Syria Government Kills Children in their Beds With Nerve Gas Attack

As we read about the horror of Assad's tactics, we must also remember that the rebels in Syria are backed by the Muslim Brotherhood.  A "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario for the rest of the world. We are horrified by the deaths, but we must ask ourselves, "Should we even be involved in the first place?"

Syria's darkest hour: Hundreds of children's bodies piled high after nerve gas attack near Damascus leaves up to 1,300 dead

-Activists claim 1,300 killed in government rocket strike on residential area. If true, it would represent the worst known use of chemical weapons since Saddam Hussein gassed thousands of Kurds in the town of Halabja in 1988.

-Chemical warheads hit suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar. They hit just before dawn as families lay sleeping.

-A UN team is in Syria to probe chemical weapons use by President Assad.

-Many countries have called for an immediate investigation. French Foreign Minister has called the attack an 'unprecedented atrocity'.

-William Hague said hopes attack will 'wake up some' who support Assad.

-Claims come as refugees flood into Iraqi Kurdistan.

The world has looked on in horror as graphic images emerged showing the aftermath of a dawn poison gas attack in the suburbs of Damascus that wiped out 1,300 people as they lay sleeping in their beds.

Syrian activists accuse President Bashar al-Assad's forces of launching the nerve gas attack in what would be by far the worst reported use of poison gas in the two-year-old civil war.

Activists said rockets with chemical agents hit the Damascus suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar before dawn.

While pictures of dead children are graphic, disturbing and undoubtedly the worst so far to have emerged from the conflict, MailOnline has made the decision to publish them in order to raise awareness of the plight of innocent people in a war that shows no sign of ending.

GOP Establishment's Argument for Amnesty

The Republican Party's RINO Establishment is going off the deep end. . . with amnesty:

From Breitbart:

Exclusive: GOP Establishment Uses Obama's, Left's Data to Argue Amnesty 'Creates Jobs'

The American Action Network (AAN), a GOP establishment organization headed by former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN), is trying to argue that passing an amnesty would “create jobs.” Coleman went to lead AAN, an establishment group openly advocating for amnesty, shortly after he lost his reelection to Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) back in 2008.

Optimism: Opiate of the Masses

By Douglas V. Gibbs

One of the key aspects of my efforts regarding educating people about the principles of the U.S. Constitution, in the hope that doing so will assist in facilitating a dramatic turn around of American politics, is optimism.  America's best days are not behind her. The beaten down persona of our nation under Barack Obama is not the new normal. We are Americans, and we will persevere.  We have tasted liberty, and once experienced, liberty is not something easily relinquished.

Last night, I attended a meeting hosted by The John Birch Society, and the Sons of Liberty Aleworks, in Norco, California.  The aim was to bring together the leaders of the various patriot groups of the Inland Empire in order to form some kind of coalition. The idea is that we have strength in numbers - or as I say on Constitution Radio every Saturday, "United we stand, combined we kick butt."

John L. Hancock, author of "Liberty Inherited," discussed how at an event in another State organized by a major conservative media voice the overall feeling was one of pessimism, as if it was time to hang it all up and go hide in a concrete bunker.  He said he was depressed by the end of the event.

I reminded the group that the American Revolution was fought by only three percent of the population, and by God's Grace, we were victorious.   Divine Providence has not left us. We can beat back the onslaught of leftism that has entrenched itself in Washington.

This morning, during the early hours of my work day, I was talking to a liberal left Marxist acquaintance of mine who laughed at my optimism. "Your optimism for a continuance of the bondage of capitalism," he said, "is like religion.  It gives hope for unfairness, and poverty of the people while the rich get more powerful.  Your hope and optimism is an empty promise. It is opiate for the masses."

I refuse to believe idiots like him represent the new voice of America.   The United States has not taken a left turn.  The recent election was not the result of a nation deciding the extreme leftism of the current Democrats is where they want America to go.  We outnumber the leftists.  We just have to show up at elections.  The problem is, leftism has a grip on most of the Republican Party as well. That is why pro-Constitution voters have been staying home on election day. So, along with educating the public, we need to make sure we get pro-Constitution candidates on the ballot.
Hence, the idea behind the new coalition.  We need strength through uniting, a united voice beating the Left at their own game.

