ObamaCare Will Make "Economy Smaller"

by JASmius

But first, a table-setting appetizer:

As analysts scramble to explain away the sharp and unfavorable revision to the first-quarter's gross domestic product, it's tempting to dismiss that 2.9% drop given that weaknesses in the healthcare sector was a major driver of the contraction.

In other words, the impact of the ObamaCare cataclysm.

But it's important not to lose sight of a much bigger and consequential issue.

Overall, the first-quarter drop — the worst in five years — involved very broad sectorial weaknesses that spoke to much more than the negative impact of bad weather and industry-specific factors like healthcare. It also points to underlying economic conditions that remain weak and concerning despite several years of healing facilitated by exceptionally accommodative monetary policy. [emphasis added]

In other words, there has been no genuine "recovery".  Only a stuporous "drugging" of the comatose "patient" with an "overdose" of worthless Federal Reserve "analgesics".  Because, you see, if the "recovery" were genuine, the economy wouldn't be vulnerable to "trip-ups" and "stumbles".  In reality, it is still in "intensive care," and is being slowly, steadily poisoned to death by the "physicians" charged with its "care," and all this fiction about a "recovery" is its "near-death experience".

And now, the main course:

The [Una]ffordable Care[-Less] Act will eventually push the United States into a new recession, says Dr. Casey Mulligan, a professor of economics at The University of Chicago.

"ObamaCare is going to eventually make the economy smaller,'' Mulligan told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I can't tell you when it's going to happen, but if you're going to go to a lower level, you have to go downhill for some period of time.''

Well.  Since the U.S. economy has already resumed shrinking, we can only conclude that O-Care will make the slide precipitously steeper and more rapid - correct?  Almost as if this were all a comprehensively orchestrated, engineered, across-the-board conflagration.  Permanent depression, hyperinflation, the inevitable cries of an ignorant public for the government to "do something!"  All fits together nicely, doesn't it?  After all, it did in 2008, setting the stage for all that has followed.

I'm starting to revise my estimate of when O's Final Crisis hits.  I had thought it would be during or before 2016, but now I'm wondering if it might not land before this November's midterms.  The "fundamental transformation" process couldn't be implemented fast enough to save a Democrat House in 2010, but it could certainly regain it, and hold the Senate, in 2014.  Why give Republicans an even hypothetical chance to stop the planned coup?

Not that the GOP civil war isn't already aiding in that regard.

Ted Cruz: Has Obama Armed ISIS Terrorists?

by JASmius

This is from a week ago, but no less relevant a question now:

Senator Cruz's most consistent error is in persisting in the belief that the Clinton-Obama pro-jihadist foreign policy is "erroneous".  Is it really that big an intellectual chasm to bridge to realize that maybe, just maybe, the Regime wanted the American position in the Middle East to collapse?  And that perhaps Barack Obama fully endorses "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright's post-9/11 thunderation that America "had [al Qaeda's mass casualty attacks] coming" and deserves even worse "punishments" to come?

Besides, the chasm in question isn't all that wide.  Whether Obamunists have always been jihadi-symps or devolved to that view because their moral narcissism wouldn't allow them to admit the error to which Senator Cruz refers, the end result is the same.  So why give them the benefit of the doubt?  It's not as though inter-partisan "kid gloves" are going to make the slightest bit of difference.

It also renders his question rhetorical - Of course Barack Obama armed ISIS.  He was doing so out of the Benghazi consulate long before they picked up all the military hardware we left behind in Iraq.  It's almost an insult to our intelligence.  Which, of course, is why he posed it to Erin Burnett, because she has no intelligence to insult.

Folks, it's dumbasses like Justin Ross Harris that both elect Obamunists and provide them with the ammunition for all their cherished nanny state fascism.  So well done, Justin, well done.

I'm sure your son was.

Megyn Kelly's 88-Second Rant On "Fundamental Transformation"

by JASmius

Or, "Megyn Kelly morphs into Jeanine Pirro."

Yeah, it's quite a pickle, isn't it?  But this is what 62 million zombified mall-walkers, the glimmering product of "progressive" education, voted for.  Twice.

In the past, the electorate has made mistakes, certainly - Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Harry Truman, JFK, LBJ, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton - but, for various reasons, including good fortune and God's grace, we've either not repeated those mistakes, at least not consecutively, or somehow managed to survive them.  But this time is different.  Barack Obama is different.  Never before have we elevated an avowedly anti-American enemy of the Republic to the highest perch of power in the land, much less kept him there when we had the one constitutionally apportioned chance to get rid of him.

Now we have.  And the territory ahead, as I foresaw twenty months ago, is an uncharted disaster area.

This, in turn, is why I disagree with Megyn and others on the Right about the assertion that the Obamidency is "imploding".  Quite the contrary, gentles - it is EXploding.  The comprehensive collapse of America - economically, at the former border, overseas - combined with the avalanche of what would, in the old days, have been described as "scandals," and the imperious - one might say "royal" - way that his infernal majesty soars above it all, unconcerned and almost oblivious to how anybody can question any of it, is conclusive proof that the "fundamental transformation" of America that he promised in 2008 has already come to pass.  And in his mind, there's not a damn thing we can do about it.

Is that conclusion premature?  Only time will tell.  But I will say that we can only hope that he's as "incompetent" at his endgame as so many patriotic commentators to this day seem to think he is about everything else.

New IRS Emails Show Lerner Targeted GOP Senator Charles Grassley For Audit

by JASmius

Not really a bombshell, as such, since at this point Lois Lerner's bona fides as an institutional partisan assassin for the Obama White House are well, well established.  Yet breathtaking in the stratospheric degree of brazenness it takes to go after a sitting opposition Senator, not to mention the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, on the flimsiest pretext that happens to fall into her lap:

Startling new emails from the woman at the center of the IRS tea party-targeting scandal show that in 2012 she suggested referring Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley for a possible audit.

