Agenda 21 Not a Conspiracy Theory

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The International Leftists are working to take away your rights, and your freedoms, as individuals through a policy known as Agenda 21. The politicians at the federal level, state level, and local level have just about all bought into this devious international plot to destroy American sovereignty. Your local governmental officials will deny being a part of it, but their actions say otherwise.

Agenda 21 is about individual choice. Your choices are on the chopping block, and without choices we lose liberty.

The globalists behind Agenda 21 want you out of your car and into public transportation, want to take away your choice on where to live and how your community functions, and they would like to cram the population into denser neighborhoods so that the people can be more easily controlled. . . in the name of saving the planet.

In other words, Agenda 21 is the brain child of radical environmentalists.

The United Nation's Agenda 21 is a nefarious policy that few know of, and it hasn't really gotten any widespread attention until a recent Republican presidential debate. The plan called Agenda 21 was adopted at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, and currently it is considered a voluntary plan. It calls on governments to intervene and regulate nearly every potential impact that human activity could have on the environment. In other words, government should be involved in every activity committed by people so as to save the planet from the man-made climate change hoax.

The plan claims to have wonderful intentions. Who can argue that we must halt the destruction of irreplaceable natural resources, or halt the incredible pollution of the planet? To achieve these ends, the United Nations, through Agenda 21, is trying to get governments to “rethink economic development." In order to make it work, the agenda must be a "comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment.” That includes hundreds of specific goals and strategies that national and local governments are encouraged to adopt. And that translates into restrictive zoning policies that are aimed at deterring suburban growth, and limiting individual decision making by all governments, without first adhering to the requirements of the global body.

In the end, what Agenda 21 means is a suppression of the housing supply, which would drive home prices skyward, and in turn impose unnecessary costs, especially on what the Occupy folks would call the 99%. In addition to the liberal model of "homes for all" through ridiculous policies like the "Community Reinvestment Act," Agenda 21 served to contribute to, and aggravate, the real estate bubble by putting inflationary pressures on housing prices.

Agenda 21, however, is considered voluntary. In other words, it is not binding. Yet, locally the anti-growth policies are marching in lockstep with the U.N.'s agenda.

The danger is that while we focus on the globalists, our own local people are doing the work of Agenda 21. Homegrown "smart-growth" policies are in action, and have been since the early 1970s. They are designed to give adherence to the wishes of the radical environmentalists, while undermining the quality of life, personal choice, and property rights in American communities. Your local, state, and federal authorities are implementing these policies at the behest of environmental groups and other vested interests, without as much as sending a post card in your direction to let you know.

In the United States the idea filled with all of the good intentions on Earth is working to deter suburban growth for all, except for those with lots of money and political power.

Hmmm, sounding tyrannical yet?

As the policies begin to impact deeper into our localities, and become more prevalent and restrictive, their impact on housing prices and construction increase. An explosion of exclusionary zoning throughout the U.S. encouraged many communities to adopt zoning policies to ensure that they maintained a certain demographic ‘profile.’ In other words, this zoning encouraged low income housing in the hearts of the cities, while limiting middle real estate development, and unleashing real estate development to higher-cost homes in order to ‘price out’ moderate-income households. Talk about widening the gap between the poor and the rich!

And surprise, surprise: The Obama Administration has embraced Agenda 21's policies by increasing environmental regulations and restrictions on the use of natural resources. But remember, it isn't just at the federal level that this madness is happening. The smart-growth movement is spread throughout our local and state governments, as well. Local and state officials, along with interest groups, are promoting the policies at all levels of government, and then when you ask them directly, they tell you, "Nah, we are not participating in Agenda 21."

Their version of Islam's Taqiyya, I suppose.

To stop the madness, we must start at the local level. If we can stand against the implementation of Agenda 21 at the local level, and stop it, the threat will also be stopped at the national level.

In other words, be involved, be proactive, and do what you can to protect your own backyards against the threat of Agenda 21.
