Hard Starboard Radio: 2013 - The Year In Review
A look back at Year 5 Obama Dominae through the eyes of JASmius, Douglas V. Gibbs, Alex Ferguson, Santa Claus, and Dave Barry. And Sean Hannity thinks HE books panels of all-star expert analysts.
Imagine him writhing in envy at 6PM Eastern/3PM Pacific. Because he'll never let that reaction make the airwaves.
Palin On MSNBCCCP's Insult Of Romney Grandson: "Holy Unbelievable"
by JASmius
No, Mrs. Palin, it's entirely believable, from start to finish:
One of these "things"? Oh, wait, neither of the individuals in the pic were female, so I guess it was permissible to objectify them. Plus, you know, Mitt, and by dint of adoptive association, Kiernan, are Republicans, so they're much lower than inanimate objects.
Well, yeah, if Mr. West's daughter is willing to convert to Mormonism. Imagine how many black conservatives they'd pump out! It'd be Mia Love times at least a dozen. Is MH-P being careful what she wishes for?
Republicans: diverse in ethnicity, gender, and thought; Democrats: diverse in ethnicity, gender.....and absolutely nothing else.
BTW, Dean, how many African-American kids have you adopted, hm?
'cuda, in her trademark style, let 'em have it with both barrels, all phaser banks, and full torpedo bays:
The question that comes to my mind from this is why anybody on the Left would feel the need to take shots at Governor Romney. He lost, after all; he'll never run for political office again; he's no threat to them. He's permanently in private life, retired, exiled from the sphere of politics. It was a gratuitous, wholly uncalled-for, comprehensively unfunny nad shot with a truncheon, which goes a long way in explaining why it aired on MSNBCCCP.
Outside the asylum, the reviews were not rave:
I know what my reply to MH-P's tweet would have been: "[Bleep] you, Missy. Take your phony-baloney rote apology and shove it up your junk-trunk. The next step will be a challenge to a duel, Andy Jackson style. Savvy?"
Wanna know how bad this was? This bad:
When you're getting rebuked from the right by Keith F'ing Olbermann.....now that's "holy unbelievable."
No, Mrs. Palin, it's entirely believable, from start to finish:
The guests on MSNBCCCP's "Melissa Harris-Perry" show on Sunday mocked a family photo of 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. In the picture, Romney held his adopted grandchild, Kieran Romney, who is black.
During the show, panelist Pia Glenn sang, "One of these things is not like the others," while fellow panelists laughed.
One of these "things"? Oh, wait, neither of the individuals in the pic were female, so I guess it was permissible to objectify them. Plus, you know, Mitt, and by dint of adoptive association, Kiernan, are Republicans, so they're much lower than inanimate objects.
Harris-Perry then pondered the idea of a marriage between Kieran and singer Kanye West's daughter.
Well, yeah, if Mr. West's daughter is willing to convert to Mormonism. Imagine how many black conservatives they'd pump out! It'd be Mia Love times at least a dozen. Is MH-P being careful what she wishes for?
And, political comedian Dean Obeidallah sarcastically commented that the picture "sums up the diversity of the Republican party."
"Holy unbelievable. The hypocritical leftist lamestream media should be shamed by every caring, child-loving American. It has once again reached a new low," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday....
"Leftist media hounds are not expressing an opinion with this attack; they are expressing a prejudice that would never be accepted if it came from anyone else but the lib media," Palin wrote.
"You really need a conscience, yellow journalists. May your 2014 New Year's Resolution be to find one," she added.
The question that comes to my mind from this is why anybody on the Left would feel the need to take shots at Governor Romney. He lost, after all; he'll never run for political office again; he's no threat to them. He's permanently in private life, retired, exiled from the sphere of politics. Outside the asylum, the reviews were not rave:
"I’m not even sure what the threshold anymore is for MSNBC going too far," Ann Navarro, Republican CNN contributor, said Monday on “Erin Burnett OutFront,” according to Politico.
"Nothing is lower than humiliating a child. So, uhm, well done, MSNBC," John Nolte of Breitbart.com wrote.
Perry later apologized on Twitter.
I know what my reply to MH-P's tweet would have been: "[Bleep] you, Missy. Take your phony-baloney rote apology and shove it up your junk-trunk. The next step will be a challenge to a duel, Andy Jackson style. Savvy?"

Happy New Year. . . Even to the grumps
By Douglas V. Gibbs
I am naturally a happy person. I am passionate, and always have a smile on my face. . . well, almost always. There is a person I sometimes deal with during my workday, and he is never happy. Once he said to me, "This job is making me anti-social."
Making?
Today, I saw him, grinned, and said, "Come on, man, let's see that New Years smile. You gotta smile every once in a while."
He said, "Nope. And don't push it, Doug."
I love him, anyways.
To the rest of you, who may not be so grumpy, and even to those of you that are as grumpy, Happy New Years.
I love the new year. New opportunities, new beginnings, and new adventures.
Blessings,
Douglas V. Gibbs

Global Warming Scientists: Too Much Ice!
By Douglas V. Gibbs
A bunch of years ago a friend of mine, who is originally from Alaska, told me the hype about Polar Bears being in trouble as a species was a crock. He told me that there are 16 major polar bear populations in Alaska. Of those groups, all of them increased in size, except for two, which remained stable. As for the image of the polar bear stranded on a block of ice floating somewhere in the Arctic Ocean, popularized by Al Gore, he said that these animals can swim for miles, and it is not uncommon for them, to take a break, or for the fun of it, to climb up on a chunk of free-floating ice.
Since then, emails have been obtained showing the Climate Change folks rigging computer models to force the outcome they desire, evidence that "their" global warming evidence is faulty, and evidence that we are not only not warming, but when we were, it was by natural means.
Nature has not cooperated with the global warming models, and so the revelation forced the scientists to change the name from "global warming" to "climate change." Still, they demand climate change is man-made, and that we need big government to become bigger so that it can regulate people's lives to save the planet.
Earth is pretty resilient. The bacteria that cleaned up the oil spill in the gulf when BP's explosion caused all havoc was a great example of that. I don't believe we could destroy the Earth if we tried, much less save it from a made-up boogeyman created by liberal left environmentalists.
As time passes, the climate change people remain in place, but they aren't so loud. We are being distracted by other things, so they do their green tyranny in the shadows. However, once again, nature is not cooperating, and the climate change folks have gotten to the point of just throwing up their hands - but they won't. . . their hard left liberal agenda is much more important than a bunch of silly little facts of reality.
In an effort to prove once and for all the truth that polar ice is melting, despite what those darn climate change deniers are saying, a crew set off for Antarctica. Instead of a melting ice cap, they were forced to abandon their mission, because the ice was too thick.
The scientists have been stuck aboard the stricken MV Akademik Schokalskiy since Christmas Day, with repeated sea rescue attempts being abandoned as icebreaking ships failed to reach them. One vessel attempting to rescue them got stuck, too, just six nautical miles from the ship.
Now that effort has been ditched, with experts admitting the ice is just too thick. Instead the crew have built an icy helipad, with plans afoot to rescue the 74-strong team by helicopter.

