Gas Prices Rise, Media Reports Lightly

By Douglas V. Gibbs

When gas prices rose up during the Bush administration, the media made sure we knew it was Bush's fault many times per minute. Now that the same is going on under the watchful eye of Obama, not a peep. . . except when they can blame it on the turmoil in Libya.

In all honesty, Obama hasn't even said much about it, but that is because he desires that we all be forced into accepting the unproven idea of green technology.

Problem is, green not only doesn't make sense, but it is the new red. . . control of the population through energy regulation.

Locally, here in California, $4.00 a gallon is becoming a reality once again. As a trucker, that means less money in my paycheck, and a rise in the cost to do business. This rise in cost will then be transferred to the cost of building new structures, performing construction work such as new roads and underground work, and increase the cost of goods such as food and the other necessities of life.

Everything we consume is going to become more expensive because of the rising cost of fuel. This will force Americans to cut even more of their discretionary income to pay for fuel, which will create more disruption in our already struggling economy, and force consumers to spend less on other goods and products.

It is interesting, too, when you realize that liberal leftists tend to be believers that consumerism alone is necessary to turn this economy around, yet are perfectly fine (since Bush is no longer in office) with the rising cost of oil.

American liberals are fine with it because they really don't care about the economy. The progressive drive is over agenda, and their agenda is better served if there are higher gas prices.

The problem here is that America has vast resources. There is no reason for us to be held hostage, if the media is correct about the root cause of rising fuel prices, by the happenings across the ocean. Thanks to liberalism, we are now not allowed to access our domestic resources, and as a result we import two thirds of our oil.

We need to immediately begin drilling for oil in all available areas domestically. Not only do we have massive oil reserves off the coasts of this country, but also within our interior. From Texas to the Dakotas, we have massive oil reserves. And that is not even taking into consideration Alaska.

So, why aren’t we drilling?

Ask your neighborhood leftist environmental whacko about that one.

However, drilling is not enough. We also need more refineries. The last refinery in the United States was built in 1976. No new refineries have been built because every time a company proposes to build one, the environmentalists attack with law suits, costing millions of dollars in legal fees, and stopping the construction of any new equipment. And that is not even considering the regulations imposed by the massive federal bureaucracy that must be dealt with.

As a result, failing to drill our own oil, and the refinery shortage, is a significant factor in driving up prices.

In addition to the drop in oil prices, which in turn would lower gas prices, drilling domestically, and constructing new refineries, would result in the immediate creation of jobs around this nation.

Could it be the fact that it is red states that would benefit that is holding back Obama and his hard left Democrat cronies?

That also means that Congress needs begin to finally do its job by doing things like stripping the federal courts of the ability to issue injunctions to stop the construction of these facilities.

High gas prices, any way you cut it, is a crisis that is not good for the economy. The rapid rise of gas prices will send us into economic meltdown - something this country just can't afford.

I just have to note here. Once again today, one of Comrade Obama's "experts" claimed the rising fele prices will have little or no effect on the economy. These people are so secure in their lies that they now openly throw it in our faces!
7 businesses here in Las Vegas closed on the route I take to work each day. 7 in less than 2 weeks! and these lying bastards tell us not to worry!