The coalition has promise. Let's just see if it can weather the attacks once the liberal left progressive Democrats discovers its effectiveness and decides to launch attacks against it.

I believe they will, and I believe despite those attacks, this coalition will make a difference. I am optimistic.

Invited: So Cal John Birch Society

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Tonight I am attending a meeting sponsored by the Southern California chapter of the John Birch Society.  The aim of the get-together is to bring together the leaders of the various patriot groups of the Inland Empire.

The head cookie of the John Birch Society's local chapter called me last night, saying something about me being an influential voice in the area, and he hoped I would be able to attend tonight.

A few tea party leaders and conservative event organizers I know will be there as well.

I am looking forward to it.

An Early Dance of Fright

By Douglas V. Gibbs

A brief moment awake.  The clock's glow reveals I still have an hour before my 2:30 AM reveille A brief moment, and then the hour is gone.

A brief moment on a seat.  I struggle between life and sleep, rubbing my eyes all the while.

A brief moment she creeps, malice in her mind and soul for this moment.  The door opens ever so slowly, my hunched body in view.

"Boo," she says.

The fright will someday drop me dead, but wide awake for the day I am, so sweet is the cool morning air.

An Electric Morning

By Douglas V. Gibbs

I was up at 3:15 this morning and as I pulled onto the freeway around 4:00 am lightning was brightening the otherwise dark sky. Rain began to pelt my windshield.   Big ol' drops, the kind you normally only see during thunderstorms in the South.

The rain came and went, and the streets were dry at my destination, but in the distance I could still hear the rumbling of thunder.

I welcome the cool morning. Heat is only hours away.

29 Years of Marriage, for a pair of high school sweetharts

Has it been a smooth ride the whole way?  Of course not.  But after being married as long as we have, we are at a very good place in our marriage. . . and in fact I think we love each other more now than ever before.  The joke goes, we used to argue about money, and the kids.  The kids are grown up and gone, and she went out and got a job.  We're good.

29 years, met in high school (first pic), two kids, and six grandchildren.

I love ya, honey.  Happy Anniversary.

Let's eat.

Allen West: Obama's Pentagon Placing Homosexual Couples Above Wounded Warriors

Allen West: “Over the past two days there has been an interesting paradox emanating from the Pentagon, which no one is paying attention to.”

by Allen West Via Facebook

Over the past two days there has been an interesting paradox emanating from the Pentagon, which no one is paying attention to. It seems that next month the US Military is opening up benefits and post housing privileges to same-sex couples. And those in same-sex relationships who are not married are being granted leave to travel to states where same-sex marriage is allowed, in order to get married and qualify to receive these benefits and privileges. On the other hand, Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) where our wounded warriors are assigned to recover from their horrific injuries, just announced deep budget cuts. Imagine this, the Pentagon is granting leave for same-sex couples to travel to get married, but the WRAMC Warrior Cafe is now closed on weekends. Priorities?

Spilling of Innocent Blood: Moral Madness, Depravity of the Left

The stories are piling up faster than I can write about them, but as I was telling a friend earlier regarding Newt Gingrich's comment that the GOP needs to come up with an alternative to Obamacare, my response was, "The liberal left is populated by a people that have departed from what is moral, ethical or sane.  The Demoralization of the liberal left has become so complete that the scales over their eyes disable them from seeing the truth of their sickness.  They are morally bankrupt, and it is more than just a disease. . . it is out and out madness.  An absolute mental sickness that has blinded them in a way that is indescribable.  We don't need to offer alternatives to their policies. . . we need to defeat their policies.

As the abortion debate in America is being waged, and infanticide is acceptable to Obama and his minions, around the world the sickness is even worse.  Here is what I mean:

Canadian Medical Association: Babies Not Human Until Birth

Concerned about the renewal of an abortion debate in Canada, the delegates to the Canadian Medical Association’s annual general council meeting yesterday made a head-scratching determination: babies are not human beings until after birth.

Seemingly following the warped and twisted thinking of philosophers like Peter Singer, who supports infanticide, the doctors supported keeping the standard in place in Canada that doesn’t regard unborn children as people until birth.

What this means is, in Canada, according to the Canadian Medical Association, you can spill the innocent blood of your baby the day before its due date.

And don't forget, in Britain they have determined:

Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say

Parents should be allowed to have their newborn babies killed because they are “morally irrelevant” and ending their lives is no different to abortion, a group of medical ethicists linked to Oxford University has argued.

