Obama vs. The Founders

by JASmius

When the Founders signed the Declaration of Independence to separate from the British empire, things were bad for liberty. Real bad. But how would it compare today? Are we better off due to technology and prosperity, or have things gotten worse? We’re discussing that today, here...at the Tenth Amendment Center.

Blowing Up Dirt

by JASmius

Bill exposes Obama's sure to fail tactics against ISIS.

Well, Bill, it's not as if we can stop the Left from "manufacturing another Vietnam".  And how many Vietnams would that make by this time?  I think it would be four, by my count.

Then again, the VC and NVA didn't follow us home, either.  And ISIS is already here.

Muslim Beheads Woman in Oklahoma After Obama's Tantrum

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The beheading at a manufacturing plant in Oklahoma is being reported as an act of workplace violence, and the action of a disgruntled worker.  The attacker, prior to the attack, was known for trying to convert other employees to Islam.  When the Muslim convert reached his bloodlust moment, he went into the office at the plant, beheaded one fellow worker, and then was working on another when caught.

President Obama and the Democrats have been echoing the taqiyya claim that Islam and the disgusting and barbaric actions of terrorists are somehow not connected.  Members of the Muslim Brotherhood in the FBI, and throughout the executive branch, work to carefully craft the message, and when in one meeting Islam and terrorism was being connected in a general manner, Obama stormed out, saying it was inappropriate to “try and paint all of Islam with the same brush.”

As the madness of the Islamic jihad works through America, and begins appearing clearly before our eyes as acts promoted by the Koran and the teachings of the false prophet Muhammad, we are told Islam is a religion of peace, and that all Muslims cannot be placed into the same conversation regarding terrorism.  Former Muslims say that all Muslims are potential terrorists, and the Muslim who performed the beheading in Oklahoma, it turns out, has connections to al Qaeda.

President Barack Obama does not see Islam as an enemy, and refuses to admit the connection between Islam and groups like ISIS.  Our President, whose father was Muslim, and stepfather was Muslim,  while he was recently speaking at the United Nations, favorably quoted and praised a controversial Muslim cleric whose organization has reportedly endorsed the terror group Hamas and supported a fatwa condoning the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

Obama's remarks offered praise to Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, and referred to him as a moderate Muslim leader.  Bin Bayyah himself has long been engulfed in controversy for many of his views, including the reported backing of a 2004 fatwa that advocated violent resistance against Americans fighting in Iraq.

Brigitte Gabriel says that so-called moderate Muslims are irrelevant, like the peaceful Germans that did nothing but obey were during the Nazi Regime approaching and during World War II.  Even if the majority of Islam is peaceful, the number of radical Muslims number over three hundred million.  Most Muslims may claim to be peaceful, but through Islam the radicals are still butchering innocent people, and the so-called peaceful Muslims are irrelevant, and refusing to stand up and defend those being killed by the jihadists.

CDC: "Strange" Virus Spreading, Causes Polio-Like Paralysis

by JASmius

Remember that "bizarre" respiratory virus that had spread through over a thousand school children in five Midwestern states as of two weeks and change ago, and just purely coincidentally first arose in Ohio precisely as the current school year began just under two purely coincidental months after hundreds of thousands of diseased "unaccompanied minors" from Central America poured across the former southern border at Barack Obama's instigated invitation and were purely coincidentally distributed around the country to "red" states and enclaves?  It's still spreading, and it's evidently already mutating to produce symptoms eerily similar to another disease that had heretofore been eradicated in this country: polio:

Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado children and whether the culprit might be a virus causing severe respiratory illness across the country.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday sent doctors an alert about the polio-like cases and said the germ - enterovirus 68 - was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who had a certain medical test. The status of the ninth case is unclear.

The virus can cause paralysis but other germs can, too. Health officials don't know whether the virus caused any of the children's arm and leg weaknesses or whether it's just a germ they coincidentally picked up.

"That's why we want more information," and for doctors to report similar cases, said the CDC's Dr. Jane Seward.

The cases occurred within the last two months. All nine children are being treated at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, and most are from the Denver area. A hospital spokeswoman said the patients' families didn't want to talk to the media.

This quote is from an Associated Press news report.  You know how you can tell it's from an Associated Press news report?  Because they persist in referring to this viral epidemic using adjectives like "mystery" and "bizarre" and "strange" in lieu of any "speculative" dot-connecting with the Border Crisis influx that, though it's slowed down of late, is still ongoing.  The only implicit dent in the embargo of the obvious proximate cause is deep in the article where it makes passing, almost casual, reference to "an unusual wave of severe respiratory illness," as though it was due to some "panspermia" money shot from a passing comet rather than a highly likely, and inevitable, consequence of The One's amnesty fait accompli.

