Founding Truth of the Constitution with Loki and Me!

HOV Radio

What is our government doing, to the American people, that is not following the Constitution? Listen here and find out!

In Memory of KMET: Bohemian Rhapsody and Bohemian Polka

When I was a young man I used to listen to KMET 94.7 FM in Los Angeles. On Sunday nights the rock station had a show called Dr. Demento which played parodies, and all around silly songs. It was listening to the Dr. Demento show that I was introduced to the stylings of Weird Al Yankovic.

During that same time period I was a big Queen fan, and of course I loved their Night at the Opera tune: Bohemian Rhapsody.

Yesterday, on the "Ten at Ten" segment on The Sound 100.3 LA (http://thesoundla.com/) they were following up songs with their covers, as they have been all week. It was yesterday that I got the pleasure of hearing once again Bohemian Polka.

Below is Queen's version, and Weird Al's zany cover.

I was laughing so hard I was crying.

Constitution Radio with Douglas V. Gibbs on KCAA, KCXL, and soon to add a station in Ohio

Today's show:

Thoughts about Anarchy.

Nicholas Cage in the second National Treasure movie said that before Lincoln it was the United States "are", and after Lincoln it became the United States "is." Cage then says in the film that this was an indication that the nation had finally come together as one nation. Was he correct?

The Occupy Wall Street folks, like the protesters against Governor Walker in Wisconsin, claimed "This is what Democracy Looks Like!" What would the Founding Fathers think of that?

Plus, the 5 Big Stories of the Week. . . Killer Santa, Honor Killings by Muslims, Pro-Lifers versus Planned Parenthood, Russian Nuclear Submarine, Iran's long range missiles, and South Carolina's Voter ID Law.

And of course, last but not least, this week's Nuts and Nuggets.

Join us at 2:00 pm Pacific on KCAAradio.com, or catch the rebroadcast on Tuesday on KCXL. A station in Ohio will be joining our growing show in the next couple weeks. I will provide details as they come available.

Past podcasts of all shows are also available.

Douglas V. Gibbs Guest on Many Moods of Vince Daniels, KCAA 1050 AM

KCAAradio.com at about 11:45 am KCAA weekend host, Douglas V. Gibbs will return to defend the Constitution against YouTube blogger, Larken Rose, a self-proclaimed anarchist. Two weeks ago, on Vince's show, Larken admitted he was an anarchist, and then said he "used to be" a constitutionalist. Then, he accused Douglas of being a collectivist, and told Doug that the Political Pistachio political commentator is closer to being a communist than Larken is.

No, the gloves are off. How will this end? Tune in to The Many Moods of Vince Daniels on KCAA 1050 AM in the Inland Empire of Southern California, or online at KCAAradio.com today at 11:45 am Pacific!

Iran Launched, or is about to launch, Long Range Missiles

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Following reports that Iran was planning on test firing long range missiles in the Strait of Hormuz, tensions around the world rose. Iran has already threatened to close the strategic oil waterway, and enforcement could come by these missiles. Iran's military exercises over the past week has caught everyone's attention, but the comment by Iran's navy spokesman, Commodore Mahmoud Mousavi that "not a drop of oil" would pass through the strait if The West followed through with sanctions in response to Iran's nuclear ambitions was the real attention getter.

Saudi Arabia has taken the threats to heart, and is preparing for the worst. The nation has bought new aircraft, and is modernizing seventy existing planes while procuring munitions, spare parts, training and maintenance contracts. Two U.S. warships are in the region where Iran is conducting its war games, but the ships are passing through on a pre-planned, routine operation.

The missile tests that got everyone into battle-ready positions were supposed to be conducted today, but Iran has announced that they plan to delay those tests of their long-range capabilities as fresh talks on Iran's nuclear program appear on the horizon. The European Union has said they are considering a ban - already in place in the United States - on imports from Iran.

This has all been typical Iranian tactics, first threatening to close Hormuz, and then magically being willing to talk about their nuclear program. They are saying, in a sense, "Give me what I want in the latter, or the former becomes a reality."

