Cash for Caulkers: The Search For Weatherization Jobs

By Douglas V. Gibbs

People weatherize their homes already, and they do it to save on energy costs, and keep their homes from getting too warm or too cold during the extreme parts of the seasons. In most cases, though the leftist elitists would not realize this because they don't know a caulking gun from a spackling knife, people do the work themselves.

Obama's plan, of course, is for the government to help pay for people to weatherize their home. This means, with the leftist's plan, you will be paying for others to weatherize their homes. Rather than do the work themselves they will use the system Obama and his freakish radical leftist Democrats put into place.

Weatherizing your home is something you should decide to do for yourself. We don't need government determining for us it must be done, and then using tax dollars to make sure it happens. The program will cost $23 billion of money we don't have over two years to ensure you do what you ought to decide on your own.

Obama says new jobs will be created with this latest hair-brained idea. You know, more jobs by the government paying for something people normally do themselves. And then, what happens once all the homes are weatherized. Then what?

How are the Democrats going to pay for the program, and all of the other programs, they have in store for us? They can only drive up a deficit for so long before they realize they will need to raise taxes - and they will raise taxes on everyone, including that 95% of people Obama swore was getting tax cuts. They are going to make it impossible for businesses to grow, and for the average person to live.

How does an economy improve in a nightmarish world like that?

Realize this is not stimulus money, it is new appropriation money. It is more spending. We cannot borrow and spend like this, and expect our economy to survive.

Jobs are continuing to be lost, and the economy is continuing to tank, and now the idiots in the White House and Congress want to pay you to do something you ought to be doing anyway with weatherizing your home. It is senseless.

Rather than spending more, we need to bring down the deficit through cutting our spending drastically, and encourage businesses to grow by cutting taxes and drawing back over regulation.

You should never throw good money after bad money, yet the government seems to think that's the way to save us. The government is destroying jobs, destroying the economy, and coming up with brainless scheme after brainless scheme to further deepen our downward spiral into becoming just another failed socialist state led by Marxists hungering for absolute power.