The article, published in the Journal of Medical Ethics, says newborn babies are not “actual persons” and do not have a “moral right to life”. The academics also argue that parents should be able to have their baby killed if it turns out to be disabled when it is born.

The journal’s editor, Prof Julian Savulescu, director of the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, said the article's authors had received death threats since publishing the article. He said those who made abusive and threatening posts about the study were “fanatics opposed to the very values of a liberal society”.

The article, entitled “After-birth abortion: Why should the baby live?”, was written by two of Prof Savulescu’s former associates, Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva.

They argued: “The moral status of an infant is equivalent to that of a fetus in the sense that both lack those properties that justify the attribution of a right to life to an individual.”

Rather than being “actual persons”, newborns were “potential persons”. They explained: “Both a fetus and a newborn certainly are human beings and potential persons, but neither is a ‘person’ in the sense of ‘subject of a moral right to life’.

In ancient times the most wretched, evil civilizations sacrificed their babies to gods they created, and in Rome, at one point, it was legal to leave your child on the roadside to die from the elements if you didn't want the child up to the age of two.

Email of the Week: Comparing Socialism to the Classroom

This is an old antidote, but it is right every time. . .

From Travis via Facebook:

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that. (Please pass this on) These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Can you think of a reason for not sharing this?
Neither could I.

Rock Band KISS Brings Football Back to Los Angeles

By Douglas V. Gibbs

I have a television in my office, and I tell people it is good for two things: Baseball and Football.

Sorry to disappoint all of my liberal readers who were fully convinced it was on Fox News all the time.

I live in Southern California, and I hate the San Diego Chargers.  As a Raiders fan, my team is not exactly right up the street, and Los Angeles no longer has a team - for some time now.

For a while, my wife and I attended the Los Angeles Avengers games, and we love Arena Football.

Thanks to the tongue flicking, makeup wearing rock band, KISS, Arena Football will be back, and of course the team will be named the LA KISS.

Beggars can't be choosy.  A team named KISS is better than no team at all.

It could be fun.  A game, and a concert. . . or maybe a game that'll be like a concert.  Either way, it promises to be a good time.

Mock Obama? Then You Must Undergo Sensitivity Training

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The re-education camps of lore, used by despotic tyrannies during the darkest moments of the world's history, seems to be a good idea to leftists - especially if a rodeo clown dares to mock his highness, the great and powerful Wizard of Obama.

After being fired and banned from ever doing his job again in the State of Missouri, the rodeo clown that dared to don an Obama mask in mockery of the President, has now, by his actions, encouraged a cry by the Missouri State Fair organization to "force all clowns to undergo sensitivity training."

In other words, in their best Orwellian impression, "think the way we want you to think, or you will be punished, and taught to rethink your thinking."

Back in the first decade of this new millennium it was thought to be a courageous act if you were to a clown wearing a Bush mask, and a Hitler mustache.

By the way, I used to have a picture of someone dressed as a clown with a George W. Bush mask on, and a Hitler mustache. I even saw that image a couple days ago on Facebook, but I didn't tag it or share it.  In fact,  in the past, and on Facebook, I've seen numerous images like that.  Now, on Google, no matter how much I searched those images, I could not find them.  It is almost as if Google has removed any reference to those images in an attempt to hide the hypocrisy of the Left.  You know, by getting so damn upset that somebody would dare act in a manner deemed disrespectful to their prophet, messiah, and all-powerful leader.

The state fair commission voted ratify its decision to ban for life the clown in question who wore an Obama mask. The rodeo announcer and a second clown wearing a microphone asked whether the crowd wanted to see him get run down by a bull.

The crowd enthusiastically approved.
Now, I want people to understand that generally, people who oppose Obama could care less about his racial heritage.  it is his politics, and total disregard to the Constitution that has people so tee'd off with him.  It is the liberal Democrats that always bring a racial component into the argument.   That said, I have no doubt regarding the political persuasion of the spectator who, according to one account of the instance,  compared it to a Ku Klux Klan rally and said his mixed-race family felt threatened.

The Missouri State Fair commission went further than just banning the offensive rodeo clown.  Now, they will require that before the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association can take part in any future state fair, “they must provide evidence to the director of the Missouri State Fair that they have proof that all officials and subcontractors of the MRCA have successfully participated in sensitivity training.”