Some of Iran's missiles are believed to be capable of striking Israeli and U.S. bases in the Middle East, raising concern in Washington. The widely publicized military drills by Iranian state television is an attempt to strike a patriotic chord among ordinary Iranians, while sending a warning to any Western opposition.

Bill Maher Hates Tim Tebow for the same reason he hates Sarah Palin

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Bill Maher, when commenting about the recent Denver Broncos loss, said that "Jesus F***ed Tebow."

People like Bill Maher, who hates Christianity, conservatism, and anything else that doesn't march in goosestep with his rabid oppressive beliefs, foams at the mouth every time someone like Tim Tebow, or Sarah Palin, gains some credibility. It is the same every time. They freak out, they go on an all out attack, and they misrepresent what they don't understand.

And why?

Maher, and the other hard left, Godless, Marxist goons hates Tim Tebow for the same reason he hates Sarah Palin. . . they stand for something that is totally foreign to Bill, and they are genuine about it.

It is one thing for some fake to emerge, claim God is their guide, or something like that, and then turn out to be some hypocrite who's sleeping with the maid, or something crazy like that. But with Palin and Tebow the liberal left has searched high and low for the flaws, for the hypocrisy, for the weaknesses, so that they can expose them, and lay them out for all to see. Problem is, the leftists just can't find them. With Palin they do as they often do, and began to make crap up. They claimed she was a book burner, and that turned out to be a fabrication. They convinced people to believe Sarah said she could see Russia from her house, when it was actually Tina Fey that said it while impersonating Palin. But with Tebow, they haven't even found a way to lie about him, and it is pissing them off.

ESPN recently mic'd Tebow, and the guy was upbeat the whole time, praising God, acting positive even after an interception, and even getting along with the players of the other team. Chris Carter then said, after Ditka praised the ten minute piece, that the difference is that other players act differently when mic'd up, but Tebow? He's like that all the time.

Now Tim loves the Lord, and he has explained that he doesn't believe God is getting involved in football games. But he praises God, and thanks Him for his opportunities, just the same.

Maher doesn't get it. Christians don't think God is some genie in a bottle. We don't pray because we expect God to come running to serve us. It is the opposite. We pray to thank Him for giving us the opportunity to serve Him.

Personally, I am a Raiders fan. I don't want to like Tebow. The guy has horrible throwing mechanics, and he is the quarterback of the one team that could keep Oakland out of the playoffs. But you have to love a guy that, through his positive attitude, his inspirational personality, and sheer will, has brought the Broncos back from the brink, and has them one win away from the playoffs.

He brings the team together, to play as a family. They believe they can win because Tebow believes they can win. And that can be infectious.

But they believe it not just because Tebow believes it, but because he is genuine. He's the real deal. He is the genuine article. He loves the Lord, and he lives and plays with God at the forefront of his life. . . They love him for the same reason that Bill Maher hates him.

Pro-Lifers Sue for Documents Regarding Federal Funding of New Hampshire Planned Parenthood

New Hampshire Right to Life is suing the Obama administration for access to records about a decision to fund Planned Parenthood in violation of state rules, a move that comes amid efforts by some state officials to get rid of virtually all federal funding to The Granite State.

The organization filed suit on Thursday after complaining that the Department of Health and Human Services was ignoring its Freedom of Information Act request for documentation explaining why it awarded a $1 million grant to help fund family planning clinics in six cities despite a state decision to reject the money and allegedly absent a competitive process for health clinics to vie for the grant.

The people of New Hampshire "have the right to know why the Obama administration gave Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest baby killer, a million taxpayer dollars while cutting funding for state hospitals and community clinics," New Hampshire Right to Life President Kurt Wuelper said in a statement to news outlets.

Some Scientists Claim Shroud of Turin is Authentic

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Once again the Shroud of Turin is in the news, after some Italian scientists claim it may be the real deal.

The Shroud of Turin is a fake, and one must only refer to the Bible to know this.