To reiterate: There is a reason why the wave of (legal) immigration from southern and eastern Europe in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was filtered through Ellis Island in New York harbor, and my use of the term "filter" is no accident.  Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution states, in relevant part, "The United States [i.e. the then-newly created federal government]...shall protect each of them [i.e. the States] against Invasion..."  This meant defending the country against armed attack as well as prohibiting ingress to émigrés with criminal records and/or infectious diseases.  The immigration laws were established specifically to protect the receiving population from the potential dangers of disease and criminality that could be brought into the country.

But by definition, if the federal government abrogates its Article IV, Section 4 responsibility by not just indifferently tolerating, but actively encouraging uncontrolled, unfiltered illegal immigration, it is forfeiting control over any and all harmful factors that can and will deleteriously impact the American citizenry.  And in the case of Barack Obama's deliberately contrived "Border Crisis," deliberately inflicting it across the country.

My guess is it wasn't that patients' families didn't want to talk to the Associated Press; it was that the Associated Press didn't want to report what some of those patients' families had to say about what the proximate cause of this "unusual wave of severe respiratory illness" really is.  Because if it had been my grandkid lying in a hospital bed paralyzed and hooked to a ventilator, and I found out that his or her school had absorbed an influx of untreated, "undocumented" classmates mere weeks before, you can sure as shinola bet I'd have had some pointed things to say about it.

Hard Starboard Radio: Napoleon Obama

An impromptu hour with constitutional lecturer, author, radio host, and all around gentleman and scholar Doug Gibbs, followed by a taste of the legacy of Eric "The Red" Holder, and where he's likely headed next, and a fatalistic contemplation of a president who began as a champion of the legislature’s prerogative to declare war, has now morphed into Napoleon - and (gulp) might now be correct.

Get ready for Chief Justice Holder on Open Thighs Friday at 6PM Eastern/3PM Pacific.

DHS: Most Illegals In Recent Surge Have Vanished

by JASmius

Shocking.

I mean that the Regime publicly admitted it so soon:

For nearly three months this summer, the Obama administration carefully avoided answering questions about what happened to tens of thousands of immigrant families caught illegally crossing the Mexican border and released into the United States with instructions to report back to immigration authorities.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and others said they faced deportation. But it turns out that tens of thousands of those immigrants did not follow the government's instructions to meet with federal immigration agents within 15 days. Instead, they have vanished into the interior of the U.S.

The Homeland Security Department privately acknowledged that about 70% of immigrant families failed to report as ordered. The disclosure came during a confidential meeting at its Washington headquarters with immigration advocates participating in a federal working group on detention and enforcement policies.

70%; that's actually a lower percentage than I would have expected.  Which means that even this undenied private disclosure is likely still another tiresome mendacity.

<sigh>

Credit where credit is due: Republicans fulfilled their duty to protest impotently:

Republican lawmakers have been critical of the administration's decision to release any immigrants caught crossing the border illegally.

"With this administration's failure to enforce our immigration laws, it is no surprise that 70% of the families released take their chances to stay here and don't show up for their follow-up appointments or court dates," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-VA6, said.

No, it isn't a surprise.  It is, in fact, entirely, and tiresomely, predictable.  As is the fact that there's not a damned thing we can do about it.  And both we and Barack Obama damned well know it.

What's that expression?  "La unión hace la fuerza, combinado pateamos el trasero". Either something gets lost in the translation, or I don't think it applies to American citizens anymore.

Homegrown Jihad

by JASmius

I don't call this country "Obamerikastan" for nothing:

Officials with the Moore Police Department say the FBI is now involved in the investigation related to a brutal attack of workers at a food distribution plant.

Sergeant Jeremy Lewis says the alleged suspect, 30-year-old Alton Nolen had just been fired when he drove to the front of the business, hit a vehicle and walked inside.

He walked into the front office area where he met 54-year-old Colleen Hufford and began attacking her with a knife.

Sergeant Lewis confirms the type of knife used in the attack is the same kind used at the plant.

Lewis confirms that Hufford was stabbed several times and that Nolen “severed her head.”

At that point, Lewis claims Nolen met 43-year-old Traci Johnson and began attacking her with the same knife.

Officials say at that point, Mark Vaughan, an Oklahoma County reserve deputy and a former CEO of the business, shot him as he was actively stabbing Johnson.

“He’s, obviously, a hero in this situation,” Sergeant Lewis said, referring to Vaughan. “It could have gotten a lot worse.”

....wait for it...wait for it....

Police spokesman Jeremy Lewis told a press conference that Nolen's colleagues had said "he recently started trying to convert several employees to the Muslim religion".