How long before governments jump on that bandwagon, requiring sensitivity training for any political dissidents?  How long before they wrap up their assault on speech rights?

With "hate crime" legislation already in place, it may not be that far down the road.
Stalin would be proud of today's Democrats.

Murphy's Law Destroys My Day

By Douglas V. Gibbs

I have not been feeling good all week, so I took today off from work to relax, and get my strength back - under the recommendation of my doctor who said I was moments away from pneumonia when I walked into his office.  The medicine makes me drowsy, but at least I will finally get a chance to rest.

I was also jazzed over getting my Friday off from work because we've been working 14-16 hour days, of late.  The paycheck has been good, but my body is on its last leg.  I never seem to get a day of rest, especially one where I can just work on my website and book without interruptions, and without all of the other stuff I do getting in the way.

This morning I fired up my computer, pulled up my word processor, and decided the work on my book would commence right after I finished a couple posts for my Political Pistachio website.  Then, the Murphy's Law of impossibilities happened.  On my day off, the one day where I was going to be able to spend all day on my computer, early in the morning, some idiot crashed into the electricity green box (whatever the heck the real name is, I don't know) knocking out the power for our entire neighborhood.  Estimated time of completion of repairs?  Tonight between five and seven.  So I used the battery of my computer until it was whining and dimming, and I used my hotspot for Internet since along with electricity the Internet connection went down, to write the posts.  My battery lasted a few hours, and then I had to use my smart phone to finish the third post.  My book never got touched.

When my wife called me for lunch, I got a great idea to solve my dead battery problem with my laptop.  After lunch I would take my computer someplace where I can plug it in and work with a drink at my side, and a quiet mumble of discussion in the room.

On my way to her job, in perfect Murphy's Law fashion, I hit every red light, just as they turned red which means I had to wait the full cycle, and then when I decided I was going to cut across where I shouldn't down the right turn lane for a block, a cop showed up in a driveway from the mall to convince me to change my mind, and I ducked into that turn - which sent me into a maze of parking lots that slowed me down even further.  I was ten minutes late picking up my wife for lunch.

After lunch, I took my laptop to McDonalds, got myself a smoothie, plugged in, and began working.  Murphy was not done messing with me yet, however.  Two tables away from me was an old black man wearing an Obama cap.  He quickly noticed my "Right-Wing Extremist" cap that on the side says, "I'll keep my guns and money, you can keep the change."  He wanted to debate, and now hours later I am finally ready to work. . . my whole day, gone, because some idiot can't drive - and here I am at McDonalds, with the after-school kids now coming in, trying to write as the noise level escalates.

Damn you, Murphy. . . Damn you to Hell!

Egypt Muslim Brotherhood Killing Christians, Nuns - Media Ignores The Stories, Obama Supports Islamists

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Some call it "ethnic cleansing," but what is going on in Egypt more resembles "religious cleansing."  Since the clashes between the military and the Muslim Brotherhood has begun, the Islamists of the Brotherhood have killed hundreds of Christians, and have torched over fifty churches.

In one of those attacks, the Muslim Brotherhood attempted to burn nuns alive while they were still inside their church.  Nuns fled a convent in Suez that was set ablaze.  The convent has a school, a sort of orphanage, with a dispensary, and as the sisters were working, Islamists set the buildings on fire.  They began with the church, and then threw fiery devices into the dispensary. Eventually, every building, and the nearby trees, were all on fire.

The Islamists also worked to burn Christian schools at the facility, and other ones nearby belonging to the Franciscans.  The school at the convent has around 500 children.

This kind of murderous actions against Christian neighborhoods and facilities is not isolated to Suez.  Around Egypt Christian homes, churches, schools and other facilities have been under attack.

And what is the American response?

The Obama administration has stated that they oppose the military cracking down on the Islamists that are protesting, and killing Christians, in support of the Muslim Brotherhood.  The media has been silent, in support of Obama's position, as a result.

You heard that right.  The democrats in power are supporting the slaughter of Christians by Islamists by coming down in opposition to the Egyptian military for trying to stop the slaughter.

It has been Obama's policies that have brought about this "Day of Rage," and now they are doing what they can to keep the killing in high gear until the Muslim jihadists finally gain full control of Egypt. . . and the Muslim World.

Chaos by design.