Islamic Terrorist Bombing in Russia Cautions Olympic Security
By Douglas V. Gibbs
On Sunday, as the Winter Olympic Games approach, an explosion blasted through a railway station in Volgograd, immediately killing 16 people. Another has died from her injuries, since, bringing the death toll to 17. Some reports have the death toll as high as 30, when one adds another bombing on a trolleybus in Volgograd. The attacker at the railway station was a Muslim woman, a suicide bomber. In Russia, female suicide bombers have become more common in recent years, earning them the nickname, "Black Widows." As investigators sift through the twisted metal of the trolleybus, they are coming to the conclusion that the twin attacks are linked.
Experts suggest the terrorist attack was by a woman of Chechen origin, in an attempt to bring awareness of issues regarding Muslim regions in Russia's Caucuses. These attacks have been happening in the same area for some time, as well as in Moscow at one of the major airports.
The attack on Volgograd's railway station comes only six weeks before the Winter Olympic Games commence in nearby Sochi, encouraging Olympic Security to pay special attention. The suicide bombing coincides with a call for attacks several months ago by Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov. He called for attacks against civilian targets in Russia, including the Sochi Games. Umarov, the self-proclaimed emir of a terrorist group that calls itself the Caucasus Emirate, has called on Muslims to prevent the Olympics from occurring.
Islam claims the Olympic Games is a provocation, occurring on lands conquered from the Muslims (after they conquered them in the first place). Volgograd was not a typical target, but the city formerly known as Stalingrad has been struck twice in two months — suggesting militants may be using the transportation hub as a renewed way of showing their reach outside their restive region.

Peter King: Russia Blasts Are 'Wake-Up Call' On Islamic Terror
by JASmius
We would all like to be able to believe that, wouldn't we? But, unfortunately, we all know better:
Here's more on said "report," which is a smarmy synonym for "latest Regime excuse" [h/t: Jim Geraghty's Morning Jolt]:
Y'see, gentles, as Barack Obama sees "man-caused disasterism," if it's al Qaeda doing it, that's bad, because bagging Osama bin Laden was supposed to have ended al Qaeda, so if al Qaeda defeated us in Benghazi (while the one-man SEAL Team Six was watching in real time, munching on a tub of shrimp and making "Wow, that looks just like Call of Duty" jokes), that means getting bin Laden didn't end al Qaeda, and The One looks really, really foolish; but if it isn't al Qaeda that defeated us in Benghazi, but some other mob of heavily-armed, infidel-hating jihadists that's just al Qaeda-affiliated or al Qaeda-inspired, that's perfectly okay, because they're not al Qaeda. For President Gutsy Call, the War on Asymmetric Kinetic Ouch begins and ends with his one-consonant-away namesake. Which ought to give you an idea of how big and free a hand Hezbollah and Hamas have to light the American homeland up from sea to radioactive sea.
Representative King (RINO-NY2), possessed of delusions of presidential grandeur, wasn't long in cutting to the left-wingnut motivations behind this latest flailing alibi:
Well, sure, the Dems would like to take Benghazi away from the GOP as an issue. But there are a couple of problems with that: (1) This "dog ate my homework" nonsense isn't going to accomplish that; and (2) in order for Benghazi to even become an issue, the Obamedia has to be pushing it as they surely would be if that debacle had happened on a Republican president's watch. Which they will never do, as this NYT piece redundantly illustrates. Which, therefore, ought not disappoint Peter King, because he shouldn't have expected anything else. Which, in turn, reveals his unsuitability for the presidency, even if he did have the stature and resume for the office.
But that consulate assault did take place at around....3AM EDT, didn't it? Hmmmm.
UPDATE: What's this? al Qaeda is not only alive, not only well, but on the comeback trail? My, my, my, the White House isn't going to like this story. I hope Lisa Barron can afford a security detail, because jihadists may be the least of her worries.
We would all like to be able to believe that, wouldn't we? But, unfortunately, we all know better:
King says the attacks should be a reminder to those who think "al-Qaida is dead or al-Qaida and its affiliates don't have the power they once had."
"They are very lethal, and in many ways more dangerous than they were before September 11th[, 2001]."
King criticized a New York Times report that contends local militias and not al-Qaida were responsible for the attack that left four Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, in Benghazi, Libya, earlier this year.
Here's more on said "report," which is a smarmy synonym for "latest Regime excuse" [h/t: Jim Geraghty's Morning Jolt]:
The Times report zeroes in on militia leader Abu Khattala as well as the like-minded Islamist militia Ansar al Sharia.
In a recent interview with CNN's Arwa Damon, Khattala acknowledged being at the Benghazi mission after the attack but denied any involvement.
Damon spent two hours interviewing Khattala at a coffee shop at a well-known hotel in Benghazi. He allowed Damon to use an audio recorder to tape the conversation, but refused to appear on camera.
Khattala's narrative of the events that night was sometimes unclear and, at times, seemed to be contradictory, Damon said.
He admitted to being at the compound the night of the attack, but denied any involvement in the violence.
Asked about allegations he may have masterminded the attack, Khattala and two of the men he brought with him to the interview "burst out laughing," Damon said.
Khattala told CNN that he had not been questioned by either Libyan authorities or the FBI.
The militia leader was one of those whom U.S. prosecutors charged in the attacks, as CNN first reported.
He says the story was concocted to help Democrats in the 2016 presidential race, particularly Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state who has been under fire for her handling of the Benghazi attack.
"[They want to take the] issue away from Republicans no matter who the Democratic nominee is. Whether or not it's Hillary Clinton, they want this issue taken away, and it's part of a systematic effort here," he said.
"This story is meaningless and baseless, and by putting that headline on it — I'm disappointed in how much the media went along with it, by the way."
Muslims Target Olympics: Russian Bombings Kill 31

