The end of the government shutdown is being manufactured by the establishment. The Establishment Republicans, the media, and the Democrats, are signalling that the TEA Party battle to defund Obamacare, waged by a bunch of Congress Critters in the House, and a few Senators like Ted Cruz, is finally reaching its end. They have proclaimed that the TEA Party never had a chance at success, so the battle was never worth fighting. Reality, they claim, has finally caught up to Congress, and now the adults need to go back to the wheeling and dealing necessary to continue to move this nation leftward.
And, we are being told, the TEA Party lost this fight.
As Obama's Approval Rating hits 37%, only one percentage point above George W. Bush's all-time low.
In politics, war if fought differently than on a bloody battlefield. We can reach for the famous quotes of warriors and artists all we want, but in the end, it is a totally different game. In politics, perception is king. . . and proper messaging is godly.
The fear that the liberal left progressives of the Democrat Party, and leftist compliant media, would use the silly attempt (their words, not mine) to defund Obamacare by silly boys like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee to blame the Republican Party is not a reason not to go on the attack. People like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee ran for office on the promise that they would act as members of an opposition party to all of this maddening leftism, and that is exactly what they did. Despite the media's attempt to bad mouth the conservatives of the GOP, while the establishment neo-cons run and hide saying the TEA Party is destroying the party, the message is out, and people are aware of the dirty rotten scoundrel actions of the Democrat Party during the shutdown.
Usually, I don't like surveys and polls, because the numbers tend to be manipulated. The people questioned are usually from the beltway, or from large metropolitan areas, so the numbers swing decidedly leftward. However, if that is true, then the polls showing people see the Democrats may share some of the fault on the government shutdown, and that Obama's popularity is down to 37%, is significant.
The message was supplied, and Ted Cruz delivered it masterfully.
Sure, we all knew that more than likely the GOP, populated by bureaucrats and establishment lapdogs, was probably not going to hang on long enough to force Obama and the zombies of the Senate (Sorry, Reid looks like a living dead stand-in) to the negotiating table. Nor did we truly believe, with the progressives in place, that Obamacare would go away. But for the sake of principles, and delivering a message, the battle was worth fighting.
Did they destroy the Republican Party?
Of course not.
Were they trying to?
Not even.
In reality, the conservatives of the GOP are trying to save the party. We have a baseball team filled with players unwilling to play to win. They need to be exposed, and removed. This government shutdown revealed where everyone stands.
Were the voters paying attention?
I sure hope so.
We will see.
One thing is for sure: People are disgusted with the way people like Ted Cruz was attacked for daring to stand up to the progressives, not only of the Democrat Party, but in his own party as well.
What good are principles if you are unwilling to stand on them?
The TEA Party Republicans stood up for their principles, and stood upon them. This was a huge victory for them. The Democrats let important functions go unfunded as the Republicans offered individual continuing resolutions for each of them. The Donkeys wanted all or nothing. "Give us everything, or everyone suffers, and we will lay the fault on your shoulders."
All voters are not that stupid. They saw what was happening.
The Democrats purposely closed things to make it look worse than it was. And they exposed themselves for the devils they really are when they shut down the World War II Memorial to the Greatest Generation, and then opened the Capitol Mall to Illegal Aliens for a rally.
People noticed, despite the propaganda from the media, and the whining of the establishment.
Reality is catching up, not to Ted Cruz, but the establishment. The 2014 Election may not only send a message to the Democrats, but to the Establishment Republicans as well.
We'll See.