The email exchange —  released by the Republican-controlled House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday —  took place in December 2012, and shows that Lois Lerner, former director of the IRS' Exempt Organizations Unit, mistakenly received an invitation to speak at an event. Her invitation was meant for Grassley.

Lerner and Grassley were both invited to speak at a seminar, ABC News noted. The group mixed up their tickets and Grassley’s invitation indicated the group was also paying for Grassley's wife to travel and attend the seminar. Grassley's wife, Barbara, is a lobbyist.

The House Ways and Means Committee did not name the group hosting the seminar, but said instead of forwarding the invitation to Grassley's office, Lerner immediately suggested that the issue should be referred for examination.

Referred for examination when, and before, any wrongdoing had taken place.  First, receiving such an invitation is not illegal.  Second, the Grassleys accepting the invite and attending this seminar would not have been illegal unless they hadn't included any perqs Mrs. Grassley had received on their 2012 F1040.  So....either Lois Lerner didn't understand the law her division of her agency is charged with enforcing, or she was so used to abusing that police power that she just did what came naturally to her.  And that was....

....exploiting what she saw as an opportunity.  Both diverting public attention from IRSgate by bringing down the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee as a "tax cheat" and perhaps the organization that put on the seminar as part of Chuck Grassley's eeeeeevil "conspiracy".  "Don't worry, my fellow Americans; Lois Lerner is on the case, seeing gestating Republican cultures of corruption and aborting them before they can even be born!" Barack Obama would have thundered at his "bombshell" presser.

Don't hold your breath waiting for him to hitch himself to this wagon now.  In fact, this "bombshell" email revelation further compartmentalizes IRSgate as something Lois Lerner did.  She is the White House's second line of defense after the "handful of rogue agents in Cincinnati" BS.  And since she's out of the Regime, and all the true "bombshell" emails linking the scandal to the White House are, supposedly and conveniently, "gone" - which is itself a diversionary tactic, as the recycling of Double-L's hard drive cannot preclude the emails' being on other servers elsewhere, it just makes them that much harder to forcibly divulge - each and every disclosure of all the outrageous abuses she carried out in Barack Obama's name further stokes "Lernergate," as opposed to IRSgate, with nary an Obama fingerprint in sight.

I could quote the bland "official" IRS "We can't comment on this other than to say that we would NEVER to ANYTHING like THAT" statement, but what would be the point?

Hard Starboard Radio: Texas Two-Step

Homeland Security Commissar Jeh Johnson is a shaved-down Eric "The Red" Holder; The Border Patrol union says poor medical screening risks new virus outbreak in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona; Border area ranchers are under attack from invading illegal aliens; The Left's apocalyptic fear of a Hobby Lobby SCOTUS win on freedom of religion; Spinning the Q1 2014 GDP collapse; and Barack Obama has clear sailing to use his powers however he chooses.

Spinning A GDP Disaster

by JASmius

The Obamaconomist fantasy.....:

When the government updates its estimate Wednesday of how the U.S. economy fared last quarter, the number is pretty sure to be ugly. Horrible even.

The U.S. economy shrank at a steep annual rate of 2.9 percent in the January-March quarter as a harsh winter contributed to the biggest contraction since the depths of the recession five years ago. That was its bleakest performance since early 2009 in the depths of the Great Recession.

So why aren't economists, businesses or investors likely to panic?

Because most agree that the economy last quarter was depressed by temporary factors — particularly the blast of Arctic chill and snow that shuttered factories, disrupted shipping and kept Americans away from shopping malls and auto dealerships.

.....and the brutal reality:

Remember when in January 2014, Q1 GDP was expected to rise 2.6%? Well, here comes the final Q1 GDP revision and it's a doozy: at -2.9%, far below the -1.8% expected and well below the -1.0% second revision, it is an absolute disaster, and is the worst print since Q1 2009.

And while a bad GDP print was largely expected, the driver wasn't: personal consumption expenditures somehow crashed from 3.1% to just 1.0%, far below the 2.4% expected, meaning that all hope of a consumer recovery is dead. Finally, as a reminder, US GDP has never fallen more than 1.5% except during or just before an NBER-defined recession since quarterly GDP records began in 1947. Good luck department of truth propaganda machine, because even assuming 3% growth every other quarter in 2014 means 2014 GDP will be 1.5% at best.

This GDP collapse was not the result of it being a bit nippier outside than normal.  It's is the result of Obamanomics, ObamaCare, and pretty much the entire "fundamentally transformative" White House agenda.  Period.

It does, though, help explain Hank Paulson's ridiculous punchline from yesterday.  Impose carbon tax, shut down energy production, eliminate "carbon pollution," and voila!  No more nippy winters, and prosperity flows like a middle aged man's urine after an overdose of FloMax.

The more likely result?  The Obamapression's second "official" recession and "negative growth" for 2014.  Which will be due to an unusually hot summer, of course.  People indiscriminately taking off their clothes and keeping each other away from shopping malls and auto dealerships and such.

Boy, global warming sucks, doesn't it?

Issa: I’d Give Lerner Immunity For "Meaningful" Disclosures

by JASmius

I"m sure he would.  Unfortunately, that's not the order in which those two items typically come:

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa says he's willing to consider immunity for former IRS official Lois Lerner, but he wants to know what she plans to say first.

"If she were willing to proffer through her attorney that she would tell us something meaningful, disclose how these crimes were committed, how they sought to and who sought to go after conservative groups because of their values, then we could, and I would … have a vote to grant her immunity," Issa said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor."