But don't worry, my fellow Americans, because bin Laden is still dead:
Almost makes me wish that O had been able to get the 2020 Summer Games for Chicago, so that we could see how close al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and whomever else could have come to making that craphole look in real life as the Decepticons did in Dark of the Moon.
Of course, on the other hand, Democrats did the same thing to Detroit, and without the assistance of bloodthirsty jihadists or giant evil "drillers".
But take heart, my friends, for the Russians are taking.....no additional security precautions:
Look at it this way: At least the ROC won't have to spend money on fireworks for the opening and closing ceremonies, since the Chechen Muslim bloodmisters will provide enough for the end entire two and a half weeks.
Oh, yes, and the Obama Regime issued a statement, which serves as a wonderful combination of nitrous oxide and anti-insomnia medication, but not much else.
But don't worry, my fellow Americans, because bin Laden is still dead:
The Winter Olympics, set to open in Russia in less than six weeks, have been thrown into chaos after two terrorist bombs killed 31 people in a city that thousands of spectators will travel through on their way to the games in Sochi.
Already the Australian team is considering pulling out of the games following the explosions in Volgograd, the regional transportation hub.
And U.S. authorities are cooperating with Russian authorities as a crackdown on Islamic separatists from the troubled North Caucasus region is seen as inevitable.
The bombings have been linked to separatists from the Russian republics of Chechnya and Dagestan — the area that spawned Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Almost makes me wish that O had been able to get the 2020 Summer Games for Chicago, so that we could see how close al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and whomever else could have come to making that craphole look in real life as the Decepticons did in Dark of the Moon.

But take heart, my friends, for the Russians are taking.....no additional security precautions:
The head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, said Monday that no extra security measures would be adopted despite the attacks, the first time a top-ranking Russian official has spoken out about concerns that the games could be targeted, reports the state-owned RAI Novosti.
"Concerning the Olympic Games in Sochi, all necessary security measures are provided for, and extra security measures in light of the act of terrorism in Volgograd will not be taken, because everything needed is done," he said.
Retired Army General Calling For The Forced Resignation Of Barack Obama
by JASmius
Because, of course, that's much more likely than impeachment:
Strictly speaking, (1) "constitutional duties" refers to impeachment, not futile grandstanding; and (2) the impeachment process doesn't involve all branches of government. So clearly, General Vallely is something less than a constitutional scholar.
As is always the case with this kind of tiresome cheerleading, I commend General Vallely for his objective, but can only shake my head at his designated tactics, and the fact that he thinks they have a prayer of succeeding. The fact of the matter is that "the leaders" haven't failed this nation, they've sabotaged it. They are analogous to an enemy occupation force. Which means, logically, that they cannot be "pressured" into anything, much less surrendering power voluntarily, no matter how loud and widespread the "civil uprisings" demanding it. To the contrary, that's only likely to hasten an American version of Tianenmen Square.
He also doesn't even recognize who the enemy is:
I'm sure Reid, Pelosi, McConnell, and Boehner would be surprised to learn that they are both members of Congress and "administration officials". Apparently the separation of powers problem is worse than even I imagined.
Well, maybe Crazy Nancy wouldn't be. And I'd say that's about right.
Why is it I still have to ask what the hell Boehner and McConnell have to do with the laying waste of America? They've been doing their best to slow it down in heavily outnumbered political combat, last I checked - and I check often. But let's assume Vallely's idiotically indiscriminate premise, just for giggles; and let's also assume that his silly strategy could actually "get the job done" - who would take their places in those leadership positions? Assuming all the [snicker] "forced resignations" took place at the same time, that would put Eric Cantor in the White House, with, perhaps, Paul Ryan as either his appointed veep or as the new House Speaker; Dick Durbin or Chucky Schumer would be the new Senate Majority Chisler, with John Cornyn as the new Senate Minority Leader; and, I guess, Steny Hoyer would become the new House Minority Leader. By General Vallely's lights, how would this be any improvement? And so would begin another round of "civil uprisings" to "force" their resignations, and so on into higgledy-piggledy absurdity.
The worst part of this is, a lot of Tea Partiers are going to go into orgasmic raptures over this nonsense.
Now let me reiterate: I would love to be able to force every Democrat to quit. Come up with a serious, viable way of making that happen and I'll be first in line. But there's a word for such notions: fantasy. And fantasy is what losing political movements descend or retreat into when they discover how difficult it is to "turn the country around" and can't accept that it's not easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy as they think it should be by sole virtue of the righteousness of their cause.
The Constitution, interestingly enough, provides a remedy for just such situations as the one in which we find ourselves: elections. As in, winning them. You want to "take the country back," that's how you do it. Which means you need to play the political game, accept that politics is a profession, and leave it to the professionals who know how to win elections, instead of the facile mythological indulgence of the "citizen-politician" that keeps kicking away chance after chance to actually attain the Tea Party's goals.
The other niggling detail is, elections preclude short-cuts and end-arounds like "civil uprisings" to "force" mass resignations of high office-holders. Because, as every right-winger should know, the Left has been, is, and always will be better than we are at such extra-democratic agitating. In addition to which is the extrapolation of General Vallely's exhortation: a back and forth ginnip-ginnop of election and "civil uprising" until the latter completely dispenses with the former. Pick whatever analogy you like - Greece, America in the 1850s, America in the 1960s, etc. - but that doesn't sound to me like a path that leads to the resurrection and strengthening of stable, healthy constitutional republicanism. As is always the case with any incarnation of revenge, there's no such thing as firing the last shot until one combatant or the other is dead.
None of the above is to say that General Vallely and whomever wishes to follow his lead don't have the First Amendment right to do so. They absolutely do. They just need to remember that none of their protests, none of their squalling, and none of their demands are going to make one single solitary bit of difference, and will actually get in the way of realizing what we all want to see.
Of course, Barack Obama is unlikely to permit any more elections anyway, which just means that the uprisings, when they come, will be far from civil.
Because, of course, that's much more likely than impeachment:
A retired Army general, Major General Paul E. Vallely, is demanding Congress and all branches of our government to do their "Constitutional duties" demanding the "forced resignations" of Obama and other administration officials.
Strictly speaking, (1) "constitutional duties" refers to impeachment, not futile grandstanding; and (2) the impeachment process doesn't involve all branches of government. So clearly, General Vallely is something less than a constitutional scholar.
Vallely is the former deputy commanding general of Pacific Command. He said there needs to be a grass-roots campaign that includes protests and social media.
He's calling for nationwide rallies, protests and peaceful "civil uprisings" to get the job done. The leaders who have failed this nation need to be pressured into leaving office.
The other administration officials he's calling for the forced resignation of are, Vice President Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY., House Speaker John Boehner, R-OH8, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA8.
The Atheists Of Christmas
by JASmius
I don't know why he bothers. These days I have all the time in the world, and I wouldn't waste any of it on sparring with these sneering pusbags. What they need to hear in response is the Gospel, the Gospel, the Gospel, and oh yes, the Gospel. Not publicly, but in direct, private replies. Because at one time or another, we were all sneering pusbags. And the Creator of time itself took a portion of it to come all the way down here as a Man, live a sinless life and die a sinner's death both in our place, rise again, and make possible our rescue from eternal sneering pusbaggery.
Besides, the Gospel drives 'em far battier than being accurately described.
Atheists cannot help but send Bill nasty notes for Christmas. Bill answers a couple here.