Well, of course he did.  If he'd been engaged in Christian proselytizing, that'd be the reason he got pink-slipped.  But, by the same token, neither would he have gone on his decapitation rampage.  I mean, after all, I didn't do that, and my provocation was a lot greater than Nolen's was.

Exit question: How long until Mr. Vaughan is the target of a DOJ civil rights prosecution?  Eric "The Red" still has some time before he moves onto to Olympus, after all.  Why should Kamala Harris inherit such delectable low-hanging fruit?

Eric Holder to Step Down

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Like President Barack Obama, Eric Holder has shown us that he believes he is above the law, above the people, and that everyone should cower beneath his might.  But, after a long reign as United States Attorney General, Black Nationalist Eric Holder has decided he will step down.  After five and a half years of unconstitutionally seizing power for the executive branch, using his position to pursue Obama's political enemies, using civilian courts to try foreign enemies of the United States that plotted the September 11, 2001 attacks (later sending those cases to military court as a result of public outcry and pressure), and refusal to go after legally those he should have such as the New Black Panthers for their voter suppression tactics during presidential elections, Holder will hand the reins off to the next Marxist in line.  Holder is the fourth-longest tenured Attorney General in history, but was no stranger to the Justice Department, where he previously worked as a young corruption prosecutor (ironic, isn't it?) and as deputy attorney general during the Clinton administration.

The tenure of Eric Holder has been marked by his leftist rhetoric, partisan actions, and racist comments such as in his 2009 Black History Month speech where he said the country was "a nation of cowards" when it comes to discussions about racial tension.

Holder will be remembered as being the one that picked which laws to defend, and which ones not to, based on his political bias, as well as his difficult relationship with Congress from the nomination process, to shrugging off his moments in front of Congress, speaking off the cuff, and refusing to hand over documents about the various Obama scandals - which, in the case of Fast and Furious, led to a charge of contempt by Congress.

Holder has not revealed what is next for him.  Mayor of Chicago has already been taken by Rahm Emanuel.

Obama's Threats On Tax Inversions Could Trigger Bear Market

by JASmius

That couldn't possibly be anything but a coincidence - could it?:

Bear markets usually develop because of a fundamental change in the economy, but sometimes the carless remarks of a president or other government action can provide the spark for a deep selloff.

In 1962, President Kennedy was angered by a 3.5% increase in steel prices. In a speech he noted the increase showed "utter contempt for the interests of 185 million Americans." Government contracts were awarded only to steel companies that didn't raise prices and the attorney general, the president's brother, launched an investigation into the industry. The price hikes were quickly rolled back.

But the president's "victory" over big steel led to a 24.5% sell off in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Dow had been in a broad trading range near all-time highs for about a year prior to the president's speech and Kennedy provided the spark for a downside breakout.

Kennedy's comments are just one example of how political actions affect the stock market. Changes in tariffs contributed to the 1929 crash and Secretary of the Treasury James Baker's comments about a weak dollar came just one day before the October 1987 crash.

If the mere words of a POTUS can panic the markets, that alone is prima facie evidence that the federal government is too big, wields too much power, and has vastly exceeded its constitutionally-imposed limitations.

The pertinent question in the current context is why Barack Obama would want to spark a stock market selloff (at best) or collapse (at worst).  Stock valuations have been inflated by the Fed's printing binge and the illusion it has created of an "economic recovery".  That illusion, in turn, combined with the reality of the ongoing, inescapable economic depression that afflicts "main street", fuels the classist economic resentments that Leftists always seek to encourage when a society is in its "democratic" transition to permanent socialist oligarchy.  The process seems to be all in place and functioning quite effectively.  So why would O overturn the proverbial applecart now?

Answer: a perception, or insecurity, that his window of opportunity for "fundamental transformation" is limited, and that he'd be better off "sealing the deal" in the next two years, by any means necessary.  Next, recall what put him in power in the first place: the biggest financial panic in eighty years, which made possible "things you can't otherwise do".  And lastly, consider how the media would spin another financial collapse ("FDR-izing" The One) versus how they vilified President Bush ("the 21st century Herbert Hoover") six years ago.

There are many paths by which his presidency-for-life can be clinched, law and Constitution be damned, but they're all pretty much mutually-reinforcing.  So why not dance once more with "the one that brung ya"?  It's not like he has to worry about it not working on the LIVs and NIVs.  And if the Right rises up in insurrectionary rebellion, Gadsden flags flying, in a Second American Revolution, well, that would be an "opportunity," too.

Military To Allow Illegal Aliens To Serve

by JASmius

Just because O is deferring his illegal, unconstitutional Executive amnesty decree until after the midterm election doesn't mean his immigration tyranny is on vacation altogether:

A small number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. will have an opportunity to join the military for the first time in decades under a new [Commissariat] of Defense policy unveiled Thursday.