If, if, if.  If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.  If I had a Star Trek replicator, all my material problems would be over.  If either of our two kitties looked like Grumpy Cat, I could voluntarily retire.  If I had a Star Trek holosuite with a Jessica Alba program, you'd never see my fat ass again.

But here's what would happen.  Right now, Lerner will just keep pleading the fifth like a parrot with Tourettes, and that's what prompted Chairman Issa to cut short the last hearing at which she "testified".  If he grants Lerner immunity, she will resume claiming that she's "innocent and misunderstood".  He could refer additional criminal charges to the Injustice & Revenge Commissariat atop the four he has already, but those referrals would go to Attorney General Eric "The Red" Holder, who will bury them.  Consequently, Lerner has zero fear of criminal prosecution for the risible lies she continues to spin, and thus Chairman Issa has no leverage over her.

House Republicans are, in a word, powerless.

Yes, yes, I know, Congress does have the constitutional authority to impeach and remove from office Executive Branch officials.  The House could file articles of impeachment against whomever they want - John Koskinen all the way up to The One himself - all the live long day.  But at the present time, they have no power to compel Harry Reid to hold a Senate trial.  Even if they did, there'd never be two-thirds or more support for conviction (Think Democrats in and out of the media wouldn't be willing to full-throatedly defend the IRS?  Or, more likely and effectively, demonize Republicans for impeaching whomever in the first place?  It'd be Shutdowngeddon all over again).  And even if the process did get that far, Congress wouldn't have the power - the legal authority, yes, but not the power - to force any Executive Branch official's departure.  O would just sign an executive decree of reinstatement, flip off congressional Republicans, and go play his 7,382nd round of golf.

This is why no scandal - not Benghazigate, not IRSgate, not all the various and sundry, unprecedentedly vile abuses of power - will ever damage Barack Obama in the slightest.  He exists and rules completely above and outside of the law, and thus no legal, constitutional means of discipline and accountability can restrain, much less topple, him.  The only other possible means of coercing the 44th POTUS would be politically, but (1) he'll never face another election, no matter how rigged, and (2) even if he did, the media would still protect and extol him.

As Thomas Sowell wrote yesterday, Barack Obama isn't a "lame-duck president"; America is a lame-duck country.

Darrell Issa knows all of this.  It's why he hasn't offered Lois Lerner immunity.  He and his committee would just get double-crossed and screwed.  Again.  One more episode in the ongoing mockery of justice for which sixty-two million Americans twice knowingly voted.

I would advise Chairman Issa, all House Republicans, all Senate Republicans, all Republicans and conservatives and Tea Partiers everywhere to pace their frustration and spluttering anger.  Because the worst is unquestionably still to come.

Hard Starboard Radio: The IRS & The Obactopus

Hillary Clinton incapacitates her own party; but might they nominate her anyway if they knew her health wouldn't last and a running mate like, say, Julian Castro a heartbeat away from the "Big Chair"?; The IRS canceled its contract with its email-storage firm right after Lois Lerner’s computer crash; Congress doesn’t have prosecutorial power, but it could act to remove those responsible, if those responsible would ever leave; But that just highlights the insoluable quandary: Federal agencies now exist not for the public good but for their employees’ benefit and Obama’s agenda.

The end has begun at 6PM Eastern/3PM Pacific.

Regime Archivist: IRS "Didn't Follow" Law With Lost Emails

by JASmius

....but they didn't break the law, oh heavens, no:

The Internal Revenue Service did not follow the law when it failed to report the loss of records belonging to a senior IRS executive, the nation's top archivist told Congress Tuesday.

"Any agency is required to notify us when they realize they have a problem," David Ferriero, archivist of the U.S. during a House Oversight and Government Reform committee hearing....

Pressed by a congressman, Tuesday, Ferriero would not state that the IRS broke the law. He would only say that the agency didn't "follow" the law.
Does anybody - anybody at all - still think the Obama White House is in any trouble or legal jeopardy over IRSgate?  At least in their own estimation?  I know that the Left has hijacked the meaning of most words in the English language, but if an agency is required - which in this context generally means by law - to do something and they do not do it, they have broken that law.  Not "bent" it, not "tweaked" it, not "twerked" it, not "stretched" it, not "failed to follow" it, but broken it.

But, hell, what's one more broken law for this bunch at this point?  You could probably more quickly count the number of laws they haven't broken versus the ones they have.  And yet it doesn't change anything, and they know it, because, once again, they have all the power and they know nobody and nothing can touch them.  Period.

Or, at least, they believe that.  And they have yet to be disproven in that belief.  And so their mockery of justice oozes onward.

Today's punchline?:

The National Archives and Records Administration did not learn about the lost records until earlier this month, Ferriero said.

They probably saw it in the news, I'm supposing.  Doesn't everybody?

Michael Barone: Hillary Can't Win Democrat Nomination On Her Own

by JASmius

Nice to see the dean of moderate political analysts jumping aboard the "Not Ready For Hillary!" bandwagon:

Hillary Clinton could face an uphill battle in her presumed quest to become president — from her own party, says Michael Barone, senior political analyst for the Washington Examiner....

'The problem she faces, on the one hand, it's clear that she would be better off in the general election running for the third Clinton term rather than the third Obama term.

"But it's also clear that the rising tide of sentiment in the Democratic Party is on the left,'' he said Monday.

First of all, we don't have to worry about Hillary running for the third Obama term because Barack Obama will be handling that task.

However, on the off chance that there is a 2016 election, we also don't have to worry about the Empress running (again) for the third Clinton term because of my oft-stated reasons: The Democrats are not dynastic (the Kennedys excepted).  They don't nominate "the next in line".  They DO nominate the young, dynamic, charismatic charlatans that dazzle and bamboozle the low-information voters that constitute the majority of the American electorate, presuming there is one available.  And in this instance, they have one Julian Castro tanned, rested, and....

