Remember how last October the Obama administration decided to hand over federal funding to a Finnish electric car company? Fisker motors received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee for assembling their first line of cars in Finland. Biden claimed it would ensure thousands of American jobs down the road, but the start was slow, and no jobs appeared.
Now, the bad decision has become apparent. Fisker Automotive is recalling all 239 of its 2012 Karma luxury plug-in hybrid cars because of a fire hazard, a common problem, it seems, when it comes to these "green technology" electric vehicles.
Federal Government involvement in auto-making blunders doesn't stop there. Remember how the federal government has stuck their nose into General Motors? Well, GM is recalling almost 4,300 of its new 2012 Chevrolet Sonics because they might be missing “the front brake inner or outer pad.”
It turns out the brakes would produce noise when applied, and also there would be reduced brake system performance and the need for a longer distance to stop the vehicle. Hmmm, no brake pads might do that. GM didn't even know about it until an owner complained of the car’s brake noise and brought the car to a dealership.
