All the Hub-Bub Over The Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad

By Douglas V. Gibbs

As the big game approached I heard a lot of complaining by the pro-abortion crowd over a Tim Tebow ad that was going to play during the Super Bowl that essentially celebrated the choice of Tim's mom to keep him in her womb during her difficult pregnancy with him.

Apparently "choice" by the pro-choice crowd shouldn't include the "choice" to not have an abortion.

The FCC's worries over indecent programming apparently includes the horribly disgusting talk about saving babies from the horrors of abortion, and then [gasp] raising these children up to be wonderful human beings that are thankful their mothers decided not to abort them.

The horror of it all!

Not surprisingly, the National Organization of Women (NOW), made a big stink over the content of the 2010 Super Bowl ad that had Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow, and his mom, tell in a celebratory way their life affirming story. Tim's mother, Pam, decided to choose life for her son Tim despite doctors’ recommendations to abort him. Such a choice has caused great anger among those who say they support choice.

Confused yet?

If the pro-abortion crowd really was in the fight to defend a woman's choice, they would support a woman's choice to keep her child as well. Clearly, NOW, and the rest of the pro-choice advocates, are not in the fight regarding abortion because of "choice." They could care less about a woman's choice. They care only about promoting abortion. If they truly cared about a woman's choice, they wouldn't have freaked out over an ad celebrating the life of a potential abortion victim.

Like all liberal positions, the true issue is not the issue itself, but the agenda behind it. Pro-choice is not about choice any more than health care legislation is about health care, or that gay marriage is about marriage, or that sticking it to the rich in the form of heavy taxation is about fairness and building an economy. After all of the dust clears, leftism is all about agendas. And when leftism grabs hold of an agenda, their goal is simple. Push the agenda, get the agenda passed (regardless of the people's opinion, and even if it means paying off politicians to get it to pass), and silence the opposition any way they can.

The crap that is on television in this day and age continuously demeans women, and that kind of programming doesn't even get a second look by NOW because their agenda is not about protecting women, or children. Think about it. Made-for-TV movies depicting the rape of children, or sex outside of marriage, or glorifying prostitution does not concern people like the members of NOW, but a woman's choice to allow her unborn child to live does. How insane is that? And despite the idiotic opposition, and the attempt to vilify the message of "family" by The Left, I hope that the Tim Tebow story touched a number of people, and convinced young women contemplating abortion to respect life, and let their babies live.