Ted Cruz Takes Steps To Renounce Canadian Citizenship
by JASmius
Or, "Ted Cruz sells out":
A few observations:
***I don't believe for a hoser second that a man of Senator Cruz's mental acumen and chosen profession could have been unaware that he held Canadian citizenship. For heaven's sake, if a three-watt bulb like Wolverine knew about his....
....then what could possibly be Cruz's excuse?
***He's clearly running for president. Ted Cruz, that is, not Wolverine. Actually, I'd sign up in an adamantium minute if Wolverine were running. Nobody could ever call James Logan a "squish". Cruz, by contrast, has at least three strikes against him: (1) he's a senator; (2) he's got the worst political judgment I've ever seen - which his candidacy would depressingly re-confirm; and (3) he reminds me far more of Keanu Reaves (specifically the scene in the first Matrix where Cipher turns heel, kills several of Morpheus's crew by "unplugging" them, is about to do the same to Neo, and tells Trinity to "look into his eyes....those big, pretty eyes") than he ever will Hugh Jackman.
***The fact that Senator Cruz is running away from the Left's inevitable, and ridiculous, "birther" retribution ought to be dismaying, if not anger-inducing, to Tea Partiers. First, because I've been told ad nauseum that what the Tea Party values above all else is candidates who will FIGHT!, FIGHT!, FIGHT! for their principles no matter what the circumstances; now here's the Tea Party's Kahless The Unforgettable pre-emptively fleeing for the tall grass on the Left's first salvo before they've even launched it. And second, because it doesn't matter if he renounces his Canadian citizenship, because the Left will still "birtherize" him, and LIVs and NIVs will believe it, facts be damned and despite the additional fact that that avenue of attack would be beyond absurd either way. Which brings us back to his abysmal lack of political judgment.
I suppose I should throw in this as well:
This is, of course, the standard professional politician question-dodging non-answer. He won't be announcing his quixotic presidential bid for another year and a half, so sure, his focus is on representing Texas. But in early 2015? Well, he won't speculate on that. Yet.
But rest assured, my Tea Party friends, to borrow a catch phrase from Master Yoda, "He will be - he will be...." The only question is, will TPers ever come to recognize Ted Cruz for what he is: every bit the "professional politician" they claim to detest?
Or, "Ted Cruz sells out":
Senator Ted Cruz, R-TX, has hired lawyers to officially renounce his Canadian citizenship and expects the process to be completed in 2014, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Cruz says he was not aware of his dual citizenship until it was brought to his attention by the newspaper earlier this year.

