Obama's Gay Marriage Stance Mobilizes Christian Vote

By Douglas V. Gibbs

President Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage is energizing Christian conservative support for Mitt Romney in a way that the likely GOP nominee has so far not been able to do on his own, according to religious leaders and activists.

What did the democrats think was going to happen?

The black vote, which Obama felt was in the bag, is among those votes he is losing. In California, despite voting for Obama, the black vote also supported Proposition 8, and helped it pass easily. The proposition defines marriage as between a man and a woman.

Obama's attempt to gain the small gay vote may have lost him much bigger numbers in the long run.