.....not yet ready.  Currently he's only the mayor of San Antonio, Texas, hardly a high or broad enough platform from which to launch a bid for the presidency.  Plus, his home state is still deep, deep "red," and thus its governorship is way out of reach at the present time.  Ditto either of its U.S. Senate seats, for those who can't get it through their thick skulls that the federal upper chamber is where presidential ambitions go to die.  So although J.C. is without question "The Hispanic One," he's not in a position to "jack in" to the presidential "Matrix," as it were.

But a slot on a Hillary Clinton 2016 ticket, particularly if she sold it that way?  The Manchurian path might await:

A new provocative work by bestselling author Ed Klein claims Hillary Clinton's health problems are much more severe than she has publicly revealed.

"She had managed to keep her medical history secret out of fear that, should it become public, it would disqualify her from becoming president," writes Klein in "Blood Feud"....

Hillary fainted while she was working in her seventh-floor office at the State Department, not at home, as Reines told the media. She was treated at the State Department’s infirmary and then, at her own insistence, taken to Whitehaven to recover. However, as soon as Bill appeared on the scene and was able to assess Hillary’s condition for himself, he ordered that she be immediately flown to New York–Presbyterian Hospital in the Fort Washington section of Manhattan. When Reines subsequently released a statement confirming that Hillary was being treated at the hospital over the New Year’s holiday, it naturally intensified speculation about the seriousness of her medical condition.

While she was at the hospital, doctors diagnosed Hillary with several problems.

She had a right transverse venous thrombosis, or a blood clot between her brain and skull. She had developed the clot in one of the veins that drains blood from the brain to the heart. The doctors explained that blood stagnates when you spend a lot of time on airplanes, and Hillary had clocked countless hours flying around the world.

To make matters worse, it turned out that Hillary had an intrinsic tendency to form clots and faint. In addition to the fainting spell she suffered in Buffalo a few years before, she had fainted boarding her plane in Yemen, fallen and fractured her elbow in 2009, and suffered other unspecified fainting episodes. Several years earlier, she had developed a clot in her leg and was put on anticoagulant therapy by her doctor. However, she had foolishly stopped taking her anticoagulant medicine, which might have explained the most recent thrombotic event.

“The unique thing about clotting in the brain is that it could have transformed into a stroke,” said a cardiac specialist with knowledge of Hillary’s condition....

According to a source close to Hillary, a thorough medical examination revealed that Hillary’s tendency to form clots was the least of her problems. She also suffered from a thyroid condition, which was common among women of her age, and her fainting spells indicated there was an underlying heart problem as well. A cardiac stress test indicated that her heart rhythm and heart valves were not normal. Put into layman’s language, her heart valves were not pumping in a steady way."

I envision the Democrat equivalent to the Bush-Quayle '88 ticket.  Pappy Bush could never have gotten elected president on his own, but running for the "third Reagan term," and naming a young, dynamic (before the media destroyed him) conservative protégé as his running mate and heir apparent did the trick.  With the media propelling her candidacy, Hillary, seeking that "third Clinton term," and tapping Mayor Castro as her "wingman," could conceivably make that same template work, especially if the Tea Party fragments the Republican field again and precludes a Scott Walker GOP candidacy.  The Democrats would then have a lock on the next twelve years at minimum.  Sixteen if Hillary survived two terms.  But, more to the point, they'd have an insurance policy against Mrs. Clinton dropping dead, and they'd get their next Great Minority Hope to the throne years before it would otherwise have been possible and maintain hard-left continuity in the absence of an Obama coup attempt, perhaps rendering a later Castro coup attempt unnecessary, as the country would, if it hasn't been already, be "fundamentally transformed" beyond recovery.

Actually, it's the scenario I originally assumed back in 2008, with King Hussein in the "wingman" role.  Which means Castro, should he choose to run prematurely, will probably submarine Hillary! as well and go on to victory in November 2016.

Assuming, as has been rumored, that Castro doesn't accept a Cabinet post from The One, thus making him beholden to Obama Nostra first before La Clinton Nostra can even get to him.

All this scheming is enough to give one heart trouble, it really is.

ISIS Caliphate Includes No Israel

By Douglas V. Gibbs

As ISIS works its way through Iraq, the terrorist network is doing more than just divide Iraq.  The entire Middle East is falling apart.  ISIS has disrupted and taken control of the region's most important trade routes, while also recruiting folks from all over the Muslim Middle East to join their hardline Islamic cause.  In Iraq alone, some 6 million Iraqi Sunnis recently have become supportive of the ISIS lightning strikes in the Sunni portion of the country. The borders between Syria, Iraq and Jordan are dissolving, becoming a blur, losing the definitions of their former selves.  Border stations have been seized, and a new caliphate, a caliphate led by ISIS, is emerging.

For the insurgents, capturing the frontier is a dramatic step towards the goal of erasing the modern border altogether and building a caliphate across swathes of Syria and Iraq. ISIS is also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham. “Sham,” or “Greater Syria,” refers to Cyprus, Palestine,
Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and southern Turkey.

ISIS claims to have access to nuclear weapons, and once the caliphate expansion across Syria and Iraq is complete, and ultimately capturing the entire Middle East, their first target, they say, will be Israel.

The Islamist organization believes it currently has massive regional support for its rapidly expanding ‘revolution of the oppressed.'

ISIS estimates it will take 72 months to “liberate” “Occupied Palestine,” or Israel.

One ISIS member was reported as saying: “All countries in this region are playing the sectarian card just as they have long played the Palestinian card, but the difference with ISIS is that we are serious about Palestine and they are not. Tel Aviv will fall as fast as Mosul when the time is right.”