Luke 24:12: But Peter arose and ran to the tomb, and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves;

John 20:6-7: Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded together and placed by itself.

Notice that in both instances the linens used to cover Jesus' body are discussed in the plural. In other words, there was no single shroud used to cover Jesus because it was more than one linen. In John, the verse goes so far as to indicate that the "handkerchief" used to cover Jesus' head was separate from the other linens. Yet, the Shroud of Turin is a single garment. The Shroud of Turin could not be authentic, for it is not consistent with the Gospels.

Unconstitutional: Justice Dept. rejects South Carolina voter ID law, calling it discriminatory

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Amendments 15 and 19 to the U.S. Constitution begins with the words "The right of citizens of the United States to vote. . ."

Amendment 26 begins with the words, "The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote. . ."

You must be a citizen to vote.

With the advent of voter fraud, the need for citizens to show ID when they vote, has arisen.

The democrats in charge of the Justice Department and the federal government, however, has decided that voter identification is discriminatory, as if it is akin to a poll tax.

Of course they feel that way. It is the democrats that have been benefiting from fraudulent voting tactics.

Why else would they be opposed to ensuring only people that are supposed to vote votes?

Twas The Night Before Liberal Christmas

Twas the Night Before Liberal Christmas 2011

By J.J. Jackson

'Twas the night before liberal Christmas, and all ‘cross the land,
The mood on the left was somber, their rhetoric quite bland.
Children they huddled in town squares with hands out,
The Occupy protestors beat cops and did shout.

Few were still listening to their rants and their cries,
But shout them they would, and promote their Big Lies.
While I was all snuggled, tightly wrapped up in my bed,
I really couldn’t care less of the things that they said.

The economy still tanked, despite them getting their “hope”,
But they didn't know why, sitting 'round smoking their dope.
They wanted more this, and they demanded more that,
While the rest of us worried about having to cook up the cat.

These moonbats were barking about all of the snow
Global Warming would cause it; didn't you know?
When what to my wondering ears did I hear?
Yawn.  Attacks on the rich  - just like each other year.

From topic to topic their babble darted so quick,
As if it had been said by a Durbin named Dick.
Like coursers they crashed through barricades and a wall,
Bottles, bricks they did hurl at the cops as they called.

"Down Liberty and Order!  Down Pigs!  Down Foul Jews!
Down America!  Down Law!  Down bankers and their Zionist crews!
Go forth with your ropes, string them up on the wall!
Leave no stone unturned - make sure to kill them all!"

On TV broken windows from east coast to west sea,
And as arrested they cry, "POLICE BRUTALITY!"
In holding cells they do catch their breath and are still,
Each mourns the death of Dear Leader, Comrade Jong-il.

It makes their hearts sink and their brains they do ache,
Bemoaning the void left with liberalism at stake.
Why oh why had he not been given more time,
To oppress his people and make their ideology shine!

With a thump and a clank, I heard a noise on the roof,
It was Nancy Pelosi, that glittering ignorant goof.
She yelled and she whined so I ran out to see,
Just in time for her to curse, the vile Tea Party.

They're evil she said, the bile dripped from her teeth,
As she looked to be short some much needed sleep.
She paced and she twirled, unable to calm down,
Then she lost her footing, crashing down with a bound.

She groaned and did griped and finally let hurtfully blare,
"THANKFULLY I'M NOT IN THAT DAMN OBAMACARE!"
I shook my head at her foolish blame game,
She called out for help, but I left her in shame.

So I went back inside to get all toasty,
Leaving her to her fate, whatever it may be.
I heard her cries fade after an hour or two,
I chanced looked outside and saw her quite blue.

To ice she had turned with a glare on her face,
That her look like something far less than her race.
It was twisted and mean, she'd died like she lived,
With hate in her heart that cut all like a shiv.

Now she is there, unable to continue her work,
To demonize producers like a self-righteous jerk.
Thirsty and parched, I poured a drink out for me,
What was it you ask?  Why of course a Two If By Tea!

