Memory of September 11 Attacks Burns On

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The September 11 attacks on America happened eight years ago. Long enough ago that the young adults in America can't quite remember what happened that day, or at least were too young in 2001 to fully understand the significance of 9/11.

Unfortunately, those of us that are supposed to remember, have forgotten too. The memory of 9/11 is not being passed to the next generation.

Americans have ceased to see the connection between Afghanistan and al-Qaeda, and support for the war in Afghanistan, or any war against Islamic terrorism, is rapidly losing support.

The President of the United States, Barack Obama, chose to remember the lost souls of 9/11, by declaring it the National Day of Service.

What a show of disrespect to the dead.

On the day of remembrance, he wants it to be a day of service to the state?

I suppose such things come naturally to statists.

The Obama family showed their respect for the memory of 9/11 by painting a room at Habitat for Humanity.

Barack Obama fails to recognize that the September 11 attacks were an act of war. Islamic Fascism, using the radicals of the Muslim Jihad, declared war on the United States.

Instead of recognizing the attacks as an act of war, the Left sees it as a criminal action. Some of these people even believe that the U.S. Government staged the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Obama blames America for the attacks. He saw the act of war on America as being America's fault. We brought it on ourselves. And now Obama is doing whatever he can to demoralize those who fought to keep us free, and shroud the memory of the day the towers fell.

As Ralph Peters of the New York Post so wisely writes, Obama is "betraying our dead."

I, for one, shall never forget - and I am ashamed of the President of the United States. As one of my listeners said in the chat room of the Political Pistachio Radio Revolution, this 9/11 seems strange. It is the first time I feel like the U.S. Government is not doing everything it can to keep this nation protected.