The new rules will expand an existing program allowing recruiters to target foreign nationals with high-demand skills, mostly rare foreign language expertise or specialized health care training.

For the first time, the program — known as Military Accessions in the National Interest, or MAVNI — will be open to immigrants without a proper visa if they came to the U.S. with their parents before age 16. More specifically, they must be approved under a 2012 Obama administration policy known as Deferred Action for Child Arrivals, or DACA.

Which is, of course, flagrantly unconstitutional because it was usurpedly promulgated with Congress's Article I, Section 1 legislative authority.

By the way, I bet you'll never guess what language skills the Obamagon is specifically looking for:

Estimates suggest between 1.2 million and 2.1 million children, teenagers and young adults in the U.S. have no legal immigration status but meet the criteria for the DACA program. Those targeted by recruiters under the MAVNI program likely will be immigrants with language skills critical to national security, such as Arabic, Chinese, Pashto or Persian. [emphasis added]

Perfect.  That means the only enemies who will not be given an open invitation to infiltrate the ranks of the U.S. armed forces will be the Russians and the North Koreans.  What could possibly go wrong?  Besides serial Fort Hoods and inside cyber espionage and sabotage and God knows what else, I mean.

[h/t: Tony Salazar]

UPDATE: While illegals are streaming into the Obamilitary, top, experienced commanders and combat officers are being forced out:

Soldiers survive combat, then lose their jobs;

Army officers face early retirement board; and

as Pentagon budget shrinks, military forcing officers out.

Larry Wallenmeyer calls it the "UN-izing" of the U.S. military.

I'd say he's excessively euphemizing the point.

But at least we'll know which ones are homosexual and which ones aren't.

Sharpton Wants Role In Picking Holder's Successor

by JASmius

Well, of course he does.  And he'll get it, too:

Sharpton said in a statement that his civil rights organization, the National Action Network, is "engaged in immediate conversations with the White House on their deliberations over a successor, whom we hope will continue in the general direction of Attorney General Holder."

Sharpton also praised Holder, who will step down once a replacement is found after a term that began in February 2009.

"The resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder is met with both pride and disappointment by the civil rights community," Sharpton said. "We are proud that he has been the best attorney general on civil rights in U.S. history and disappointed because he leaves at a critical time when we need his continued diligence most.

"His accomplishments in working to protect American’s from terrorism, fighting to protect voter rights, challenging unfair sentencing, directing U.S. attorneys on fair prosecution, and being the only attorney general to visit the site of a civil rights complaint in Ferguson must be noted in American history."

So much for the bootlicking fecality phase of the recounting of the Holder "legacy".  Want a brief summary of the rest of it?

1) Partisan, ideologically discriminatory hiring practices, which defeats the core purpose of the civil service system stretching back some 130 years to its creation.

2) The Fort Hood scandal;

3) The Associated Press spying scandal;

4) The James Rosen spying scandal;

5) The Mark Rich pardon scandal under Bill Clinton;

6) The Weather Underground pardon scandal, also under Sick Willie;

7) Holder's partisan, ideological war against the First Amendment, particularly as it pertains to the slightest criticism of Islam or Muslims;

8) Holder's open hostility, bigotry, and hatemongering against conservatives; here as some direct quotes:

  • “Conservatives have been defenders of the status quo, afraid of the future, and content to allow to continue to exist all but the most blatant inequalities.”
  • Conservatives have “made a mockery of the rule of law.”
  • Conservatives try to “put the environment at risk for the sake of unproven economic theories, to play to the fears of our citizens, and not to their hopes, and to return the nation to a time that in fact never existed.”
  • Conservatives are “breathtaking” in their “arrogance,” which manifests itself in such things as “attacks on abortion rights,” “energy policies that are as shortsighted as they are ineffective,” and “tax cuts that disproportionately favor those who are well off and perpetuate many of the inequities in our nation.”
  • The hallmarks of the “conservative agenda” include “social division, mindless tax cutting, and a defense posture that does not really make us safer.”
  • “The nation must be convinced that it is a progressive future that holds the greatest promise for equality and the continuation of those policies that serve to support the greatest number of our people. In the short term this will not be an easy task. With the mainstream media somewhat cowered by conservative critics, and the conservative media disseminating the news in anything but a fair and balanced manner, and you know what I mean there, the means to reach the greatest number of people is not easily accessible.”
9) Holder's partisan, ideological war against the Second Amendment;

10) Holder's coddling of jihadists as criminal defendants instead of illegal enemy combatants not entitled to any domestic or international legal protections;