Sure they're still out there, the liberals so foul,
But their comeuppance is nigh, impending and now.
So I laid down my head, and had a cautious, wide grin,
Next year will be fun, as long as liberals don't win.

Rand Paul for Vice President?

By Kevin Price

The media is buzzing over the dramatic and recent rise of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) in his race for the presidency.  He is a reflection of the old joke about “overnight success.”  Overnight, give or take untold years of campaigning for various offices.  Reuters is now reporting that Paul is now only one percentage point behind the latest “anti-Romney” front runner, Newt Gingrich in one of the only places such polls matter, which is Iowa.  The Daily Caller is reporting that Paul, may in fact have the lead as Gingrich begins to shrink.  Many are asking the question, can we take Paul seriously?

Rush Limbaugh is feeling rather “bullish” about the GOP’s prospects in 2012, stating that any of the Republicans — except for Ron Paul — could win in 2012.  Why do more traditional conservatives fear the rise of Ron Paul and fundamentally believe he cannot win in November of 2012?  There are several reasons, but here are a few of the more obvious ones:

· Paul’s approach to public policy is very 18th century.  When he talks about “constitutional” government, he means that literally.  In many areas, this resonates, but when it comes to foreign policy it creates incredible angst.  For example, he has become a perceived apologist for the Iranian regime.  He says that “sovereign countries” have the right to defend themselves anyway they desire, including with the accumulation of nuclear bombs. He pretends that the Iranian regime is somehow legitimate and is only interested in its own protection and if its efforts are more ambitious than that, it is that government’s business.  Watch out Israel, look out domestic targets in the US.  Mickey Mouse would be able to easily dismember Paul’s arguments and Obama — who has plenty of vulnerabilities in the foreign policy front — would appear to be a hawk compared to Ron Paul.

· His “blame America first” philosophy turns more off than on.  The Democrats have made a living out of discrediting the United States and “apologizing” for its behavior on the world stage.  This approach will not fly among the GOP.  He is surrounded by supporters that are called “Truthers” who believe the US government was behind September 11th and has expressed that he “understood” why terrorists would want to take down the twin towers (a “result” of years of US intervention around the world).  This approach will get Paul no where with independents or the GOP rank-and-file.  The Democrats might love this view, but they can get that from Obama.  This approach to issues promises to marginalize Paul to a point of obscurity.

· He is obsessed with pet issues that simply cause most voters’ eyes to glaze over.  Maybe the best example of this is his view on the Federal Reserve.  Paul makes it clear that virtually all of our economic problems are rooted in a monetary policy that fosters the rich and powerful and crushes the rest of the population. There is no doubt about it, the Federal Reserve is at the root of many of our economic problems, but there are not enough ten second soundbites, 30 second commercials, or 4 minute debate answers to get the American people to see it as important as he does.

The bottom line, Paul cannot win the general election in 2012. He is simply “too much” for the vast majority of Americans today. However, what happens if he places very high in Iowa?  What if he continues to resonate with big returns in the South (he will likely get no where in New Hampshire because of the large amount of independents who will vote in the GOP primaries)?  What if he accumulates too many delegates to be ignored, but not enough to deserve the nomination?  Enter his son, Rand Paul as a possible vice presidential candidate.

Rand Paul offers many things that his father does not to voters today.  He is younger and understands the political realities in a way his father clearly does not.  He knows that his speech has to be able to garner votes and not divide voters.  He has a strong sense of the importance of liberty, like his father, but would prefer to tell an audience about the impact poor government policies have on jobs rather than lecture a crowd on the horrors of the Federal Reserve.  Although highly suspicious of an interventionist foreign policy, he is not foolish enough to believe that you can replace the eagle as our national symbol, with an ostrich.  He is quick to point out the failures of nation building and foreign aid, while not pretending the US can be entirely isolationist. In many respects he is a perfect balance between traditional conservatives and libertarians.  His lack of experience is some what beneficial for someone running for the number 2 post on the ticket.  He is a conservative darling and Tea Party favorite of whom no one questions his conservative convictions.  Since he ran as recently as 2008, he is highly vetted and should not be the source of unwelcome surprises.