Desperate Democrats Push For ObamaCare "CEO"
by JASmius
Well, this is a no-brainer; because, naturally, a president and an HHS commissar aren't enough chiefs, and the White House is running out of indians:
Um, what makes anybody think that an ObamaCare "czar" doing the exact same things O and Kathleen Sebelius have been doing would produce results that would be any different? The UCLA's problem isn't leadership; the UCLA is the problem. The obstinate hubris and blind self-faith that leads Obamunists to believe, despite more than a century of evidence to the contrary, that they can take over and run a three trillion dollar industry better than the free market can is the problem. Think of it this way: If you enter a Yugo in the Indianapolis 500, you can put Michael Andretti or Danica Patrick behind the wheel, but you're still going to lose humiliatingly. And it is that perpetuitous failure that exposes what their true agenda is: power. Control. And Americans do not like being controlled.
But advocates of this cockamamie "CEO" idea know this. What they're really trying to do is frantically plug the PR leaks in the listing USS Obamatanic by grabbing any warm bodies they can and throwing them between The One and an angry, soon to become livid, American electorate like the Michelin Man throwing tires onto moving vehicles with the 2014 midterms coming over the horizon. An O-Care "czar" would be an additional degree of propaganda separation.
Which is another way of saying that whatever poor bastard was stupid enough to take the job would be a dead man walking from day one. They might as well call the post "Designated Scapegoat". It would come with an office, a computer, a cell phone, and a sword to fall on. S/he would be the one going out daily to lie obscenely and roll out endless excuses and finger-pointing and all the other festivities that Barack Obama has been having so gosh darn much fun doing. And when that "CEO" was used up, s/he would be bleepcanned, and in would come another, and another, and another, while O "pivoted" to anything but healthcare.
In short, a defensive move.
And you know how these animals feel about playing defense. Which is why Dr. Chicago will never buy this idea.
And, sure enough:
I would love to be able to believe that the reason they're not considering the "CEO" idea is because such a post would, constitutionally speaking, almost certainly require Senate confirmation. I would also love to have a Star Trek replicator, holosuite, and transporter, so that I'd never have to leave my house again, and if I did, I could do so in style. If they bought the idea, they'd just create another "czar" slot for this position, even though Harry Reid has made it impossible for Republicans to block confirmations.
No, the reason the White House is rejecting this recommendation is because ObamaCare is Red Barry's baby.....
.....he believes with a blind-guide zealot's fervor that it's going to work, and he doesn't want to share the credit, glory, or adulation with anybody else. He believes it so blindly that he's willing to cast his party to the four winds for it. Which makes no never mind to him, since he's Supreme Leader now and doesn't need them anymore. They served their purpose.
It's a shame, actually; all those Democrat ex-senators and ex-representatives would have made a nice, big stable of CEO fodder.
Well, this is a no-brainer; because, naturally, a president and an HHS commissar aren't enough chiefs, and the White House is running out of indians:
The White House is coming under pressure from some of its closest allies on healthcare reform to name a chief executive to run its federal health insurance marketplace and allay the concerns of insurers after the rocky rollout of ObamaCare.
Advocates have been quietly pushing the idea of a CEO who would set marketplace rules, coordinate with insurers and state regulators on the health plans offered for sale, supervise enrollment campaigns and oversee technology, according to several sources familiar with discussions between advocates and the Obama administration.
Supporters of the idea say it could help regain the trust of insurers and others whose confidence in the healthcare overhaul has been shaken by the technological woes that crippled the federal HealthCare.gov insurance shopping website and the flurry of sometimes-confusing administration rule changes that followed.
In short, a defensive move.
And you know how these animals feel about playing defense. Which is why Dr. Chicago will never buy this idea.
And, sure enough:
The White House is not embracing the idea of creating a CEO, administration officials said.
"This isn't happening. It's not being considered," a senior administration official told Reuters.
The Totalitarian Nature of American Modern Liberalism
By Douglas V. Gibbs
As a rule, tyranny blankets itself with goodness. It proclaims itself as being what is best for the community. Tyranny states that it is tolerant, fair, and charitable. They call for equity, diversity, and love. They say they support the rule of law, and want nothing more than for our society to be one of order, and fair moral standards. Tyranny calls for economic equality, community oneness, and an end to anything that comes close to the unfairness of monopoly. Tyranny claims to be there to help, to assist, and to protect. The tyrant rises up as a friend and guardian, professing change, hope, and a new kind of freedom. They offer peace, and safety. They proclaim utopia, free from the bondage of possessions, borders, and religion. Theirs is a paradise, offered by a ruling elite, and all you must do is submit to their dictates.
Change is approaching. Collapse is feared. Division has increased. Tolerance has become a one-way street that is not tolerated in any other way. The God-given right of freedom of speech has been demoted to the rank of "Special Privilege." Fairness and charity means that any success will be punished, stripped from the producer, and given to those that fail to produce enough to lift themselves out of poverty. Equity is being forced, not based on opportunity, but on the mandates of an ever-increasing governmental power. Diversity is being used to divide and conquer, and love is being defined as "agree with everything I am or do, or else you are a hater." The rule of law has departed from the Constitution, and is defined by the manipulative rulings of judiciary that is being stacked with leftist judges, thanks to the nuclear option, as we speak. Order and fairness are being monitored by intelligence agencies, and the Internal Revenue Service. Moral standards have been flipped to mean the opposite of what they once were. Economic equality is an aim to ensure everyone is equal in misery, unless, of course, you are a member of the ruling elite, or a favored corporation that has joined the leftist's system of mercantilism. Community oneness is one of shackles and bondage in the name of sustainability, and any growth of anything, other than that of government power, is considered greedy, hateful, and a monopoly. They are helping to destroy individuality, dismantle State Sovereignty, assist in stamping out liberty, and are doing all they can to protect us from ourselves through mandates regarding how we eat, how we act, what we say, and if they are going to allow us to continue to live our lives, or even receive medical treatment, through government manipulated health care. Possessions are being considered greedy and must be relinquished in the name of fairness. Borders are being considered evil and racist, and anyone and everyone, regardless of their intent to harm this nation, are not only welcome, but qualify for government gifts paid by the taxpayer. The religion of this nation from its founding is being silenced, as the religions of secularism, and Islam, which have the goal of replacing our constitution with their own dictatorial laws, are embraced, protected, and promoted. Paradise is hell, and the world being offered by the liberal left democrats, if you draw it all out to a logical conclusion someday in the future, is nothing more than a totalitarian tyranny not unlike any other dictatorship in history.
They claim to be offering their help, but what they offer is poison, and infection. The charm of the leftists has become even offensive to the average, uninformed voter. The younger vote is leaving the ranks of Obama supporters in droves. The Orwellian system is being rejected, and the response by the leftists is to double down.
Leftists are planners. They draw everything out, and marvel at how wonderful their plans of a government-guided society works on paper. Timetables are set, and the plans are drawn out. Dust is being blown off of old, Marxist legislation. They know not to go too fast. If their plans move too quickly, the people may realize what they are up to, and reject it before they have a chance to make the people dependent upon it. But, they can't move too slowly, either. Opportunities for leftist progression only appears once every sixteen or twenty years. One, maybe two, terms of a presidency, is all they have. Careful planning. Urgent application. Deception and lies, coupled with celebrity messiah-hood, is the plan of action.
With Barack Obama, the leftists got what they've been waiting for. The plan was perfect. Control government, recruit as many leftist radicals to man governmental posts as possible, do all they can to shove as much leftism into the system as possible, and when word of what they were up to began to bubble up through the ranks of the opposition, proclaim all dissenters racist and radical extremists, and then go about their business as the opposition is beaten to a pulp by their accomplices in the media.
As with The Mule in Asimov's Foundation Series, the leftists did not expect the rise of the Tea Party. The 2010 Election threw a huge wrench into their plans. Characters like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are like searchlights being directed at their dark deeds. People who normally would not care, or would normally not be paying attention, are watching, scrutinizing, and are realizing the dangers of the consolidation of power we are seeing. They have realized they must move quickly. Time is running out.
When tyranny gets desperate, tyranny does desperate things. The agencies are now under the direct orders of the White House. A Wall Street collapse, purposely orchestrated, is being considered. Seeking a third term, though unconstitutional, for President Obama is a common discussion among liberal leftists. Finding a way to silence the opposition, be it through force, or political correctness, is underway. The actions currently being carried out is not working. The opposition continues to point fingers, to scream their dissent, and proclaim the Left's actions as tyrannical, dangerous, and un-American.
What good is dictating to people what they can and can't do under the guise of health care if nobody signs up? What good is manipulating the currency if people buy gold, silver, or cyber-currency? How can the private industry be controlled if underground markets rise up? How can the media be as effective as they desire if a conservative media is bubbling up around it through cable, and Online? How can the opposition be silenced if they won't shut up? How can guns be controlled if people won't surrender them? How can more taxes be taken if people find a way around it, or leave the country, or use means of barter?
Eventually, leftism discovers that it cannot gain its utopia without using government to force everyone in that direction. Eventually, the statists realize that only through force will the opposition comply. Only through threats, and acting upon those threats, will the dissent be silenced.
The logical conclusion, if one is to draw it out, is that if the liberal left in America is not stopped, eventually, someday, they will resort to force. . . not through "storm troopers kicking down doors," as Jonah Goldberg once stated, "but with lawyers and social workers saying. 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
You will comply.
I am an optimist. I will not comply. I will not capitulate. I will defend the Constitution. I will defend liberty.
It can be done, bit by bit, piece by piece. Remember, they never expected the 2010 Election to go the way it did, and it really gummed up the works for the leftists. We just need to work on doing things like that again, and again, and again - but not just in national elections, but locally. Infiltrate the school board. Infest the planning departments. Gain control of the city councils. Occupy the seats, ring the bells, submit your candidacies, and make them sweat. It can be done, if only we are willing to get off of the couch.
Sitting on the couch and complaining is not a strategy. Full throttle war, in their face, striking hard and striking often, is. Are you willing to pledge your lives, fortunes and sacred honor as the signers of the Declaration of Independence did?

