When Global Warming Wasn't Man-Made

As Alaska Glaciers Melt, It's Land That's Rising - The New York Times, Cornelia Dean

Man-made Global Warming has President Obama taking more control of private industry by unveiling a plan to sharply increase federal gas mileage rules for vehicles sold in the United States, a similar plan to the one that backfired and failed during the 1970s. The newest installment of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards have the same deadly nuances as the standards applied over thirty years ago, and promises to result in the same deadly results. To fall within the government rules newer cars will have to get even smaller, lighter, and less crashworthy.

Obama is placing these deadly fuel economy rules on the heads of automakers to produce vehicles that consumers do not want because he believes the foolish notion that mankind somehow has the ability with our miniscule contribution of greenhouse gases to change the temperature of the planet, causing a worldwide crisis that only Al Gore and his fans truly believes is on the horizon.

CAFE standards, in reality, have been blamed for being the cause of thousands of deaths per year, and to increase the standards to make vehicles even smaller, using lighter materials that are unable to withstand an impact, is suicidal.

While the debate in Washington over tightening CAFE standards as a global warming measure rages, the "consensus" regarding man-made global warming is losing its supporters. On a continuous basis scientists are hopping off the bandwagon, and declaring that there is either not enough evidence to support Gore's claims, or that from a scientific standpoint, Al Gore's inconvenient truth is a convenient lie.

Articles like Cornelia Dean's piece about how Alaska's land is rising because the weight on the land by glaciers is being relieved due to melting contributes to the Global Warming hysteria. In the article she quotes a golf course owner who is planning to add holes to the course now that the sea is receding as a result of melting glaciers. She explains that "Relieved of billions of tons of glacial weight, the land has risen much as a cusion. . . after someone gets up from a couch. . . Land is emerging from the water to replace the lost wetlands, shifting property boundaries."

Did she consider there might be other causes of the land rising? Perhaps seas are receeding, or perhaps (of which she mentions casually) tectonic science can explain the rise of landmasses.

As for the Global Warming part of the argument, aside from the fact that the Antarctic ice is expanding, remember that Greenland was once green, and even Dean's article in the New York Times states warming began 200 years ago (long before mankind could be causing it).

When will the Left finally admit they are wrong about Global Warming, and that the Leftist politicians are only using it as an excuse to squeeze more taxes out of us, and to exercise more control over us?