If Rand Paul was on the ticket, libertarians of every stripe might be attracted to the GOP in a way not seen in years.  Even big “L” libertarians might even cast a vote for him. Meanwhile, the enormous and well fought Ron Paul machine would have something to campaign on. Depending on the top of the ticket, Rand could be an exceptional choice.

WMDs in Iraq - Remember the Lie

By Douglas V. Gibbs

We were told that Bush lied about the WMD in Iraq. Personally, I believe the WMD were there, but were shipped to Syria, as was professed by General Sada. The big lie about the Weapons of Mass Destruction was not perpetrated by President Bush, but by the Democrats that accused him of lying.

How convenient it was that they forgot that they too believed Hussein to have Weapons of Mass Destruction.

An Observation Of Obama's Foreign Policy

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Looking back at Obama's presidential campaign in 2008, it has come to mind how he blamed George W. Bush for making the world a more dangerous place. He continually said that America is nothing special, and as long as we act in a manner portraying that we think we are somehow exceptional, it causes the bad guys of the world to act up. Barry emphasized diplomacy. Diplomacy with Iran, without preconditions, and all of the other Muslim countries, diplomacy with Russia without worry of their past ways, and a more relaxed and humane handling of our border with Mexico.

Let us see how that worked out.

Iran has moved closer to achieving their nuclear aspirations, currently is holding operations in the Persian Gulf with their naval vessels, and has become more aggressive. Egypt is under military rule as the Muslim Brotherhood works to move Egypt into an Islamic Republic. Syria's leadership has been massacring their citizens, and the violence has spilled into Jordan. Libya now teeters on falling into the Muslim Brotherhood's hands, no different than Egypt. Iraq is destabilizing. Even with the promise of statehood, the Palestinians continue to lob missiles into Israel. Riots have erupted in Moscow as Putin tightens his hardline fist on the country, and Russia moves into a more aggressive position. North Korea has been testing missiles regularly, and now that Kim Jong Il is dead, his son is expected to do something stupid to prove his mettle. It's not like he's afraid of any retribution from the United States. As for that border with Mexico? Obama and Holder gave thousands of guns to Mexican drug gangs in the hopes of using it as an excuse to tighten gun control laws in America, and now the drug cartel's war has involved American guns, the death of American citizens (including a Border Patrol agent), and the violence is beginning to spill over to the American side of the border. In addition to that, Obama has encouraged illegal entry into the United States, which includes 1 out of 3 border crossers being of Middle Eastern descent.

Feel safer?

Obama's Poll Numbers Rise, Thanks To Manipulation of the Polls

The Gallup Poll is announcing the wondrous event of the Obama Resurrection in the Polls. His Poll Numbers, after months of continuous dismal showings, is on the rise. The democrat angels are singing, the bells are ringing, because just in time for the election year suddenly everybody is starting to love Barack Hussein Obama once again.

But there is something curious about Obama's magical rise, along with the convenient drop of the unemployment rate (also through the manipulation of the numbers). . .

- According to CNN, 59% of the people believes that Obama's policies will fail.

- Gallup recently announced that 73% of Americans believe that the out of control National Debt is to be blamed on wasteful government spending, while only 22% agrees with Obama that it is because the government is not taxing people enough.

- According to a Rasmussen Poll, 77% wants the government to cut deficits, 71% thinks the government should cut spending, and 59% wants the government to cut taxes - all in disagreement with Mr. Obama, once again.

- A CBS Poll shows that there is increasing pessimism about the direction of the U.S. economy, showing that the percentage of people that sees the economy in permanent decline has increased from 28 percent in October 2010 to 39 percent now.

- According to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News Poll, 74% of Americans believes the nation is headed in the wrong direction.

- Finally, according to our good friends at Gallup, which has been bringing you the news of Obama's recent resurgence, a poll regarding American's satisfaction with where the country is going in 2011 ranks as the second lowest since 1979, which was during Carter's disaster of a presidency. In other words, on average, only 17% of Americans this year are satisfied with national conditions, ahead of only 2008's 15%.