81% Of Young Democrats Approve Of ACA....68% Approve Of ObamaCare

If you wondered why the Regime stopped using the term "ObamaCare," now you know.
Who says the White House is completely bereft of marketing sense? Mostly bereft, yes, but not completely.

A&E Caves On 'Duck Dynasty,' Lifts Robertson Suspension
by JASmius
Well, well, well; I guess A&E's greed exceeded their Christophobic hatred after all:
Regardless, here, representing the side of right, was Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal:
A&E did no such thing; they were simply looking at their bottom line. Don't believe me? Read between the lines of their statement:
Obligatory face-saving gesture. Also, to what "misinterpretation" is A&E referring? Theirs, or are they suggesting that it was Mr. Robertson that "misinterpreted" 1 Corinthians 6:9-11? Because if it's the latter, they're demonstrating anew that they haven't learned a damn thing from this debacle.
That's interesting, and easy, since he never did any such thing to begin with.
Indeed; it's about lining A&E's pockets. IOW, it was a business decision.
Obligatory attempt to mollify the Lavender Lobby after caving to the "h8ters". Which won't work, of course:
The Left won't rest until the entire Robertson clan has been completely destroyed. Which should make for some highly educational reality programming. As I'm sure A&E is aware.
There's nothing like a good publicity stunt, I always say.
Well, well, well; I guess A&E's greed exceeded their Christophobic hatred after all:
Buckling under a storm of controversy over the suspension of "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson, the A&E network Friday reinstated the outspoken star of the mega-hit series."Outspoken"? He was asked the obligatory question about homosexuality by a media interviewer and he didn't run away from it. Wouldn't "outspoken" have required Mr. Robertson to volunteer that opinion without being asked? Indeed, to steer the conversation in that direction?
Regardless, here, representing the side of right, was Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal:
On Friday, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal praised the decision to re-instate Robertson, according to the Daily Caller.
"I am glad to hear that the folks at A&E came to their senses and recognized that tolerance of religious views is more important than political correctness," he said in a statement. "Today is a good day for the freedoms of speech and religious liberty."
A&E did no such thing; they were simply looking at their bottom line. Don't believe me? Read between the lines of their statement:
In its statement reported by the Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news of the suspension's lifting, A&E said "a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to... principals" prompted its quick reaction to the Robertson interview in GQ.IOW, they made their grandstanding stand for their dinnermashing "principles," and now it's time to get back to being serious.
"While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the 'coarse language' he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article," the statement said.
"He also made it clear he would 'never incite or encourage hate.'"
That's interesting, and easy, since he never did any such thing to begin with.
Though A&E reiterated that it didn't agree with Robertson's views, it conceded its lucrative hit "is not a show about one man's views.
Indeed; it's about lining A&E's pockets. IOW, it was a business decision.
The network said it had talks with Robertson's family as well as with "numerous advocacy groups" before lifting its suspension.Obligatory CYA clause.
It also said it'll "use this moment to launch a national public service campaign ... promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in Duck Dynasty."
Obligatory attempt to mollify the Lavender Lobby after caving to the "h8ters". Which won't work, of course:
But....Jesse Jackson [aka the Sinister Minister] said Friday that despite A&E Network's decision to end the suspension of Phil Robertson for his insensitive remarks about gays and African Americans, the "Duck Dynasty" star needs to be "more repentant and contrite."
"Mr. Robertson's language was hurtful and painful to many people … [and] he's been unrepentant," Jackson told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"When people make mistakes, and people do make mistakes, you should be repentant and contrite and then seek forgiveness."
The Left won't rest until the entire Robertson clan has been completely destroyed. Which should make for some highly educational reality programming. As I'm sure A&E is aware.
There's nothing like a good publicity stunt, I always say.