Gun Control Issue Resolved in 1791

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Our rights are natural, given to us by the Creator.  So, with that in mind, understand that The Second Amendment does not give you the right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment does not protect you against the government from taking away your guns. Your rights are given to you by God, and protecting your rights are your responsibility.

In today's America, there is a concerted effort to remove your gun rights.  But the right to keep and bear arms is so entrenched in the fabric of our society, the statists that desire to disarm you are also using a method that goes after the ammunition.  Bullets are hard to come by, of late.  Certain kinds of ammo, like hollow points, are under fire.  In California, starting in January of 2014, background checks will be required for the purchase of projectiles, if Jerry Brown signs the bill sitting on his desk.

It almost makes me want to take up the bow and arrow. . . almost.

There is no enumeration in the Constitution that grants to the federal government the authority to regulate firearms.  In the first seven articles the authority to regulate firearms at the federal level is not granted.  In the 2nd Amendment, the federal government is told it "shall" not infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms.  But that was only added to the Constitution because the Anti-federalists feared that if it was not in writing, the federal government would ultimately infringe on our God-given gun rights.

The Second Amendment begins with a call for "A well regulated militia."  A well regulated militia is not one regulated by the government, as assumed by many folks because of their flawed notion regarding the definition of the word "regulated." The part of the amendment that calls for a well-regulated militia is stating that the militia must be a fighting force that is in good order.

We must remember that the word “regulated” in 1791 did not necessarily mean “to control and restrict,” as the statists claim in today's political atmosphere.  The word “regulated,” according to the 1828 version of Webster’s Dictionary, was defined as meaning: “to put in good order.” The need to have a militia in good order makes sense when one considers that during the Revolutionary War the militia was not in good order. The muskets were all different sizes, often the clothing of some members of the militia was tattered, and many didn’t even have shoes. So, a well regulated militia, from the point of the view of the founders, was a militia that was in good order.

The need for the citizens to be armed was made evident during the Revolutionary War, and the importance of gun ownership by the people of that generation was clearly portrayed by the context of the Battle of Lexington Green, where the first shot of The Revolution was fired.

The British Troops were marching toward Concord, Massachusetts, and a rag tag company of the Massachusetts Militia met the Redcoats at Lexington, to confront them, and stop them.  A shot rang out, which triggered a gun battle, and the War for Independence was in full gear.

But why was stopping the British at Lexington so imperative?  What made the revolutionaries so intent on doing whatever it took to prevent the King's Army from gaining access to Concord?

In Concord was our largest munitions depot.  Guns and ammunition were stored in Concord.  So, it can be said that the final straw - what made us fighting mad enough that we began a bloody revolution against England - was when they came for our guns.

The current push for gun control is not the first effort by the federal government to go after our ability to defend ourselves.  The federal gun-running operation called Fast and Furious placed guns in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels so that, if the democrats played their cards right, the guns would be used to kill many Mexicans, and then the party of the jackass could scream, "See what American guns have done?" hoping that American voters would demand a stop be put to the manufacturing of such dangerous weapons.

The operation backfired, two border patrol agents were killed, and the scandal grew to reveal what the Obama administration was trying to do.  The administration, with no surprise to anyone, has been lying about the operation from day one.  The media hopped aboard those lies, and have protected the president as best they could.  The democrats have circled the wagons regarding the Fast and Furious scandal, and the scandal that would have brought down any GOP President, thanks to quick damage control by Obama's minions, remained harmless, and has been all but forgotten.

Prior to the Fast and Furious operation being exposed, the federal government, through the courts, attempted to gain the power of dictating to the States what they can, and cannot, do, regarding firearms by ruling against State Sovereignty in the McDonald v. City of Chicago case.

Before the ruling regarding Chicago's handgun ban, in the Washington DC v. Heller case in 2008 the Supreme Court of the United States determined that the right to bear arms is an individual right, as opposed to a collective right which would only allow the bearing of arms for the purpose of participating in government approved groups, such as law enforcement agencies.

Anti-Federalists feared the creation of a central government because they feared the federal government would become tyrannical, and take away people’s rights. Therefore, even though the Constitution in the first seven articles did not grant to the federal government any authority over gun rights, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights, those skeptical over the creation of a central government wanted an amendment that clarified clearly that the federal government had no authority to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.  The Second Amendment is the article that spells out the terms regarding gun rights in America, as the Anti-federalists desired.