11) Holder's abuse of the Constitution's Supremacy Clause to illegally quash Arizona's assertion of concurrent immigration jurisdiction to enforce its portion of the U.S. southern border, as well as not filing its unconstitutional challenge at the U.S. Supreme Court as constitutionally required (i.e. illegal "judge-shopping");

12) Holder's enthusiastic racist backing and endorsement of voter suppression and intimidation in blatant violation of civil rights laws when the perpetrators are the Black Panthers and the victims are white;

13) Holder's enthusiastic backing, endorsement, and facilitation of nationwide pro-Democrat voter fraud;

14) The Fast & Furious scandal;

15) Holder's Islamophilic/dhimmi-ist expunging of any and all jihadist references and nomenclature from FBI training course, materials, and texts;

16) Holder's pro-jihadist proselytizing.

That's the merest taste of the Obamunist filthmonger's reign of terror.  No wonder Rev'rund Al likes him so much.

Which, in turn, practically telegraphs his next career step:

Attorney General Eric Holder's resignation could be a move to make him eligible for a higher office – Supreme Court justice, says talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.

"It would be much easier for Eric Holder to make the jump from private sector law firm rainmaker after six years at DOJ to the Supreme Court, than from DOJ straight to the Supreme Court," Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday.

Ostensibly The One wants Holder to replace Ruth Buzzy Ginsburg on Olympus, but you know whose place he really wants Eric "The Red" to take: Chief Justice John Roberts, that's who.  Think of it: Barack Obama as president-for-life, Nancy Pelosi and Harry (G)Reid ruling Congress, and Eric Holder ruling the Judicial Branch.  It'd be like a real-life Legion of Doom.

If I were Chief Justice Roberts, I'd hire extra security, and be alert to my meals "tasting funny" from now on.

And John Boehner, too.

Enemy's Nuclear EMP Attack

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The apocalyptic vision of a world without electricity is nothing new.  The idea that an enemy could detonate a nuclear blast in the air to create an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is a concept that has brushed by our ears before.  The potential destruction of the United States by an EMP attack is not something that only exists in the realm of science fiction, but with the players in the world that have been gaining nuclear technology, the possibility of an EMP being launched against the United States is a very feasible reality.  Enemies like Iran, North Korea, China, Russia and any of a number of Islamic terrorist organizations with connections to any of those aforementioned players, have the means to knock out our entire power grid.  These enemies have tested the possibilities, and have conducted practice runs regarding their capabilities.

A high-altitude burst EMP could damage electronic equipment, such as computers and communication equipment, in the area within line of sight of the blast. Equipment beyond the horizon would be largely unaffected.  The ring of damage would be most damaging traveling in a U-shape toward the equatorial side of the nuclear detonation.

According to The Blaze Magazine, the threat of an EMP is very real, and there is a way for the United States to protect itself from such a horrific event.  Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, a member of the Congressional EMP Commission and the executive director of the Task Force on National Homeland Security, issued some dire warnings in his testimony before Congress, warning about the dangers of an EMP from a single nuclear weapon detonated between 25 and 300 miles over the lower 48 states. He said that it would act like ten thousand lightning bolts and permanently knock out the nation’s entire electrical grid. Airplanes would fall from the sky; many cars would be inoperable. Water, sewer and electrical devices would fail simultaneously. Systems of banking, energy, transportation, food production, water, emergency services and even cyberspace would collapse. Nine out of 10 Americans would die due to starvation, disease and societal collapse.

An EMP would be an efficient weapon, rendering the population defenseless, while keeping the land habitable for an invading force.  A simultaneous attack against Europe would ensure no aid would come into the United States, and the enemy would only need to wait patiently for most of the native population to die during the aftermath of the EMP.

Dr. Pry has testified that attempts to bring launchers and devices into the region has been attempted a number of times, and in one such instance, they caught the shipment at the Panama Canal, buried under a shipment of sugar.

With the Middle East and North Africa swarming with terrorist groups vying for control of a number of countries, and the support these organizations have been receiving from Russia, China, Pakistan, North Korea, and even the United States in some instances, these freely operating terrorists are coming together, from Iraq and Syria, to Yemen and Libya.  They all have a common goal regarding the destruction of non-Muslim states (especially in The West), and if any of these groups were to get their hands on the weapons needed to launch an attack against Europe and the United States, they would not hesitate to use those capabilities.

The EMP Commission that Dr. Pry is a part of has come up with a plan to protect the United States against such an attack, if the legislatures and President are willing to put such a plan into place.  Within a few years, says the commission, we could protect U.S. critical infrastructures from the worst effects of EMP.  Protecting 300 of the most important high-energy transformers that are indispensable to the national power grid is estimated to cost $100-200 million.  The plan would not protect our system completely, but the plan is estimated to be able to provide at least the absolute minimum necessary to create the possibility of saving millions of American lives in the event of an EMP.

