Obama implored Congress to pass his new jobs bill, as if the problem is Congress, and he has the answer to it all. His answer, however, was not what I expected. It was not his usual idiocy. It was worse.
President Obama claimed that his deal has things in it that both parties should like. Problem is, he doesn't understand conservatism, so what he proposes, despite what he thinks, is far from what the GOP wants. It's like a non-hunter trying to make a hunter happy by supplying him with a BB gun, and tomatoes to hunt.
Tax credits? Tax relief? Wasn't this the guy that was talking about tax hikes? Besides, his tax cuts are not tax cuts. They are offers of tax breaks if somebody jumps a hoop that costs them more than anything they'd get out of the tax credit.
Real tax cuts are permanent tax rate reductions all the way across the board.
Obama also cried about the unfairness of the current tax code, which means he doesn't think the producers of the country should get any tax breaks. He said he wants everyone to pay their fair share. Okay, if you really mean that, Mr. Obama, then how about undoing the tax code provisions that enables 47% of the country not to pay taxes at all? The top 10% pays the majority of the taxes, and the bottom half pays nothing. Fair share?
Personally, I think the only fair way to do this is to cut all government spending to only Constitutionally authorized spending, and then repealing the 16th Amendment. . . but that's just me.
Reduce taxes, reduce spending, and then reduce regulations against the producers of this nation, and then you'll see a turn around in the economy.
Obama also claimed he had a deficit reduction program in his plan. Deficit reduction? From the guy that has increased the deficit more than all presidents in history, combined? That's like Ronald McDonald claiming to be a vegetarian member of PETA, and doing what he can to reduce the killing of cows for meat. . . as he puts together another double cheeseburger.
He also called for extending unemployment benefits, again. In other words, give people yet another reason not to look for a job. Are you kidding me? Did he not learn from the last time they stupidly extended this turkey? Unemployment is becoming an entitlement no different than welfare!
Then he tried to lay it on Republicans that if they don't pass this, it is against the country's best interest.
It is against the country's best interest if they do pass it! This bill is more destruction. We have seen the results of liberal destruction over the past three years, and Obama wants to double down on failed policies? Are you kidding me?
The cost of his plan that he claims is paid for? $450 billion.
I am willing to bet the real price tag is in the trillions.
Then Obama invoked Lincoln, who set a precedent for presidents acting in an unconstitutional manner.
Of course Obama idolizes Lincoln. Lincoln may have held together the union, but he sent hundreds of thousands to their death in a war of northern aggression, and spit on the Constitution along the way. Yes, of course Obama idolizes Lincoln.
Obama said during his speech, "Tonight we meet at an urgent time for our country. We continue to face an economic crisis that has left millions of our neighbors jobless, and a political crisis that has made things worse."
Wait, I thought these idiots told us the recession is officially over? Which is it, Obama? And what political crisis? Is he saying there should be no debate? Should the legislature just lay down and do as he says? Those are the words of a dictator.
Oh, wait, that's right, it's Bush's fault, the tsunami's fault, the earthquake's fault, the GOP's obstructionist action's fault (even though they had no vote until this year). . .
He also said the public is disgusted with Washington politics.
Yes, there, Mr. Obama, you are right. But the ring leader of Washington politics is you, you idiot.
If Congress has any love for this country, and wants us to survive the destructive policies of the leftist democrats, they will shoot down this piece of crap offer by Obama as quickly as they can.
The bill will not put people back to work, it will cause more jobs to be lost. Government cannot create jobs, only the private sector can, which means less government influence is necessary for that to happen.
The uncertainty, and anti-business politics of Obama, is destroying our private sector. The free market is the key, and that can only be reached by reducing spending, reducing the tax rate for all Americans, and reducing the regulations against businesses.
Obama is also offering in his bill public works projects. The same kind that James Madison vetoed for being unconstitutional in 1817, the same kind Hoover put in place right before the Great Depression, and the same kind that Roosevelt put into place while he stretched out the suffering of the Great Depression another seven years.
The bill also called for work on our schools, to modernize the system. All the money that has been thrown into the school system as not made the system better. The problem is not the buildings, or whether or not the schools are modernized. The problem is the curriculum, the leftist influence on the schools, and the fact that the federal government has poked its unconstitutional nose into the school system in the first place.
Obama admitted changes needs to be made to Medicare, as well. But we already had a bill that proposed changes to Medicare with Paul Ryan's plan - and the democrats demonized that bill. Yet, suddenly, it's a good idea because Obama offers the idea?
Obama also indicated he had ideas for reforming the corporate tax code - which means he has ideas to change the code so he can suck more money out of the producers in this nation. Productivity declines as the tax rate increases, or as more taxes are sucked out of people by a change in the tax code. As a result, people choose to work less. The higher the tax burden, the more time people spend evading taxes and the less time they spend on more productive activity. So if he wants to change the tax code so that he can increase the tax burden on the producers of this nation, in the end jobs will be lost, businesses will go under, and the value of all the goods and services produced will go higher.
How about eliminating the capital gains tax? I guarantee that will get the economy moving.
Obama doesn't want the tax code to benefit the wealthiest corporations. Oh, yeah, these companies are saying to themselves, "If only Obama would screw us on taxes, then we'll start hiring." Of course he'll give bail outs and stimulus to his favorite corporations. That is how mercantilists work.
As for Obama's claim that he disagrees with reducing collective bargaining to get a hold of spending and the economic outlook, how about looking at the success such a move is having in Wisconsin. Oh, wait, that's right, the truth and the facts means nothing to these liberal morons.
Once again, the government does not create jobs, nor does it create wealth. That happens in the private sector, where nothing is going on because the federal government has the private sector by the throat (or is it a boot on their throat?). And what does Obama offer? Tightening the grip!
History proves that a reduction in taxes and regulations creates prosperity. It happened for Harding and Coolidge, and it happened for Reagan.
The truth is, Obama does not wish to improve our economy. He hopes to change it to a European style socialist failure.
Keep the hope and change. I'll take good ol' American determination, self-reliance, and our proven free market. Now that, my friends, is the recipe for success.