ISIS appears “eager” to fight Israeli armed forces “in the near future despite expectation that the regime will use nuclear weapons.”

“Do you think that we do not have access to nuclear devices?” an ISIS member said. “The Zionists know that we do, and if we ever believe they are about to use theirs, we will not hesitate. After the Zionists are gone, Palestine will have to be decontaminated and rebuilt just like areas where there has been radiation released.”

Trey Gowdy vs IRS Commissinoner

by JASmius

The House Select Benghazigate Chairman transphasic torpedoing the smug-assed John Koskinen.

Aside from a time machine I could use to unwind the past five and a half years, there is nothing in the cosmos I would want more than for Barack Obama to be sitting behind that big, white name tag instead of this department store mannequin to get the hell drilled out of him by the gentleman from South Carolina-4.  If the House does end up impeaching Red Barry, there is no way - no way - that Trey Gowdy cannot be the lead prosecutor in the Senate trial.

IRS Scandal Hammer Drops, As Democrats Hide the Truth

By Douglas V. Gibbs

When the IRS was caught red-handed targeting conservative groups, and it turns out that the designed assault upon The Right frightened republican donors from giving up much needed funding during the presidential election of 2012 and may have very well influenced the outcome of the election, for those allied with the Tea Party it confirmed what conservatives always believed.  As the scandal deepened, and then IRS Chief Lois Lerner not only denied knowledge, but claimed that the IRS had not even considered targeting Obama's opposition, relegating the responsibility down to a few renegade employees in Ohio, the distrust of the IRS heightened.  Then, while questioned by Congress, after denying any wrongdoing and knowledge, Lerner pleaded the Fifth, for fear of incriminating herself if she said anything more.

Something was being hidden, conservatives believed, and despite all liberal left cries to the contrary, the investigation moved forward.

Barack Obama, at this stage, as he has done with any scandal, to reduce questions regarding his involvement, distanced himself from the scandal, and even created other situations as distractions.  The compliant media participated as well, though showing some disagreement with what had happened when the scandal first emerged.

As with other scandals, the Republicans recognized that the smoking gun probably existed in communications between various members of the Obama administration, be it by memo, or emails.  Their investigation began to chase after these alleged communications, and conveniently, the communications turned out not only to be gone, but through a technical error described as the crash of a hard drive.

The common sense of the average individual in society, and the knowledge of those that have spent time on the inside, cried foul.  Is the government so inept that it can't even keep record of important IRS emails, yet claims to be effective enough to handle everyone's medical records in line with Obamacare?

Reality dictates that the emails are not lost.  Emails are not stored on a single hard drive.  There are servers used, and multiple storage locations.  The only key would be finding them as the government used a strategy of duck and dodge, while throwing up distraction after distraction to get the people to the point that they just didn't care anymore.  Emails are the least of the Obama administration's concerns, when dreams of political domination and eliminating the existence of the GOP is on their plate.

Thankfully, the Republicans have not given up.  As the Veterans Affairs scandal, Benghazi, and the Berdahl prisoner swap emerged to create a blitzkrieg that may derail the GOP's investigation into a scandal that Americans on both sides of the political spectrum were at one point angry about, the republicans have moved forward, demanding answers, and demanding the missing emails.

The latest decisive hammer to drop has fallen upon IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, as he thrashes in the waters of lies and deception by the democrats while the GOP uses hearings to find the emails tied to the agency's tea party targeting scandal that have allegedly disappeared.

The emails, covering the period January 2009 to April 2011, belonging to former IRS head Lois Lerner, are vital pieces of evidence that can reveal the liberal left Democrat Party's devious scheme to single out conservative groups for special scrutiny, and that the scheme was guided by members of Congress and Obama administration officials outside the IRS.

The request for the emails went out over a year ago, and the democrats shuffled their feet, refusing to answer subpoenas, until they had hatched their story about the destruction of the emails.  According to House Oversight Committee Chairman Representative Darrell Issa, "...we subpoenaed the emails in August 2013 and again in February 2014."  He accused those involved of covering up the fact they were missing, and only came forward to fess up after having been caught red-handed."

"You personally did not cause the targeting," he told current IRS chief Koskinen, "You personally did not destroy the emails. But by your actions and your deception, you now own this scandal."

In the world we the people live in that would be called "obstruction of justice," and is a very serious offense.

"We have a problem with you," Issa sniped, "and you have a problem maintaining your credibility."

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen maintains that there are no back-ups, and that the loss of Lerner's emails was due to an oddly timed glitch.

Other subpoenas have gone out, including White House lawyer Jennifer O'Connor, who, through her boss, told Congress she will not appear.

Refusing to appear is also a big deal in the real world, but these people seem to believe they are above the law.  But with failure to provide information and records, Lerner's refusal to testify, and the refusal of others to testify, it leaves the investigators no choice but to believe that something is being hidden.  How convenient that the smoking gun in the form of emails have suddenly disappeared, and not just any emails, but specifically the emails subpoena'd over a year ago.  Sure, it is not unusual for computers to fail, as Koskinen has testified, but that is exactly why government has so many back up systems in place.

Koskinen claims just this year alone, partly due to budget cuts and the IRS using obsolete equipment as a result of limited funding, over 2,000 employees have suffered hard drive crashes.

Yet, these are the same people in charge of keeping our tax records straight.  These are the people trusted to enforce the Obamacare fine. . . tax . . . penalty. . . unconstitutionally mandated payment for a federal intrusion into the private industry forced upon the people of the United States.  And remember, this is just a small, failed part of a much bigger federal government that tells you that you need more government, that they can be trusted to run our lives, and force their policies upon us.

The obvious, however, is not that they are incompetent, or that their aged equipment has failed.  The truth is much more sinister than that.  The truth is that the democrats are hiding the truth, that they purposely targeted Obama's enemies with the goal of punishing his enemies, and politically annihilating them.  All hands on deck were aware, and are participating.  Lies, deception, and totalitarian dreams.

