Mother's Day Conundrum - Will Gays Demand Parent's Day?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Today is Mother's Day. Father's Day is coming up pretty quick. In a world where secularists push pluralism and relativism, I wonder how long before the gay community begins crying that Mother's Day and Father's Day is discriminatory against their drive for gender neutrality?  Will gays demand Parent's Day?

It amazes me that gays demand rights for things like marriage, of which they ridiculed only decades before. Remember? They claimed marriage was a dying institution, and that the community is the family. They now demand the "right" to marry, and adopt children.

The argument is that they should have the same rights as heterosexuals, but in reality, homosexuals are demanding these so-called rights in order to destroy marriage, and destroy the family unit. They believe in gender neutrality, and communitarianism.

Now, they have Obama in their corner, claiming he's now in favor of gay marriage when before he was not. He evolved, is the claim.

Obama, I believe, defined marriage as being between a man and a woman in 2008 for the votes. Now, he thinks society has changed its mind. Besides, he has been dissing his precious gay constituency and he's trying to reel them back in.

The fact is, Obama is going to lose a lot of votes over this. Remember that in California, a very liberal State, when the black community came out in droves to vote for Obama in 2008, they also voted in favor of protecting the definition of marriage by approving Proposition 8. The black voters that were in Obama's corner may not necessarily be ready to jump over to the GOP, but they may be willing to throw their hands up in 2012 and not vote at all.

Obama's in trouble, and that is why he is reaching out to his fringe liberal base. . . but in the process of gaining a few votes, he is losing many more.
