The founding father's reasons for protecting freedom of speech was specifically to protect political speech. Protecting political speech is one of the mechanisms in place that allows the people to fight off tyranny, and ultimately, a fascist takeover of the American Form of Government.
As the Democrats loved to say during Bush's presidency, "Dissent is Patriotic." I can still recall when Cindy Sheehan was protesting at Bush's Ranch in 2005 the response of Bush. He said something along the lines, "Isn't this a great country where you can protest against the government, and against the president, if you wish." Bush's aides said the same thing, relaying the message that, "It’s the right of the American people to peacefully express their views. The president welcomes the opinions of all Americans." Many accused President Bush of refusing to defend himself, and that is why the Left was able to convince the people to hate Bush. But, I don't think Bush necessarily refused to defend himself, as much as he believed it was the American People's right to disagree with him, and protest, and change the leadership in the next election should that be the case.
Great men recognize the right of the American People to disagree with a politician's agenda.
Barack Obama believes the opposite. He believes that anyone daring to disagree must be shut up, and be reported to the government by other citizens.
Sound fascist enough for you yet?
In the recent past dissent has been met with the Democrats issuing a Homeland Security report proclaiming that people who support ideas different than the ruling faction in Washington DC to be extremists and Domestic Terrorists.
Now, if you dare disagree with Obama's Health Care plan you are spreading misinformation, and Barack Obama is urging Americans to turn in anyone daring to publish such "anti-government" opinions.
That is right, President Barack Obama has now not only decided that he can trample all over the First Amendment, but wishes Americans to report dissenting views "If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy."
What are they going to do? Are they going to lock me up because I believe Obama's health care policies will lead to the destruction of the private industry? Will they send me to a re-education facility to straighten me out if I dare think the Democrat's universal health care policies will eliminate private coverage and force older people to accept euthanasia so that they are no longer a burden on the government's definition of what the greater good is? Are they going to show up at my doorstep and drag me off because I believe what they want with Obama's health care plan is Marxist, and is one of the policies that will spell the downfall of this nation?
Come on, Obama! Prove how fascist you truly are and come and get me!
And he plans to get his Nationalization of the Health Care Industry bill passed, no matter what it takes, with or without the support of the GOP, and he wants to do it quickly.
So much for being a bi-partisan President. As for the speed, he wants to institutionalize communist style health care before it can be stopped by the likes of us Conservatives, knowing that once it is in place, it will be nearly impossible to repeal.