We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg regarding the corruption, lies, and lawlessness of the Obama regime and his democrat minions.  The truth is being covered up.  America is being lied to, including those that believe Obama to be the second coming of whatever savior they believe him to be.  All Americans are being lied to, all Americans are being used as tools in a scheme to maneuver the democrats into a socialist scheme of power only used by tyrants and dictators.

As Issa hammered home, "So the American people should believe that if they don't have the resources to pay their taxes, they shouldn't pay their taxes, because if the IRS doesn't have the resources, it won't keep records?. . . resources are a question of whether or not you retain key documents."

Like Obama on every scandal that comes his way, Koskinen insists that he did not know what was going on, and he had only been told that there was an issue that no one knew the ramifications of.

"The first time I knew that emails had been lost from her account was in April."

So it is safe to say the federal government, who tells us they are the salvation of society, and that their ruling elitism is necessary for our country to run properly, don't know jack about anything.

"My time has expired," Issa interjected while Koskinen spoke. "And I've lost my patience with you."

I have a flash drive that can save eight gigs of information, but the government can't even keep track of a few emails.  Are they that technology impaired?  The answer is no.  They are simply that bad at lying.

"They’re stored somewhere," Koskinen then said at one point.  "They get taken off and stored in servers... we can find Lois Lerner’s emails."

The republicans howled over this, since Koskinen had previously testified that the emails were gone for good, and that the IRS had 'recycled' the hard drive.

Audible gasps echoed throughout the hearing room as he voiced that admission.

Government rules require IRS offices to back up email messages to 'a separate electronic record keeping system.'

During Friday's Ways and Means hearing, when Koskinen was indicating the emails were lost forever, Republican Representative Paul Ryan insisted, "Nobody believes you."

Lerner is already charged with Contempt of Congress for refusing to answer a subpoena from Issa by testifying about a years-long scheme to use the IRS to hamstring conservative groups.

"I believe Lois Lerner is hiding something," Issa said.

"I believe the Justice Department, the IRS, and the White House are interested in her succeeding in hiding what she’s hiding, which is targeting of conservative groups based on their ideology in support of the president’s war on Citizens United, a Supreme Court decision that he didn’t like."

"This is something he vehemently opposes," Issa said, "and Lois Lerner acted on his opposition."

He also suggested the Obama administration is aware that his committee's investigation into the IRS is getting perilously close to the White House itself.

"Could it lead to political operatives of the president?" he asked. "Yes."

Koskinen insisted that the IRS is working as fast as possible to give Congress all of Lerner's emails and won't apologize for the loss of countless documents because of a claimed computer crash.

Former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner has invoked the Fifth Amendment twice while under subpoena to avoid testifying about her role in the tea party targeting scandal.

Congressman Issa said in response to all of this, "a year ago, when news broke that the IRS had targeted Americans because of their political beliefs, President Obama pledged, 'we will work with Congress as it performs its oversight role.'"

"I’m disappointed that one year later, the White House has attempted to block this Committee’s first request for voluntary cooperation from a White House official."

Obstruction of justice.

And they will not get cooperation from the White House, not because there was no wrong doing, but exactly for the opposite reason. . . and because the democrats believe they are above the law, they believe they do not have to answer for any wrong doing, because lying, cheating, corruption, and illegal activity is acceptable in their eyes when it is for the purpose of protecting, and promoting the liberal left agenda.  It is the liberal left democrats from of the Muslim practice of taqiyya.

7.9 Alaska Earthquake Generates Tsunami Fears

By Douglas V. Gibbs

A 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Alaska's Aleutian Islands this afternoon, triggering a tsunami warning that was later downgraded to a tsunami advisory.  The advisory was cancelled a few hours later.

The earthquake struck the western end of the island chain, alerting nearby Adak, a town of 325, after the shake and roll inspired tsunami fears.

Residents say they have felt worse, but as they headed for higher ground, an hour after the quake water was reported leaving the harbor.

The earthquake hit at 12:53 p.m. at a depth of 62 miles, 15 miles northwest of Amchitka, and 29 miles southeast of Little Sitkin Pass. The U.S. Geological Survey initially listed the earthquake at a magnitude of 7.1, which was later revised to 8.0, then revised again to 7.9.

"The depth of this earthquake will limit the extent of tsunami danger," the updated tsunami warning said.

The strongest aftershock reached a magnitude 6.0 eighteen minutes after the initial rumbling, with a 5.9 magnitude aftershock at 1:30, and by 3 p.m., seven earthquakes of magnitude 3.7 or higher.

Jeanine Pirro On ISIS: "They're Coming For Us"

by JASmius

"[Barry], you are playing a very dangerous game, for which you are ill prepared, and it is the American people who will suffer," says Judge Jeanine Pirro in her opening statement, regarding the rise of ISIS and radical Islam terrorism throughout the middle-east.

"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me," as the saying goes.  An argument can be made that the Clinton Regime should have seen the 9/11 attacks coming, but not We, The People, because we had no frame of reference to have had foreknowledge of such an expectation.  America hadn't been attacked at home like that since Pearl Harbor.  It resided in the realm of the "unthinkable".

But the next 9/11 or worse?  We'll deserve it.  Why?  Because we said, "never forget" after 9/11 and forgot in barely seven years.  Because we elected Barack Obama as POTUS - not once, but (allegedly) twice.  Our jihadist attackers will be slaughtering us with our own weapons, led by chieftains released from our illegal combatant prisons.  Every bullet, every pound of TNT, every rem of radiation, every gallon of flaming jet fuel, every horrible, needless American death will come, gift-wrapped, from the throne of King Hussein himself.

