Building Mosques and Burning Korans

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Every time the argument regarding the mosque in New York comes up I keep hearing the same response: The Muslims have a right to build it.

In the discussions I have had about the church in Florida that plans to burn copies of the Koran on 9/11, the same argument is used: They have a right to burn them.

I am not disputing either.

But the response I am giving actually goes back to the same advice we were given by our mothers when we were young. Do you remember?

"Just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should."