We have to remember that State Sovereignty is an important factor, here.  All powers belonged to the States prior to the writing of the Constitution. The first seven articles did not give to the federal government the authority to regulate firearms, therefore, any legislative power over gun rights is a State power. The 10th Amendment supports the States' rights regarding this issue, and the 2nd Amendment confirms the limits placed on the federal government regarding guns.

This does not mean the States have the right to infringe on your gun rights, however.  Remember, your right to keep and bear arms is a personal, fundamental, natural right given to you by God. The founders did not worry about the States infringing on gun rights, because the local governments were closer to the people.  They expected you to protect your right to keep and bear arms, and to not let your State become tyrannical regarding that issue.  But in today's political environment, the argument has become all about the tyranny of the States. If the 2nd Amendment does not apply to the States, what keeps the States from infringing on gun rights?  They seem to be stomping on our right to our guns quite readily.

My response to that query is always the same: "So don't let them."  Gun rights, be they protected in the Second Amendment, or listed in your State Constitution, is nothing more than ink on paper if you are not willing to defend those gun rights.

The only thing that can put our rights in jeopardy concerning State governments would be if we became so complacent that we stopped taking action to protect our rights.  With freedom comes the responsibility to fight for your freedoms.

Noah Webster in his “An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution,” in 1787 said it clearly: “Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States."

The federal government knows this, which is why they are trying to use the courts to overrule your sovereignty, and to limit the kinds of firearms, and ammunition, you can own.

In the 2010 case of McDonald v. City of Chicago, which challenged the City of Chicago’s ban on hand guns, the debate over whether or not the 2nd Amendment only applies to the Federal Government was brought to the surface.

The 5-4 Decision of the McDonald v. City of Chicago case by the U.S. Supreme Court holds that the 2nd Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms in all cities and States. The U.S. Supreme Court concluded that originally the 2nd Amendment applied only to the Federal Government, but it is in the opinion of the court that the 14th Amendment incorporates the Bill of Rights, therefore applying those amendments, and more specifically the 2nd Amendment, to the States.

The decision by the Supreme Court, in this case, makes all State laws on fire arms null and void (if one believes that the courts have that kind of overpowering rule over the legislative power in the States, and can dictate to the States what they can and can't do).  The courts applying the 2nd Amendment to the States would mean the Second Amendment is supreme over any and all State laws on firearms. However, studying the language of the Second Amendment carefully, it says that all persons are allowed to possess a firearm.  The final words, “shall not be infringed” carries no exceptions.  If that is the case, and if the 2nd Amendment also applies to the States, then technically it would also make all State gun laws unconstitutional.

The reason that the Second Amendment is absolute in its language is because it was intended to only apply to the federal government. The federal government shall not infringe on the right to keep and bear arms in any way, but the States retain the authority to regulate guns as necessary based on the needs and allowances of the local electorate.

The U.S. Constitution applies only to the federal government, except where specifically noted otherwise.  Besides, even if on the surface it seems to be for a good cause, do you really want the federal government forcing the States to do something?  Do we really want the federal government controlling the States in such a manner?  When it comes to the McDonald v. Chicago case, I am uneasy anytime the federal government tells a city or State what they have to do.

If we give the federal government the right to tell cities they have to allow gun ownership, what stops them from doing the opposite later? The case regarding Chicago's handgun ban created a precedent of allowing the federal government to dictate to the States and cities what they have to do, and in that I recognize a great danger to state sovereignty, and ultimately, to our Gun Rights.

The final argument against gun control is a need for an armed militia.  Leftists do not accept the need of an unorganized civilian militia.  In fact, the most common argument I hear regarding gun rights is that the 2nd Amendment does not apply to our current society because the militia is a thing of the past.  According to these people, the citizen militia is no longer necessary, and all functions a militia would facilitate are now covered by the military, and more specifically, when it comes to local protection, the National Guard.

The National Guard is indeed much like the organized militia envisioned by the Founding Fathers, but that does not mean an unorganized militia does not exist, nor is necessary.

Title 10 of the United States Code provides for both "organized" and "unorganized" civilian militias. While the organized militia is made up of members of the National Guard and Naval Militia, the unorganized militia is composed entirely of private individuals.

