Sarah Palin's Gun Sights

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Since the shooting in Tucson my prayers have been with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, her family, and all of those people who are close to her. My prayers also go out to Dallas Green's family, and Green's 9 year old granddaughter, who died in the massacre. She was born on September 11, 2001. My prayers also go out to the Bush appointed federal judge that died in the shooting, as well as the staffers, and all of the other victims.

The despicable act of violence by Jared Loughner was a twisted result of an unstable mind. The liberal left, however, disagrees.

The liberal left has blamed Sarah Palin's website because of crosshair targets on Democrat districts, Glenn Beck for disagreeing with them, and the Tea Party for holding peaceful rallies that also disagreed with the liberal agenda.

This, the left says, incited violence. A crosshair graphic on Palin's website that Loughner has probably never seen, caused him to pull the trigger. The political rhetoric of The Right, according to the media and the liberals, was the fuel for murder.

According to the liberal left. . .

Violence in video games, movies, on television, and in music does not incite violence. Effigies of Bush with a noose around his throat does not incite violence. A movie that depicted the assassination of Bush does not incite violence. The president of the United States saying his party brings a gun to a knife fight, or that his supporters should punish their enemies, does not incite violence. Bill Maher wishing Rush Limbaugh had died instead of Heath Ledger does not incite violence. Chris Matthews wishing for someone to jam a CO2 pellet into Rush Limbaugh's head does not incite violence. Liberal journalist Courtland Milloy saying of the Tea Party that he would like to spit on them, and knock every racist and homophobic tooth out of their Cro-Magnon heads does not incite violence. The hate and vitriol put out by the Left does not incite violence. . . but disagreeing with the liberal agenda, and putting a crosshairs graphic on a website does.

The liberal left has shown that they are political agitators, and political opportunists who are even willing to use a tragic event, such as the Giffords shooting, to shut down the opposition. This makes these liberals sick and twisted, and the ones that are truly guilty of pushing divisive political rhetoric.

Disgusting.

Conservatives ALWAYS say they don't condone violence. Well, of course they say that. No one in their right mind is going to come out and say the guy did the right thing.

But words have consequences. And conservative keep using inflammatory rhetoric to stir up their base. And stir it up they do. And occasionally a piece of shit like this guy rises to the top and kills someone. Just like the get away driver is equally responsible when his fellow bank robbers kill someone in an attempted bank robbery, conservative are equally responsible when someone gets killed because of their inflammatory rhetoric.

Why do you think Palin took down her target list, her congresspersons in the crosshairs, as soon as this happened? She is one of the "get away drivers"; she, Beck, Limbaugh, and the whole rest of those aholes!

Palin took down the crosshairs not as a show of guilt, but to appease the leftists on the prowl. Now, for a moment, let's just entertain your argument. How did the right fuel the shooter's decision to commit murder? According to his high school friends, he is a leftist. He has indicated his favorite writings are the communist manifesto, and Mein Kampf, which are leftist writings. So, I doubt he listened to Rush, watched Beck (or Fox News for that matter), nor ever visited Palin's website. In fact, news has it that he was upset with Giffords in 2007, before the Tea Party existed, before Palin was on the national scene, and shortly after the left had used even more inflammatory rhetoric in their "hate Bush" campaign. So, please tell me, how did the right wing pull the trigger of a gun in the hand of a nutcase, leftist, communist punk kid who had it out for Giffords before Obama even ran for president, and the "rightwing rhetoric" against him rose up? How?

Doug,

I wrote something about this on my blog just this evening.

It's a shame that journalists can no longer be trusted to present the facts.