And We, The People (allegedly) put him there.

The lesson too few will learn?  Electing Democrats is a comprehensive national death wish.  And yet we keep on doing it.  So whose fault is it, really?

Oil Price Risks Put Inflation Back In Focus

by JASmius

Sounds downright....transformative, doesn't it?:

Iraq will be foremost in investors' minds in the coming week as oil price risk has returned to markets, complicating the task for central banks whose policies are beginning to diverge for the first time since the global financial crisis.

Oil prices neared nine-month highs late last week, touching $115 a barrel in New York futures trading, and the rapid advance of militants in Iraq, the second-largest OPEC producer, is destabilizing oil markets.

That has implications for inflation in the United States and Europe, as well as Asia's export-oriented economies that are large net importers of oil.....

"Just as oil prices had become increasingly stable, we reckon the risk for an oil price spike is now the highest since the global crisis," said Christian Keller, an economist at Barclays. "We think a further price spike of 10% to 15% from here is not implausible," he said....

Fits right in with O's 2008 promise to make energy prices "necessarily skyrocket," doesn't it?  Combine that with his unconstitutional imposition of cap & trade by executive decree and continuing embargo on U.S. domestic energy exploration and the stage is set for another calamitous economic "event".

That's the "stag" part of the equation.  And the "flation" part is following right behind:

In the United States, investors will be looking to the third and final reading of U.S. first-quarter GDP figures on Wednesday to see if there is a revision of the 1% contraction already printed and which followed disappointing March trade figures.....

Core U.S. consumer prices have risen 2% over the last year. If the inflation rate went much higher, it would put pressure on the Fed to consider moving to raise rates.

Aaaaaaaand what happens if the Fed raises interest rates?  The interest on the on-books federal debt rises with it, federal interest payments "surge," the deficit/debt problem metastasizes into its final crisis, contributing to the already existent economic emergency, creating a runaway collapse inevitably compelling calls for the government - which is to say, Barack Obama - to "do something!", and, well, I think you can see where this is headed.  Either that, or, given the extent to which the Obama debt sinkhole has been monetized by the Federal Reserve, a runaway hyperinflation landing the nation in pretty much the same place of prostration.

True, those are the worst case scenarios.  But the question isn't one of "if," but of "how soon".  History shows how quickly these "events" can happen.  And The One needs them to unfold in the next two years.

The stage is set, and the fuse is primed.  All that remains is ignition.

Now you know why he still smokes.

Mayors Demand Immigration Solution From Congress

by JASmius

Now we see another insidious purpose of the Obama White House's "flooding the zone" illegal immigration strategy:

Mayors on Sunday called for Congress to draw up bipartisan legislation to address the surge of illegal immigrants into the United States and asked for help to ease the resulting financial burden on local governments.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors said at its annual meeting in Dallas they are asking congressional Democrats and Republicans for legislation to increase border security and support city and state governments whose finances are being strained by costs associated to illegal immigration.

"Forget the D thing. Forget the R thing. This is an American issue," said Anaheim, California, Mayor Tom Tait, a Republican and co-chair of the Immigration Reform Task Force, a bipartisan group within the United States Conference of Mayors.

Since October, 52,000 unaccompanied children have arrived on the U.S. border with Mexico, the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday, underscoring an immigration problem seen by the White House as a humanitarian crisis.
Actually, Mayor Tait, the only thing keeping illegal immigration from being a partisan issue is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  But it most definitely does have partisan implications, which is why the Regime is doing everything it can, irrespective of the Constitution, to encourage and facilitate it.  Because the more foreign Latinos they can import, the tighter Democrats' electoral grip on the nation becomes.  It's as simple as that.

Overwhelming state and local governments with this influx - the artificially-engineered, deliberately induced "humanitarian crisis (and isn't it clever of The One to glom Sarah Palin's description of it?) - was a stroke of genius.  Even if the U.S. Conference of Mayors is lobbying for tighter border security and not for de facto amnesty, it creates another source of pressure on congressional Republicans for "bipartisan immigration legislation" to help counter the pressure against precisely that from the center-right grassroots.  Democrats, of course, do not have to be so pressured, because they know that once such legislation gets any momentum, they can and will steer it into the "comprehensive immigration reform" that passed the Senate a year ago.

Also, Obamunists have no objections to making States and municipalities even more fiscally dependent on the federal government than they were already.  That's what makes this aspect of their angle so insidious: that its ostensible justification is not only reasonable - making the feds "pay" for the humanitarian crisis they inflicted on States and cities - but it's based on a conservative-ish premise.  Republicans can see their point and plight even as they must resist their entreaties for assistance that would exacerbate the crisis and seal their own electoral, and the country's civic and economic, doom.  And that can only deepen the intra-GOP rift on this issue.

Can House Republicans run out the remaining two months on this Congress's legislative clock?  Or will they unwittingly succumb by passing a border control-only bill that will be guaranteed to be transmogrified into Schumer-Rubio in conference committee?  That question just got a lot more complicated.

When America Jumped Cicero

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Ancient Rome did not begin as an empire bent on world domination.  The civilization in Rome began as a republic that was individual-centric, defending individual rights through a system based on a written constitution (twelve tables) and a representative government based on the rule of law, rather than the rule of man.  Rome prospered under the guidance of an honest government, but began to crumble once the republic was set aside.  The legislature became irrelevant, and the judicial system became a puppet of the leadership.  A system of a redistribution of wealth was established, and the standards of morality were abandoned.  Women could abort their children up to the age of two, by leaving their child on the side of the road to die from exposure to the elements.  Homosexuality was normalized, and orgies were common and celebrated.  Right became wrong, and wrong became right.