United States Code: Title 10 – Armed Forces, Subtitle A – General Military Law

Chapter 13 – The Militia:

Sec. 311. Militia: composition and classes

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b) The classes of the militia are -

(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

Other than age, health, gender, or citizenship, there are no additional provisions for exemption from membership in the unorganized militia. While it is doubtful that it will ever be called to duty, the United States civilian militia does legally exist.  I also think the requirements will go out the window if the unorganized militia ever needs to be called into action.  The requirement at that time will be, "If you can aim and fire, you are a part of our militia."

So, according to the U.S. Code, the unorganized militia exists.

But why, I am often asked, is it so important to have a right to keep and bear arms in this civilized society?

You have a right to keep and bear arms, as the 2nd Amendment says, because it is "necessary to the security of a free State."  Here, the word "State" does not mean "civil government" as assumed, but instead refers to the individual States.  So, the right to keep and bear arms is necessary to the security of your State, be it Virginia, Maryland, New York, California, or wherever.  And the word "necessary" is a pretty definitive term.  So our gun rights are "necessary" to the security of a free State.  From whom?  Invaders?  Don't we have the organized military forces for protecting our States from foreign invaders?

If we don't need to be armed to protect our states from foreign invasion, then why was it so important to the Founding Fathers to ensure that Americans remained armed?

Who does that leave as a potential enemy that the founders felt it "necessary" to arm the citizens to protect their States?

I believe the language is as such to remind us that the right to keep and bear arms is necessary to protect the States against a tyrannical central government, should one rise at the federal level.

I was once asked, "Does that mean you would fire upon government employees?"

I replied, "If necessary."

Religious Cleansing in the Violence in Egypt

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Escalating violence has led Egypt to declaring a month long state of emergency. We are being told that in Egypt the death toll is rising, which it is rapidly, and it is a clash between the Muslim Brotherhood and those who oppose Morsi, and his Muslim Brotherhood allies.

In reality, it is the military against a Muslim Brotherhood that is seeking a national cleansing.

The Muslim Brotherhood has launched a reign of terror designed to put those that are bucking their rule back in their place as the military works to diffuse the Islamic threat.  Fear is being used by the Muslim Brotherhood to try and silence their opposition.  A part of the opposition are Christians, and a part of it are secularists.  The Muslim Brotherhood is working to silence both groups, and kill them all if they have to, as those groups, and the military, fights back.

Islam does not allow opposition. Refusal to fully immerse yourself in Islam is intolerable. The followers of Muhammad are taught that they are superior, and all infidels are inferior.  Non-Muslims must submit to the authority of Islam, or become slaves, or be killed.  That is the way of the Koran.

Prior to the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, The Muslim Brotherhood was banned from holding any position in Egypt's government, and in fact was outlawed as an organization in the country.  Mubarak knew that his rule, and the peace of Egypt, depended on the quelling of Islamic groups and their cry for jihad.  Hosni Mubarak may have been a dictator, but he kept the peace in Egypt, and in the region.  The current Egyptian military seems to understand that formula.

The Muslim Brotherhood desires chaos in the region, for it is only through crisis that they can rise to power.  They wanted the Arab Spring because they wanted the chaos. . . and so did the Obama administration.

Unrest and chaos is how the Obama administration puts into place their own agenda.  They, too, believe that a good crisis cannot be left to go to waste.

Now, we are seeing a clash between a military that opposes the Muslim Brotherhood, and a Muslim Brotherhood bent on the cleansing of all opposition in Egypt.  The murder of Christians, and a battle for control of the strategic region Egypt inhabits, is in full swing.  Israel's existence is at risk with her southern neighbor suffering from a war within, but the jihadists have wasted no time, already launching missiles from the Sinai. Christians are being murdered regularly, and nation after nation in the Middle East is falling into the hands of the Islamic Jihad.  A war in the Muslim World designed to eventually bring about a massive caliphate has begun, and the violence will only get worse.

Change, for the Muslim World, can be devastating in the eyes of civilized peoples.  However, change that ignites the fires of Islamic Jihad is exactly what Islam desires, for their "end times", as prophesied by Muhammad, where Islam ultimately dominates the world, cannot happen until the world descends into chaos and each of the infidel nations die by the Islamic sword.

Chaos is exactly what they want.  Worldwide domination is the aim.  Egypt is but a small piece of a much larger puzzle.
