Hillary Clinton Ties Up Reporters @ Independence Day Event

by JASmius

Again I am forced to ask: Can you imagine the media reaction of a Republican ever pulled a stunt like this?  Which is why, of course, no Republican ever would:

Democrat presidential [candidate] Hillary Clinton did little to improve her reputation for keeping the press at a distance on Saturday when her aides held a rope to keep reporters from getting to close to her in a parade.

Tie up, rope off.  I could have headlined this post, "took into custody" or "segregated" instead, but the hyperbolic imagery seemed appropriate.

Reporters initially were allowed closer to [Mrs.] Clinton at the annual Fourth of July parade in Gorham, New Hampshire, Fox News reported, but were then pulled back by two [Rodham] staffers holding a rope that pulled reporters back as the staffers walked ahead of [Mrs.] Clinton in the parade.

i.e. The Empress's minions physically accosted reporters.

The campaign said the purpose was to allow residents along the parade route to see [Mrs.] Clinton, the New York Post reported, but the bad optics weren't missed by members of the press who quickly began tweeting out photos of their colleagues literally being dragged back by a rope.

IOW, even her biggest media backers weren't buying her BS.  And why would they have believed this particular excuse, since she has at least as much contempt for ordinary citizens as she does for the press, if not more.

Not for the first time do I pose another question: Why does the media keep taking her crap?  Her Nib keeps treating the press like the latter falsely accuse Republicans of wanting (but never daring) to do, and they keep bending over and taking it and asking for more, or at the very least dutifully enduring it.  It's almost akin to battered wife syndrome.

Or, to put it another way, the press is as much ensnared in the Hillary trap as the rest of the Democrat base.

And that helps explain the otherwise unlikely meteoric rise of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who didn't waste any time in exploiting the aforementioned "bad optics":

Sanders even gave a shout-out to Republicans who were in the state to March in [Independence Day] parades.

"Today, Republican presidential candidates marched in parades across New Hampshire that were open to the public without obstruction from their staff," Sanders said in a prepared statement. "Their efforts to reach out to voters and engage in retail campaigning stand in sharp contrast to Secretary Clinton’s arrogant and shameful behavior."

Weekend Bernie hit a two-fer: Creating an illusion of bipartisan statemanship and drawing additional attention to Mrs. Clinton's utter death of it.

And of course, further exacerbating her alienation of the media, and ingratiating himself to them at the same time.

I guess that's a four-fer, isn't it.

No wonder he's running her down in the polls.