The SHIELD Act, introduced by Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) and co-sponsored by Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY), would implement the most important recommendation of the EMP Commission. SHIELD would empower the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to require the electric power industry to protect the national grid from EMP.

SHIELD would also require the industry to protect the grid by selective "hardening" of vital components by using surge arrestors, blocking devices, faraday cages, and other proven technologies that the Department of Defense has known for fifty years can reliably protect military systems from EMP.

With the dependency we have as a society on electricity, and electronic components, in our daily lives, coupled with the very real threat of an EMP that could very well be launched by a nuclear device on board an aircraft or high altitude balloon, a need for some kind of protection against an EMP, for the sake of common defense, is a necessary step for our protection as a nation.  It is one of the constitutional tasks of the federal government to protect the States from invasion, provide for the common defense, and ensure that there is a sense of general welfare throughout the republic.  Legislation regarding protections against an EMP attack resolves each of those constitutional requirements.

Team Cheney: Obama Won't 'Accept Good Military Advice'

by JASmius

Dick and Liz Cheney were on “Hannity” [last ]night to weigh in on the latest in the fight against ISIS.

“Barack Obama has consistently demonstrated I think a refusal to accept good military advice in terms of how he actually uses the force,” the former vice president told Sean Hannity, saying that Obama lacks respect for senior commanders.

He also said Obama has a world view that is inconsistent with reality.

Cheney told Hannity that he has long been concerned about a linkage between terrorism and deadlier weapons.

You might even say that World War IV has already begun....

"Students" Protest Against Patriotism, Personal Responsibility & Free-Markets

by JASmius

The herculean task in front of us?  Or yet another sign that America is dead?:

The [Denver area] school board proposal that triggered the walkouts in Jefferson County calls for instructional materials that present positive aspects of the nation and its heritage. It would establish a committee to regularly review texts and course plans, starting with Advanced Placement history, to make sure materials "promote citizenship, patriotism, essentials and benefits of the free-market system, respect for authority and respect for individual rights" and don’t "encourage or condone civil disorder, social strife or disregard of the law." [emphasis added]

Sounds good, doesn't it?  "American," even.  Almost Norman Rockwell-esque.  Something our culture and educational system need even worse than the late Foster Brookes needed another drink.

Case in point:

Student participants said their demonstration was organized by word of mouth and social media. Many waved American flags and carried signs, including messages that read "There is nothing more patriotic than protest."

"I don’t think my education should be censored.  We should be able to know what happened in our past," said Tori Leu, a 17-year-old student who protested at Ralston Valley High School in Arvada.

I can't sum it up better than Mr. Wallenmeyer:

So, let me get this straight...what they've taught for [upwards of forty] years isn't censorship? It is censorship to learn about free-markets, liberty, patriotism, and being a responsible citizen?

Seems these students have already been brainwashed. Evil is good, good is evil. Yep, these kids are liberal Democrats.

Exit thought: Didn't this sort of thing used to be known as "truancy"?

The vast, unwashed Obamerikastani untermenschen may be as collectively dumb as a box of rocks and more ignorant than a random cubic mile of intergalactic space - witness the direction the midterm election campaign is going - but that stubbornly innate American instinct that knows when things aren't going well no matter how much smoke is blown up our asses has enough of a remaining pulse to ensure that that ignorance isn't completely blissful:

Americans have a bleak view of the economy and their own financial situations, according to a new study from the Public Religion Research Institute.

While the Great Recession "officially" ended in June 2009, only 21%  of Americans believe it's really over, while 72% believe it continues....

Just 30% believe the economy has improved during the past two years, while 35% say it has worsened, and 33% say it is about the same.

Meanwhile, 36% of Americans say that someone in their household had to cut back on food to save money during the last year.

In other words, while the "Great Recession" may have "officially" ended five and a quarter years ago, the Obama Depression roars on to the present day and into the future, with no end in bleak sight.

And even if the partisan tribal loyalties of most Obamerikastanis won't allow them to publicly admit or even understand it, their collective subconscious is acutely aware of it:

Life has been tough for many Americans for quite a while, says Wall Street Journal columnist William Galston....

 "A recovery that leaves them out is no recovery at all, and they know it. This simple fact goes a long way toward explaining the tone of our current politics and the temper of our society."

But not the way we continue to vote.

Exit quote: "Median household income totaled $51,939 in 2013, down 8% from 2007....But more than five years into the 'recovery,' there are fewer such workers than before the 'recession.'"

And I'm living proof, folks.

