Iran Plot to Assassinate Saudi Diplomat on American Soil

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The plot was to drive an SUV filled with explosives up to a restaurant and blow it up (and hit a couple embassies). The target? Saudi Ambassador Adel Al-Jubeir. The suspect? Manssor Arbabsiar, a 56-year-old U.S. citizen who also holds an Iranian passport. That Iranian passport led the American authorities to suggest that Iran had something to do with the assassination attempt, and of course Iran denied all involvement.

The belief that Iran was behind the assassination plot has led the White House to call for strong actions against Iran. This, coming from a President who, during his campaign, tried to convince us that sweet negotiations without pre-conditions was all we needed to get along with Iran.

Iran is an Islamic nation with a blood thirsty oligarchy leading the nation. The madness is a mixed bag of political statism and theocratic religious fervor. Iran cannot be trusted, and the reality of that may finally be slowly seeping into the skulls of the liberal left democrats that have been in charge of our government for the past few years.

. . . but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

The leftist politicians in Washington worry about how to handle this. On one hand, they need to deal with Iran, but on the other hand they worry that if they rapidly push for tougher sanctions on Tehran, it could increase regional tensions. In other words, they are afraid they might make the mean ol' terrorists mad. After all, reason liberals, it's all our fault they hate us.

Iran is testing your mettle, Obama, and so far they have learned they can push pretty far. Terror attacks on our soil, sponsored by Iran, may be ready to be initiated in rapid succession real soon.

Iran could care less about sanctions. They are already heavily sanctioned. Ahmadinejad simply uses any actions against Iran as propaganda, and as an excuse to conduct more Muslim madness. And you are damned-straight that Ayatollah Ali Khamanei knew of the alleged plot to kill Saudi Arabia's ambassador in Washington, and though President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claims he did not, I am willing to bet he was one of the puppet masters in the plot.

Why do the liberals continue to underestimate the Islamic resolve to kill whoever they consider their enemy at any time while lying about it and calling for sympathy on the supposed mistreatment of them by the big bad Satan of the West?

The Iranian leaders knew of the plan, funded the plan, and orchestrated the plan to kill the Saudi diplomat, and they had no qualms about doing it on American soil. In fact, the chance to pull something off like this in the United States probably sent a shiver of joy up their legs.

The attempt included Arbabsiar approaching who he thought was a Mexican drug cartel figure to carry this out.

And we still don't secure the border? Remember, in San Diego, one in three of the illegal aliens that cross the border are of Middle Eastern descent.

The Mexican drug cartel figure that Arbabsiar contacted turned out of be an undercover DEA agent.

U.S. officials say that the evidence linking the affair to Iran and the Quds Force, the covert operations arm of Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is pretty strong.

"You have a clear case of a plot to assassinate a diplomat in the United States that is tied back into the senior levels of the Iranian Quds force. So the facts themselves demonstrate the seriousness of the issue," said White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes.

There has been some questions about how the Obama administration went public with the alleged plot, including a news conference by Attorney General Eric Holder (you know, the guy that has his hands all over the Fast and Furious scandal where he was making sure the drug gangs in Mexico got heavily armed with American guns). But you know how Obama is. Anytime he thinks he does something good, the narcissist has to beat his chest as quickly as possible. There is an election coming up, after all.

They're in a re-election mode and have to make sure that they sound tough on Iran, while also trying to be careful not to piss off Iran too much.

Tight rope walking can be a real pain.

It's like watching one of my grandchildren pushing the limits before they get in trouble.

Should military force be used? The White House has not indicated that it will respond with military force, and we know that the democrats wouldn't use military force if the situation calls for it. They would rather use military force in places where it is completely idiotic to do so, like Bosnia, Libya, and Uganda.

One thing is for sure: We are hearing a lot of different opinions coming out of the democrat camp in Washington, which reveals division within an administration that has always claimed it has unprecedented unity.

Okay, so we know Obama won't take any actions beyond sanctions, but the question is will their aggressive [cough] U.S. diplomatic strategy to confront Iran, which includes demanding more sanctions on Iran, be enough?

Don't count on it. The powder keg is on the verge of exploding, and we have children running in circles in the White House. The Three Stooges would run this situation better than these buffoons.

Obama has said that he plans to press for the "toughest sanctions" possible against Iran. One target considered may be Iran's already heavily sanctioned transportation sector.

Hillary Clinton was hoping that because of this other nations will now be compelled to enforce existing sanctions more stringently.

Oh, by the way, the evidence that Iran is behind all this includes information regarding wire transfers that were personally approved by Major General Qasem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force. You know, we tapped into bank transactions using allowances by the Patriot Act that these same people railed against during the Bush administration.

Personally, I believe that Iran conducting an assassination attempt, and planned attack on two embassies in Washington DC, on U.S. Soil is an Act of War, and if this administration had any sense, they would act accordingly. . . but they won't. They wish to ignore state-sponsored terrorism, and blame the United States for bringing it upon themselves, instead.

I suppose you could say that President Obama agrees with his favorite anti-American pastor, the illustrious Reverend Wright. . . "America's chickens have come home to roost."