Wall Street Expert Warns of Collapse - Recommends Bug-Out Bag with Food, Guns, and Ammunition
Posted by Douglas V. Gibbs
Here's the beginning of a very fascinating piece at the Washington Examiner:
A top financial advisor, worried that Obamacare, the NSA spying scandal and spiraling national debt is increasing the chances for a fiscal and social disaster, is recommending that Americans prepare a “bug-out bag” that includes food, a gun and ammo to help them stay alive.
David John Marotta, a Wall Street expert and financial advisor and Forbes contributor, said in a note to investors, “Firearms are the last item on the list, but they are on the list. There are some terrible people in this world. And you are safer when your trusted neighbors have firearms.”

Hard Starboard Radio: Obama's "Average" Year
The Left's "cruciphobia"; Duck Dynasty, a free society, and the dilemmas for A&E and the Lavender Lobby; ObamaCare and the Art of the Escape; 2014 as the Democrats' 1932; and where I was yesterday.

Senator Lee: Churches Should Not Be Forced To Perform SodoMarriages
by JASmius
Say this for Mike Lee: the man knows how to extrapolate on a militant leftwing issue, and he doesn't let any moss grow betwixt his toes:
It's a telling thing about the state of the nation that such a bill has to even be introduced at all. But you can just see the Obama Regime using the IRS to stamp out Christian religious liberties by forcing pastors to perform sodoweddings, just as the Lavender Lobby is forcing bakeries to sell "wedding" cakes to homosexual "couples".
Of course, you can also see O completely ignoring Lee's bill and using the IRS to effectively shut down churches by Executive decree regardless of what the law and Constitution say, too. Which indicates that the purpose of Lee's bill isn't so much to change the law, since it won't go anywhere in this Congress, but to "raise consciousness," as it were, about this issue.
Translation: With ObamaCare becoming an Extinction Level Event for Democrats in 2014, perhaps enough panicked Donks might be recruitable to Lee's cause that it could actually pass the Senate. Though I still can't see Dirty Harry allowing a vote on it, much less The One signing it if it ever got to his desk. Still, it is a worthwhile thing to do, and it lays the groundwork for passage in the next (Republican) Congress, if not this one. The only sense in which "hit 'em constantly" makes any strategic sense.
BTW, Senator Lee isn't the only one who thinks the M&RFA is necessary:
Too late, I'm afraid. But this is, in military terms, preparing the battlefield in advance of an anticipated battle. And with the anti-A&E/pro-Phil Robertson blowback tsunami inundating the Left at the worst possible time, this is a battle more than worth having.
Still, I think the day is fast approaching when civil disobedience will become necessary, and Christian pastors will be frog-marched out of their churches in handcuffs for their stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. The more unpopular Barack Obama becomes, the less he'll have to lose from letting his inner despot run free and wild, signaling for one and all to see that the Old Republic is well and truly dead.
Say this for Mike Lee: the man knows how to extrapolate on a militant leftwing issue, and he doesn't let any moss grow betwixt his toes:
Senator Mike Lee says a bill he introduced would prevent the Internal Revenue Service from denying tax-exempt status to any person or group that refuses to perform gay marriages.
"What we're talking about here is the freedom of religious belief, the freedom of a church, for example, to adhere to its own religious doctrine so that it cannot be discriminated against by the government," the Utah Republican said in an interview with Newsmax.

Which indicates that the purpose of Lee's bill isn't so much to change the law, since it won't go anywhere in this Congress, but to "raise consciousness," as it were, about this issue.
Lee said the federal government's failure to protect religious liberty — citing ObamaCare mandates for contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs — was a key motivation for him to introduce the "Marriage and Religious Freedom Act," which protects clergy from being punished if they refuse to perform gay marriages.
"This is something that the overwhelming majority of Americans would support and the overwhelming majority of Americans would be disappointed if they discovered Congress would be unwilling to pass something like this," Lee said.
The only sense in which "hit 'em constantly" makes any strategic sense.
BTW, Senator Lee isn't the only one who thinks the M&RFA is necessary:
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage, says the protections under Lee's bill are necessary, Catholic World News reports.
"Increasingly, state laws are being used to target individuals and organizations for discrimination simply because they act on their belief that marriage is the union of one man and one woman," Cordileone said.
"Such prejudice must not be allowed to spread to the federal government."
Too late, I'm afraid. But this is, in military terms, preparing the battlefield in advance of an anticipated battle. And with the anti-A&E/pro-Phil Robertson blowback tsunami inundating the Left at the worst possible time, this is a battle more than worth having.

Islam's Christmas Message: Jesus Would Fight America
By Douglas V. Gibbs
The followers of the False Prophet, and Pedophile barbarian murderer, Muhammad, a.k.a. Muslims, make it no secret that they hate Jews, and they hate Christians. Islam is called the Religion of Peace because the belief is that once jihad eliminates all opposition, there will be peace.
That's why the liberals get along with them so well. Liberals believe the same. Once they silence, and ultimately eliminate, all opposition, there will be peace.
Karl Marx once said, "Peace comes when there is no opposition to socialism."
Statists. They flock together because they aren't much different from each other.
Anyway, in Iran, leading Islamic clerics, and more specifically, the Iranian ayatollah, says that "Jesus would fight America."

That was the Iranian supreme religious theocratic Muslim leader's words on Christmas Day.
“If Christ were among us today, he would not spare even a single moment to fight the leaders of despotism and global arrogance,” he said on Facebook, using the Islamic Republic’s favored term for America.
“Nor would he tolerate hunger and wandering of millions of people, degenerated by the hegemonic and colonialist powers into war, corruption, and violence,” he added.