And Obama has been president long enough that he can't be blaming all of this on Bush.

So let me get this straight: 59% believes Obama's policies are a failure, 73% of Americans disagree with Obama and blame the national debt on his wasteful spending, 77% disagrees with Barry and is demanding we cut deficits, 71% says cut spending, and 59% says they should cut taxes - during the presidency that has increased spending the most in history and is calling for an increase in taxes, 39% believes we have passed the point of no return, 74% believes we are heading in the wrong direction, and Gallup's poll regarding how people see where the country is headed has us at only 17% satisfied. . .

Yet, Gallup is reporting that Obama is surging in the polls, and in fact has Obama at 47% approval.

Something smells rotten in Denmark, as they say, especially when you consider that the magical jump in approval is happening at the start of the campaign season.

The season of lies has begun. Let's just see how many people fall for the manipulation of the truth.

Fact is, the numbers don't add up. If 2010 was any indication, and if the numbers other than the fake ones are of any consequence, Elmer Fudd could beat Obama in a landslide next November.

Liberals lie because liberalism fails whenever it is tried, and they have to lie to stay in power.

Political Jungle Slams Liberal Lie About Millionaire Job Creators

By Jenn of the Jungle

The Anatomy Of A Democrat Lie

Oh this is RICH, pun intended.

"Harry Reid’s statement on December 6 on his proposed 1.9 percent surtax on million-dollar incomes has kicked up some dust. Here is his statement:

“Millionaire job creators are like unicorns. They’re impossible to find, and they don’t exist… Only a tiny fraction of people making more than a million dollars, probably less than 1 percent, are small business owners. And only a tiny fraction of that tiny fraction are traditional job creators…Most of these businesses are hedge fund managers or wealthy lawyers. They don’t do much hiring and they don’t need tax breaks.”

Taking their cue, National Public Radio launched a search for one millionaire job creator. They triumphantly announced:

“NPR requested help from numerous Republican congressional offices, including House and Senate leadership. They were unable to produce a single millionaire job creator for us to interview.”

Were it not for Google, I would have accepted Harry Reid’s unicorn story and NPR’s confirmation. Unlike Harry Reid’s office, I went to the IRS’s Table 1.4 “Sources of income, adjustments, and tax size of adjusted gross income, 2009” to check things out. (I summarize my sources in a separate blog posting). Here is what I found:

There are 236,883 tax filers with incomes of a million dollars or more. By Harry Reid’s count, only one percent, or 2,361 of them, are business owners, and a tiny fraction of them create jobs. I do not know what Harry means when he says “a tiny fraction of a tiny fraction.” If we let 5 percent represent Harry’s “tiny fraction,” we are left with 118 businesses owners who earn a million or more and create jobs. Yes, they are only slightly less rare than unicorns, if Harry is to be believed.

This leaves 236,765 million-dollar-plus tax payers, most of whom are “hedge fund managers and wealthy lawyers” who “don’t create jobs and don’t need tax breaks.

This is puzzling: If Harry Reid’s figure is correct (2,361 millionaire businesses), then the average millionaire-owned business earns almost a hundred million dollars, and all, except 118 of them, do this without hiring anyone. These super heroes do their own typing, selling, drafting. public relations, building, and manufacturing. They do not need employees. Remarkable!"

OH SNAP!!!! Typical leftist...lie lie lie then hope no one checks it out.

After the Presents

By Douglas V. Gibbs

This is our second Christmas without kids in the house. Our daughter moved out in November 2010. We have four grandchildren (a couple from our son who is 26, and a couple from our daughter who is 21 - both are married) and they are all a blessing.

My folks had the family get together on Christmas Eve, and Mrs. Pistachio's family invited everyone over on Christmas Day. Our children's spouse's families held their gatherings on Christmas Eve.

