Blagojevich Trial Raises Questions, But Not About Obama

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Obama is off the hook, and so is Illinois Governor Rod Blagoyevich - sort of. Blago was found not guilty on all but one of the 23 counts. Chicago corruption pays, I suppose, at the cost of millions of dollars of taxpayer money.

And Obama's inner circle is left unscathed.

After deliberating for 14 days, the jury found Mr. Blagojevich guilty of a single criminal count — making false statements to the F.B.I., which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, one of the least severe penalties in the charges against him.

Blagojevich’s former Chief of Staff John Harris testified that President Obama had personal knowledge of Blagojevich’s scheme to get his hands on a presidential cabinet position by appointing a candidate handpicked by the president to take over Obama’s former Senate seat.

But Obama remains untouched.

And Blago was found guilty of only one count.

I don't know, it just seems too good for the powers that be. . .

Was the fix in?

Federal prosecutors have promised to retry the case. Perhaps the truth will come out in the second go-round.

The excrement has yet to hit the rotating oscillator. . .