Let me clarify. That was not Obama saying that, though I would expect he would say about the same. It was Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. You know, the guy who Obama just gave a blessing to regarding Iran's aim to build nuclear weapons?

Mad Dash for Rifles, In California, Is On!
By Douglas V. Gibbs
In California, after January 1, 2014, long rifles will have to registered no differently than handguns. In the face of anti-gun attacks by leftist politicians, consumers are in a mad dash to secure their firearms, before the government makes it harder to obtain them.
In California, the leftists are not just going after the guns. Ammunition has been their main target. Since they can't take our guns. . . yet, they figure, they will just have to make the guns useless by banning certain kinds of ammunition (which is why we are now seeing the production of "green bullets"), and limiting the size of magazines.
Anti-gun politicians are happy with what they are accomplishing in blue States, and are working hard to expand these laws into new States. These laws have economic consequences, such as how in New York and Colorado, gun manufacturers are leaving the State. But the liberal left is not concerned about that. They just want to eliminate guns. That is their aim.
As Californians dash for their rifles before the year is out, it seems that most of them have decided the fight is over, and they just want to get what they can before the regulations become too stringent. But, in the face of these threats, the answer is not to give in, but to get involved, and stay involved. Continue to hammer your representatives, both at the State level, and federally. The ruling elite need to understand they are not rulers. They are representatives, and there are millions of gun owners who will refuse to allow them to dismantle our God-given right to keep and bear arms.
Folks that are not involved also need to understand what is at stake, here. This is not a drive to keep us safe, as the leftists claim. This is an attempt to disarm American citizens, and in history the only result of disarming a citizenry is disaster. In Britain and Australia, the banning of guns has resulted in a rise in violent crimes, and home invasions. In other countries, in the past, the disarming of the people resulted in the rise of tyranny, and often the genocide of particular groups, unable to defend themselves because they were disarmed.
Hitler and Stalin are prime examples.
The greatest assault on our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is underway, not just in California, but federally, too. The powerful anti-gun lobby is doing all it can to change public opinion, using lies, distortion, misrepresentation, and emotional manipulation. Their goal is to take away our guns, to eliminate the Second Amendment, and to use the executive branch as much as possible, because Barack Obama has already shown a disdain for the United States Constitution, and the rights of American Citizens.
Harsh anti-gun laws are in the works. It is up to us to work to stop it. But if we don't contest them, they will do as they please. Before we are forced to meet with national gun confiscation, we need to fight for our gun rights. We do so by being active, and by being loud. We do so by exposing the anti-gun agenda for what it is, and pointing out the shameless strategies being used by politicians to wrestle your guns from your grip.
Activism. Conservatives need to learn to be activists. Loud, involved, and unrelenting.

When the Solution is Getting Back To Basics
By Douglas V. Gibbs
When you watch a once prosperous system deteriorate, and head towards collapse, one must ask how it got there. America has changed from the land of opportunity, to the land of government dependency. The federal government openly advertises food stamps, and their warped version of socialized medicine, in an attempt to move America to a greater dependency upon the government. But if our system is in trouble, and the troubles mirror our move towards larger government, and more complex regulatory schemes against the business world, would it not be frugal to stop the alleged progress, and go back to what worked?
In business, there is an old saying, "Don't reinvent the wheel." Seek out what works, and duplicate those methods. In health care, for example, we are being told that health insurance has made a mess of the industry, causing skyrocketing costs and a constant rise in malpractice suits. So, the Obama administration's solution is to duplicate what has failed us, but put it in the hands of government, instead of the private sector.
If a third party being involved in health care is what has ruined the industry, why would changing the third party from insurance companies, to the government, help it in any way?
What worked, long ago, was the free market. Doctors dealt directly with their patients, which lowered costs, and increased quality. That is why doctors once made house calls. They were trying to win the business of the average consumer. Then, when third party payer got involved, and the consumer no longer was overly concerned over the cost, all hell broke loose.
The same is true when it comes to government. The more complex government gets, the worse it becomes. The bigger government becomes, the more tyrannical it seems to be. Yet, it wasn't always this way. At one time, rights and freedoms existed in greater numbers, without governmental interference. Therefore, if we are to improve our country, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel with bigger government, does it not make sense to go back to the basic formula that worked so well that it made the United States a super power?
Obviously, I am not talking about the mistakes we made along the way. As a nation we have learned from our errors, and we have become a better nation as a result of our hard lessons. We no longer have legalized slavery, for example. But other than those hiccups along the way, the basic foundation of our governmental system was sound, secure, and enabled this nation to prosper.
The tough questions are not really that difficult. Looking back into history, what we realize is that "less is more." Less government encourages more growth. Less regulations encourage more business growth. Less interference by government into the private markets encourages massive economic growth. Less taxes provide more revenue. Lower taxes on higher brackets result in a higher amount of millionaires.
The formula exists, and was written down. We just ignore it. The whole key to our success in history is contained on the pages of a book you can read in about thirty minutes. It was written in a manner so the common man could understand it, and to drive home that fact, it even begins with the words, "We the People."
The Constitution of the United States was the key to making the United States the most prosperous nation in the world. State sovereignty inspired the States to be innovative. No government interference encouraged inventors to be fruitful. Minimal government regulations allowed even the poorest individuals to chase their dreams, open their own businesses, and reach for the stars. Individualism made this the Land of Opportunity, and America has prospered as a result.
The solution is simple. The solution is the basics of the Constitution. The solution is the lessons of the Founding Fathers, and a reduction in the size of the central government that, under progressive direction, is becoming a tyranny.
The method of getting us back to the basics, however, does not necessarily have to begin in Washington, or even in your State Capital. The revolution begins with you, locally, doing your part in getting a hold of your local government. Be involved. Affect the local party. Influence the local school board. Demand your city council to act in harmony with limiting principles.
Without you, we become a tyranny. But with all of us working in unison, the Liberty Revolution can return us to the basic principles that made us prosperous in the first place.
The wheels have turned before. We don't need to reinvent the wheel. We just need to put our feet on the pedals, again.
