From the beginning it was known that the 9/11 Anniversary attack against the U.S. Consulate in Benghzi, Libya where four Americans were killed, including the ambassador, was a terror attack, not a demonstration over a video, by everyone but the ones trying to cover-up the failure of their policies. In other words, the Democrats would not benefit if a terror attack, led by al-Qaeda, was to blame for killing Americans in Libya after they claimed al-Qaeda died with Osama bin-Ladin, and that Libya was becoming a democratic nation thanks to the Obama-inspired (their claim, not mine) Arab Spring.
The truth has surfaced, and everything the liberal left has been pushing has turned out to be a fantasy.
McClatchy has produced a story saying that the attack on Benghazi was a terror attack, and the Obama administration purposefully covered up the terror aspect of the attack, concocting the video story to hide the fact that it has been a disaster following our military operations removing Moammar Khadafy from power. Rather than send Libya into a direction of American-like democracy (we are not a democracy, and Muslims are not capable of such a system due to the theocratic nature of their system - but bear with me here), Benghazi has become an al-Qaeda stronghold. The liberal democrats believe their own B.S., and that the death of Osama bin-Ladin equaled no more al-Qaeda and no more terrorism. The Leftists are unwilling to recognize this is not about terror groups as much as it is about Islamism. The terror attack did not fit into their version of things, so they sought to cover it up. They created the story about a video that had nearly no hits way back in June when it hit You Tube, and nobody in the Middle East even knew about, to make the death of the ambassador and three other Americans fit their script. They hid Ambassador's Stevens' cries for more security, they hid the terrorism nature of the attack, and instead claimed it was all America's fault, and more specifically, the fault of some obscure filmmaker who made a spoof of the life of Muhammad. The Democrat Party's story is that Libya has been cleaned up, evil Khadafy is gone, Obama made Libya a part of the Arab Spring. . . What happened is Khadafy is gone, and Islamism has filled the void. Al-Qaeda is still around, and has established a stronghold in Benghazi.
The American Intelligence Community knew immediately that what was going on at our facilities throughout the Middle East at our diplomatic locations was a terror attack, and no video was to blame for it. There was no fault of a video, and there was no spontaneous demonstration, it was all a pre-meditated terror attack against embassies and consulates denied more protection by the Obama administration. The State Department knew the truth immediately. The White House knew the truth immediately. But the truth did not fit in with their narrative, so Jay Carney started a lie under the orders of President Barack Hussein Obama. Then Susan Rice doubled down on it, and before we knew it, for two weeks, while everyone knew it was a terror attack, the Obama administration blamed the deaths in Benghazi on a video - and the obedient liberal press followed along. They were lying to prevent people from connecting the dots that Obama's actions in Libya created the void that ushered in al-Qaeda's presence in Benghazi. Obama did not make the Middle East a better place, but was a direct cause of making Libya more dangerous, and giving al-Qaeda an opportunity to create a beachhead in Benghazi.
The government in Tripoli, if you can call it that, has no control over Benghazi. It belongs to al-Qaeda. The Democrats covered that up, and now Obama is going so far as calling the deaths in Benghazi "not optimal." The President's ideology of "if we are just friends with them they will be nice to us" has blown up in our faces. The "America is to blame" ideology has failed. Obama has been prancing around claiming that the War on Terror is over, and that al-Qaeda is defeated, and now they have to do all they can to protect that story. A terror attack that brutally kills four Americans, including an ambassador, does not sit well with that fantasy the Democrats are trying to foment, so rather than recognize reality, they did what they could to hide the truth in order to keep their misguided version of the world in place. And what is worse, I think Obama actually believes his fantasies. He lives in a bubble. In his bubble he is thinking like a Beatles Song. "All we need is love. . . all we need is love."

Reality is harsh. The truth is terrorism continues to exist, and the Arab Spring is not a democratic outgrowth. That reality threatens to burst Obama's bubble, so they try to cover-up the truth (in a sense putting their fingers in their ears and yelling, "la-la-la-la-la, I can't hear a thing going on out there!"
And all of this right before a National Security debate against Mitt Romney.