Celebrate America this weekend at the AgFest in San Jacinto

Douglas V. Gibbs

Riverside County does not have a county fair, so the San Jacinto Agriculture Festival has always filled in as the county's local fair.  Once a year, in late September, nearly 20,000 people make their way through the grounds at the Estudillo Mansion to ride a few rides, taste the local food being offered, and partake in the local fare being offered at the various booths and exhibits.  For the last three years at the Gazebo near the barn, behind the mansion, and across from the ride park portion of the event, I have worked with a wonderful group of organizers to present a Celebration of America.  This year's presentation is as exciting as ever, with music, speeches, exhibits, and yours truly broadcasting live from the event.  Join us on Saturday for this spectacular event. . .

BREAKING: Eric "The Red" Holder Resigns

by JASmius

Ding dong, the witch is dead:

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. will announce his resignation Thursday, multiple media outlets are reporting.

Sources familiar with the decision said Mr. Holder, 63, intends to leave the Department of Justice as soon as his successor is confirmed, a process that could last until next year, NPR first reported.

Mr. Holder has been discussing plans to step down with the president for several months, but finalized the plans earlier this month, a Justice Department source told ABC News.

“The attorney general plans to express his personal gratitude to the president for the opportunity to serve in his administration and to lead the Justice Department, which he will call the ‘greatest honor of my professional life,’” the source told ABC News.

That's the good news, folks.  The bad news is, Barack Obama isn't resigning with him.  Which means we can count on somebody even worse taking Holder's place:

Deputy Attorney General James Cole; Kathryn Ruemmler, the former White House counsel; Deval Patrick, the Democratic governor of Massachusetts; and at least three Democratic U.S. senators, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, have been mentioned by congressional and administration officials as qualified successors.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris has been a supporter and ally of Obama and is another potential candidate. Preet Bharara, the U.S. attorney in Manhattan also has been mentioned at a possible successor.

Cole is a white male, so forget him.  Ruemmler is female, but she's also white, so scratch her.  Ditto McCasKILL and Klobuchar, in addition to which is that the Dems are not about to put two more Senate seats not up in this cycle up for grabs - although both Missouri and Minnesota do have Donk governors, so they could be a last resort.  Since Pryor's seat is in mortal peril anyway, he might have been a candidate if he wasn't also a white male.  And Bharara isn't white, but subcontinent Asians aren't high in the Democrat identity politics pecking order, and besides that, he's got testicles, so he's out.

That leaves Governor Patrick and Ms. Harris as O's two A-G finalists.  And my money is on.....

.....Kamala Harris.  She's black and a woman.  She's Eric Holder in a skirt.  The worst of both worlds.

This choice won't take his infernal majesty long.

Birth Control is NOT a Right

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The Bill of Rights tells the federal government "hands off" the rights of the people.  Similar language is present in the text of the various State constitutions, as well.  Rights, in America, are a pretty big deal.  Natural Law proposes that our rights are God-given, and not government-given, therefore, government has no authority over individual rights.

Understanding that rights are a precious thing under the law, advocacy groups have learned that all they need to do is convince everyone that their pet project is regarding a right that belongs to a particular group, and the nation will stand up and listen.  In the case of Hobby Lobby, we have been told that this is a case of whether Hobby Lobby's corporate rights trump the rights of individuals.

If the premise presented is corporate rights versus individual rights, the voting public will declare individual rights the winner, every time.  There is no doubt that the rights of the individual should always be supreme over a collective right, or corporate right.

Except, that is not what is really happening.

The goal of the liberal left is establishing the government as the supreme provider in the life of an individual.  The argument is framed to alert your sensibilities, to rally Americans around causes that have been framed as necessary for the public welfare of the republic.  Every pet issue has become a civil right, and special interests are slapping "individual rights" on everything they can.  Selfish wants, promiscuous behavior, and personal responsibilities should not be considered a right, and if those behaviors and wants are a personal, individual, right, we are told that government, using taxpayer dollars, should have to pay for it.

Health Care has always been the responsibility of the individual.  Families used to put money in a jar for a rainy day, just in case somebody got sick, and they needed the money to pay for the local doctor's house call.  Then the concept of health insurance escaped the realm of the rich, and the concept of a third party that pools everyone's money together to help in paying for catastrophic care emerged.  The idea grew slowly, until under a wage freeze imposed by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, employers began to offer benefits packages in the hopes of enticing quality employees to their company.  Eventually, benefits packages became the norm, and no decent employee could be had without a good benefits offering.  The government, as it always does, followed up by making the offer of a benefits package the law, and before we knew it, with all of the hands in the cookie jar, third party payment for health care destroyed the industry, drove up costs, and began to limit innovation and the patient's ability to afford the various insurance programs being offered.  A mere doctor's visit now costs a mint.

