Scott Walker's Win is a Win For America

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The dust has settled, and the Democrats are coming home to Wisconsin from Illinois. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has won, and the unions are up against the ropes. In the end, the big winner will be Wisconsin's budget, and America. . . should other governors follow suit.

Union thuggery has walked away. The outside protesters that came in on buses from other states have gone home. The leftists, however, are not finished. In round 2, they are working on petitions to recall the GOP.

Sanity won out. Insanity is working to use a recall vote as a last ditch effort.

The protesters claimed they marched for freedom, while trying to prevent people from having a choice to join a union, or not, in order to teach in public schools. While crying out for freedom and democracy, the protesters were the voice of the public sector unions, working to force their members to pay dues, whether they want to belong to the union or not.

Watching the protests in Wisconsin, watching the leftists forcing their way past guards to get into the capitol, watching the violence and hearing the profanity, it reminded me more of a temper tantrum, than a protest. And as the leftist media was proclaiming that Walker was about to cave, he stood firm, and made the legislation happen.

This is the kind of reserve Republicans are supposed to show. This is the kind of backbone it takes to defeat liberalism.

When Conservatives stand true, the leftists expose themselves for who they are: whining, crying, tantrum throwing, spittle flecked, screaming, offensive nothings.

Expect the Democrats to do what they do best when they lose: Act like they are moving to the center, and launching personal attacks.

After all, for the Left, losing is not acceptable, because they are believers in an ideology that strives to maintain an authoritarian style control over the populace. And that kind of insanity does not give up easily.

Despite all of the shouting by the pro-union leftists, we have to remember that the truth is that Governor Walker was trying to save jobs. He was trying to prevent people from being laid off. That is what the Left is hoping for. This is why they tried to stop the limits on collective bargaining. Not only because they fail to realize the public sector unions are a conflict of interest when it comes to their relationship with government, and Democrats, but also because if Walker lays off employees, it will give them something else to rail about, shout about, and attack about.

The leftist strategy never changes. They launch authoritarian policies, and when they face set-backs, they denigrate and vilify the opposition until they gain momentum again.

This, however, is a situation they can't win. The populace is informed, and the need to cut spending is paramount. Governor Walker won, and common sense is winning. And one must remember that Walker is taking victory in the State of Wisconsin. . . a state that is traditionally liberal.

The victory does not stop in Wisconsin. If this kind of victory can happen in Wisconsin, it can happen anywhere. It can, and it will. These battles will continue, and they will increase, and the Republicans will continue to win them, across the nation.
