The Overthrow of America

By Douglas V. Gibbs

We are witnessing threats to our American system on all fronts. There will always be forces committed to taking away our God-given rights and liberties. Right now, however, the political enemies of the United States Constitution are even worse than the external threat of terrorism, for it is The Left that is willing to pave the way for the terrorists to destroy us from within.

After November, when the Republicans score a huge victory against the Democrats that will even dwarf the win in 1994, it will not be time to rest. The political enemies of the Constitution never rest, therefore we must not rest either. We must make every effort to recognize, understand, and combat the enemies of the liberty given to us by our God, and our constitutional republic. Following November we must hold accountable the members of both parties. We must protect ourselves from allowing the government politicians of transforming this nation into a socialist state, because as we've seen in Europe, socialist states are unable to protect themselves from the invading force of Islam.

The question of the hour is do we find the answer to freedom in the wisdom of the U.S. Constitution? Or is it our destiny to sink into slavery under socialism, and then ultimately Islamism?

Some folks tell me we are fighting a war of principles. I said that is impossible, because I believe the enemy of the Constitution has no principles. A listener to the Political Pistachio Radio Revolution disagrees. He said they do have principles. But the principles of the Left are control, destruction, and statism. Regardless, in the end, this is a war between right and wrong, liberty and slavery, good and evil.

We can't be all things to all people as this administration claimed it would be during the 2008 campaign. We must represent specific fundamental beliefs. We must not compromise, we must not waver, we must not abandon the constitutional principles of a limited government that this nation was founded upon. We must have the courage to stand up for our convictions, instead of pandering, and appeasing, those who would destroy us. We must be bold, definitive, and steadfast in our defense of the limiting principles of the U.S. Constitution.

The Constitution was written the way it was, dividing power, full of checks and balances, and limiting the authorities of the federal government because the framers of the document clearly understood man's fallen nature. They crafted our government with branches, state sovereignty, and a separation of voting powers that pitted each part of the system against each other in a manner similar to the free market system. The parts of our governmental system compete against each other, making them constrain each other, preventing any part of government from acquiring too much power. That was the best way to protect liberty. Give government only the powers necessary to govern, and then divide the power as much as possible.

Over time the system has been adjusted and tweaked away from the limiting principles of the Constitution, softening and blurring the original intent of the Founding Fathers. The erosion of the checks on power has led us to this point in history. The structural integrity of the Constitution has been compromised, and it is up to "We The People" to send us back in the direction of the long journey of righting this ship.

We are all in a raft heading down a river to Niagra Falls, and the current government says that the roar you hear in the distance is the sound of recovery. We know, however, that what we hear in the distance is destruction. We have to turn this great raft around. The question is, are you willing to grab an oar? Are you willing to grab that great paddle called the U.S. Constitution and help direct this great nation back in the right direction? If we don't get involved, if we don't demand liberty, we will go right over the falls with the rest of them, and America will cease to be that shining beacon on the hill.

I, my friends, am an optimist. I believe in the Constitution, and I believe in you. Grab and oar. It's time to row.