This is our first Christmas without a full house, the kids coming in and out, so my wife and I spent a little more time together, and the gifts were a little more treasured. She gave me some cologne and a video game I've been wanting to get for some time. Mrs. Pistachio loves chocolate, so her gifts were chock full of chocolate. I know better. Chocolate puts her in a good mood, and when mama is happy, everyone is happy. I gave her a calendar, a card that professes my love, and a CD she's been asking for as well.

We sat around listening to the CD I bought her, took a deep breath, and then realized. . . the house was empty. There was no knock at the door.

I love my children and grandkids, but an ounce of peace and quiet goes a long way.

After a few songs, I pulled the CD out and replaced it with something a little more appropriate - Praise Music.

Christmas Story of Marvelous Love

Marvelous Love

by Bill Bright
On a cold Christmas Eve in 1952, when Korea was in the throes of civil war, one young woman struggled along a village street, obviously soon to deliver a child. She pleaded with passersby,
"Help me! Please. My baby."
No one paid any attention to her.
A middle-aged couple walked by. The wife pushed away the young mother and sneered,
"Where's the father? Where's your American man now?"
The couple laughed and went on.
The young woman almost doubled up from a contraction as she watched them go.
"Please . . ." she begged.
She had heard of a missionary living nearby who might help her. Hurriedly, she began walking to that village. If only he would help her baby. Shivering and in pain, she struggled over the frozen countryside. But the night was so cold. Snow began to fall. Realizing that the time was near to deliver her baby, she took shelter under a bridge. There, alone, her baby was born on Christmas Eve.
Worried about her newborn son, she took off her own clothes, wrapped them around the baby and held him close in the warm circle of her arms.
The next day, the missionary braved the new snow to deliver Christmas packages. As he walked along, he heard the cry of a baby. He followed the sound to a bridge. Under it, he found a young mother frozen to death, still clutching her crying new born son. The missionary tenderly lifted the baby out of her arms.
When the baby was 10 years old, his now adoptive father told him the story of his mother's death on Christmas Eve.
The young boy cried, realizing the sacrifice his mother had made for him.
The next morning, the missionary rose early to find the boy's bed empty. Seeing a fresh set of small footprints in the snow outside, he bundled up warmly in a winter coat and followed the trail. It led back to the bridge where the young mother had died.
As the missionary approached the bridge, he stopped, stunned. Kneeling in the snow was his son, naked and shivering uncontrollably. His clothes lay beside him in a small pile. Moving closer, he heard the boy say through chattering teeth:
"Mother, were you this cold for me?"
That story reminds me of another mother and Son who sacrificed so much. One winter night, Jesus left his home, His glory and the warmth of heaven to be born in a stable to an unwelcome world. Just before He was born, Mary, His mother, was not welcome in any of the cozy inns in Bethlehem. Instead, she delivered her baby in the darkness of a cold stable. Th e Creator of the Universe, the Perfect Judge who could destroy the world with a single word, was willing to endure this inauspicious beginning for you and me. That is unconditional love!
We who have experienced God's unconditional love are commanded to share that love with others. John writes in 1 John 4:11,
"Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other" (New Living Translation).
God wants us to express His supernatural love to others. We become examples of God's love to the world as we love our neighbors through the enabling of His Holy Spirit.
My prayer for you is the same as Paul's prayer for the believers in Ephesians 3:17,18:
"May your roots go down deep in to the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is" (NLT ) .
You may confess, "I don't have that kind of love to share with anyone." To experience God's supernatural love, claim it by faith. We have the potential to love anyone God puts in our path. One of the greatest lessons I have learned in my Christian life is "how to love by faith."
When we by faith invite God's unconditional love to flow through us, we will discover a rekindled love that is alive and well. That is true for an "unlovable" spouse, boss, employee, or anyone.
Nothing breaks the hardened ground of unforgiveness and bitterness like sincere acts and words of love. Sometimes you and I, by faith, must take the first step of restoration. A positive response may not be immediate, but keep on loving and reaching out. There is no power on earth stronger than God's supernatural love.

Good News of Hope and Joy

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