About 79 B.C., a young lawyer, Marcus Tullius Cicero, preached that it was time to return to honest government.  He felt that Rome could still be saved.  Cicero recognized that though they were tossing aside standards set by the early Romans, and the citizens were no longer worried about defending their rights, instead living on the gifts from the treasury the politicians had offered them for their votes, they had not passed the point of no return. They were fat, immoral, careless, and happy to live on the government's offerings, which had been taken by bureaucratic chicanery from the substantial men of business, but if the people would only realize their folly, and fight to restore the republic, Rome could be turned around.

Change could not occur through the courts, Cicero realized after a conversation with his mentor, Scaevola.  "Of what use are records presented to tribunes, consuls, or senators if the government is determined to rob and destroy a man who had displeased them, or who possesses what they want?"

During a case when Cicero fought for a client's defense against confiscatory taxation, he proclaimed, "we are taxed in our bread and our wine, in our incomes and our investments, on our land and on our property, not only for base creatures who do not deserve the name of man, but for foreign nations, for complacent nations who will bow to us and accept our largesse and promise us to assist in the keeping of the peace - these mendicant nations who will destroy us when we show a moment of weakness or our treasury is bare. We are taxed to maintain legions on their soil, in the name of law and order and the Pax Romana, a document which will fall into dust when it pleases our allies and our vassals. We keep them in precarious balance only with our gold. Is the heart-blood of our nation worth these? Shall one Italian be sacrificed for Britain, for Gaul, for Egypt, for India, even for Greece, and a score of other nations? Were they bound to us with ties of love, they would not ask our gold. They would ask only our laws. They take our very flesh, and they hate and despise us. And who shall say we are worthy of more?"

Cicero did not save his client. But he did live to argue the cause of honest government and to talk with Sulla, the Dictator (Senate appointed leader), about integrity and fair dealing. Sulla had little faith in the people. He believed them too deeply interested in their own welfare to concern themselves, too timid to stand up for their rights. He told Cicero the middle class, the lawyers, the physicians, the bankers, and the merchants would make no sacrifices. He said none of your lawyers will challenge the lawmakers and cry to them, "This is unconstitutional, an affront to a free people, and it must not pass!" He asked, "Will one of these, your own, lift his eyes from his ledgers long enough to scan the Twelve Tables of Roman Law, and then expose those who violate them and help to remove them from power, even if it costs their lives? These fat men. Will six of them in this city, disregarding personal safety, rise up from their offices and stand in the Forum, and tell the people the inevitable fate of Rome unless they return to virtue and thrift and drive from the Senate the evil men who have corrupted them for the power they have to bestow?"

Rome continued to decay. The liberties of the people were being trampled upon in the name of emergencies (crisis), or they were relinquished voluntarily so as to be awarded government benefits.

Cicero, in his Second Oration before the Senate, had this to say: "Too long have we said to ourselves 'intolerance of another's politics is barbarous and not to be countenanced in a civilized country. Are we not free? Shall a man be denied his right to speak under the law which established that right?' I tell you that freedom does not mean the freedom to exploit law in order to destroy it! It is not freedom which permits the Trojan Horse to be wheeled within the gates. . . He who is not for Rome and Roman Law and Roman liberty is against Rome. He who espouses tyranny and oppression and the old dead despotisms is against Rome. He who plots against established authority and incites the populace to violence is against Rome. He cannot ride two horses at the same time. We cannot be for lawful ordinances and for an alien conspiracy at one and the same moment. Though liberty is established by law, we must be vigilant, for liberty to enslave us is always present under that very liberty. Our Constitution speaks of the 'general welfare of the people.' Under that phrase all sorts of excesses can be employed by lusting tyrants to make us bondsmen."

Years later Cicero appeared before the Senate again.

He said "The Senate, in truth, has no right to censure me for anything, for I did but my duty and exposed traitors and treason against the State. If that is a crime, then I am indeed a criminal."

Crassus, Caesar and Pompey were in the hall listening to Cicero, but turned away to reject his words. He said to them, "You have succeeded against me. Be it as you will. I will depart."

He then told the Senate: "For this day's work, lords, you have encouraged treason and opened the prison doors to free the traitors. A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the carrier of the plague. You have unbarred the gates of Rome to him."

Cicero was exiled from Rome for his words. From outside of Rome he continued to plead the cause of honest government. The people were not concerned. They were satisfied living a mediocre life on the public dole. His friends were also satisfied, and did not wish to make waves. They were lawyers, doctors, and businessmen, and they told him, "We do not meddle in politics. Rome is prosperous and at peace. We have our villas in Caprae, our racing vessels, our houses, our servants, our pretty mistresses, and our comfort and treasures. We implore you, Cicero, do not disturb us with your lamentations of disaster. Rome is on the march to the mighty society, for all Romans."

Cicero was in despair. He began to write his book De Legibus, but Atticus, his publisher, asked, "But who will read it? Romans care nothing for law any longer, their bellies are too full."

Cicero, however, was not completely unheard. Brutus, the long-time sycophant of the ambitious Caesar, went to Cicero with his plea that something be done to save the nation. He confessed his error, he said he had believed in Caesar. Brutus believed that Caesar would restore the republic. Caesar had betrayed his trust.

Cicero replied, "Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and gave him triumphal processions and laughed delightedly at his licentiousness and thought it very superior of him to acquire vast amounts of gold illicitly. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the 'new, wonderful good society' which shall now be Rome's, interpreted to mean 'more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.' Julius was always an ambitious villain, but he is only one man."

Another man read Cicero's writings, and admired them.  His name was Thomas Jefferson.

The question is, have we, the United States of America, crossed the line that Cicero recognized in Rome?  Or are we still in a period like that just prior to the birth of Cicero?  Have we jumped Cicero, or are we on the verge of the final decline of our civilization?