The Affordable Care Act is supposed to be the solution, transferring the third party payment responsibility from private insurance to the federal government.

Meanwhile, since government will be paying for it, that means the face of healthcare will change dramatically, fashioned to buy votes, and enable federal control over lives, and personal data.

One of the provisions is "Reproductive Rights."  According to the leftists, if a woman decides to exhibit promiscuous behavior, everyone else must pay for her birth control, including an abortion pill, if she feels it is necessary to keep from carrying "a mistake" in her belly.

Birth Control is not a right.  Women, and men, have a choice regarding sex, and they have the responsibility to ensure protection against any consequence of their actions, if they so desire that protection.  It is not the taxpayer's responsibility to pay for her birth control no more than it is the taxpayer's responsibility to pay for the wardrobe that makes her look like a skank in order to get that one night stand she is looking for.

A right is not a responsibility, and a right is not the same as a privilege.  And from the point of view of the Constitution, which grants no authority to the federal government regarding any of these policies, it is none of the federal government's business getting involved in trying to force a privately owned business to go against their religious convictions and be involved in their medical plan paying for birth control, and abortion pill, or anything else that has to do with the responsibility of keeping from getting pregnant.

In the end, the Hobby Lobby case had nothing to do with the rights of women.  The ultimate agenda here is simply should the federal government be able to force a business to comply with a centralized mandate, even if it compromises the religious rights of the owners of the business?  Should the federal government be able to force its agenda upon business in the name of the rights of a group they use as a base for their political power while compromising the very real religious rights of people who stand opposed to the political agenda of those in power?  Should tyranny be able to force itself upon the public, especially against those that dare to oppose it?

The answers are obvious.

U.S. Attacks ‘Not Sufficient,’ Obama’s Restrictions Hurting Strikes

by JASmius

Perhaps; but they're more than sufficient to resurrect his poll numbers and keep the U.S. Senate in Democrat hands, and that's all Barack Obama cares about:

The U.S.-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) shot "easier" targets during Monday evening's air campaign, but intelligence will be the challenge as the terrorists become harder to find, General Michael Hayden told NewsmaxTV's "America's Forum."

"These are probably the easier targets to identify. These are the ones that you had good intelligence on," the retired Air Force general said Wednesday.

"You're going to run out of those, and the enemy is going to get smarter, and they're going to go underground and blend in with the civilian population. So, to keep this up, and we have to keep it up, we're going to need a lot more very exquisite intelligence, and it's going to be hard to come by. So, we've got a challenge here," he added.

In other words, we need "boots on the ground" .  Lots of them.  Like, yesterday.  And we're not going to get them, because Barack Obama will not deploy them.  But he'll certainly get rid of a lot of nasty, unwanted explosive ordnance.  You could almost call it "creative scrapping" of the U.S. military munitions inventory.

Incidentally, you know that "U.S.-led coalition"?  I.e. Saudi Arabia and a few of the Persian Gulf emirates?  Well, they're not actually joining in the airstrike sorties.  They're basically allowing us to use their airspace and bases.  For now.  Which, in turn, is why the term "U.S.-led" isn't completely ridiculous, because at the present time, we have nobody behind which to "lead".

Actually, I take that back; we are hiding behind the French.  Until it comes time to cross the Syrian border, anyway.  After that, O is on his own.

And there won't be any more European cover for his "blatant warmongering":

Hayden, who [i]s the former director of the National Security Agency and the CIA, said he was surprised that no NATO nations joined in Monday's airstrikes.....

Why, General?  They know that O isn't serious about any of this.  Besides, the Euros might not even have planes anymore.

Hayden said he understood the hesitation of Great Britain to participate after last year's refusal to join the U.S. in bombing Syria over [the Islamic State's] use of chemical weapons [to frame Bashar al-Assad and dupe the U.S. into taking him out for them].

I.e. they didn't want to get duped then, and they don't want to be left holding the bag now when O inevitably retreats.

He said France had only indicated they "may bomb in Iraq, but they won't bomb in Syria." The real focus needed to be on Turkey, Hayden said, where there was a "hundreds of kilometers-long border" with Iraq and Syria.

I dunno, General.  It was difficult enough to get The One to pretend to bomb Iraq.  It was a mid-level miracle to get him to pretend to bomb Syria.  I don't think there's any way on God's green Earth you're going to convince him to pretend to bomb Turkey.  Not that that dallama Erdoğan couldn't use a few well-placed hellfires up his got.

If you mean persuading the Turks to join O's "Coalition Of The Invisible," I wouldn't hold my breath, if I were you.

Exit questions: How long until ISIS retaliates here at home?  Months?  Weeks?  Days?  Hours? How will President Relentless Pursuit react? And is that not as rhetorical a question as it sounds?
