For Kucinich on Health Care it is Single-Payer Socialism, or Nothing

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is a no vote for the health care bill, according to his interview last night on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. For Kucinich, however, the decision to vote against Obama's precious health care legislation is not because he believes government hijacking a private industry is dangerous, or because he realizes this kind of legislation is exactly what was dreamed of by the Soviets, Nazis, and socialists. Kucinich believes the health care legislation compromises too much, and is not liberal enough. Kucinich wants the public option, universal health care, socialized medicine, single-payer to be the law of the land.

The host in the above video tried to make Kucinich feel guilty. Do you want to be the vote that stops health care reform, he asked . . . Kucinich quickly replied that this is not reform, it is a bail out for the insurance companies.

Whether it is the hard left version Kucinich wants, or the watered down version Obama is pushing at this moment, one thing is for sure, the federal government has no business being involved in the private matter of health care. And these corrupt Democrats want it so bad they are willing to threaten and bribe their own party members for it. If it is such a good deal, why the dirty political tactics? Why the payoffs? If this is what the people needs so badly, why is the idea of a change in the health care system so unpopular with the American People?

Besides, these people don't even know all of the details of what is in this bill. They sure as hell haven't read it. What little information on the legislation that has leaked out is atrocious, and extremely damaging to the future of America. If what has leaked is so bad, I can only imagine what dark secrets inhabit the far dark corners of this monstrosity.

Even Pelosi has admitted that we don't know all that is in the bill!

And I quote: "We have to pass the health care bill so that you can find out what is in it." - Nancy Pelosi

And if I hear another leftist proclaim that health care is a right, I am going to pop a cork! Health care is not a right, it is a responsibility. In fact, it is a product! Rights don't have price tags. Your right to life, free speech, freedom of religion, or whatever else you can think of, does not come with a price tag. Products, however, do come with price tags. And guess what? Health Care, Health Insurance, Medicine, and all of the rest of the stuff that accompanies it costs money! It is a product, and it is your responsibility to ensure you can afford the product! What's next? Is groceries going to become a right? Owning a home? Owning a car? Is the government going to start buying people televisions? Where does it stop?

Self-reliance and personal responsibility.
