salvation was paid with a horrible price, and all we must do is ask, and we shall receive.
Easter celebrates the moment that He rose from the dead, conquering death as only God with us could. Jesus Christ is risen, and alive, and at the right hand of The Father.
Romans 6:23 reads: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
He was born, crucified, and rose from the tomb for you. All other religious figures lie rotted in their graves, but our Savior is Alive.
