Federal Government Eyes Confiscating Individual Retirement Account Funds and 401(k)s to Pay for Portions of their Spending Addiction

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Federal employees pensions are fully funded and not threatened, yet those of you that have been responsible to save up for your own retirement are under fire.  In addition to demanding higher taxes, and go after private property, the democrats have now decided that your retirement savings belongs to them, as well.  Right now they are only going after the rich, but that is only step one.  It is another form of redistribution, to take away from people who are successful, and maintain their own retirement accounts.  This kind of responsibility and failure to be dependent upon the federal government just can't be tolerated by these "professional politicians."

The federal government lackeys don't see our dire economic condition as being one that is a debt problem.  They don't even think they are spending enough.  Besides, government believes the money belongs to them, so how is it wrong (in their minds) for them to confiscate funds from you when it is their money in the first place?  They spend a lot, and if they spend more than they have, they simply take more from you.

The problem is, taxation and going after corporations isn't enough.  They are still short by quite a bit, so it is time to go after the rich people's wealth, not just their income.  Government is now ready to drain IRAs, and 401(k)s.  The economic condition of our nation has to be fixed by spending more money, they claim.  Never mind living within our means.  Not government,.

Retirement is something that they believe is costing them money.  We put our money into these retirement plans, so that we can relax tomorrow.  But our well-planned decisions are only untapped reservoirs of wealth to the government.  It is money they can seize, they believe, that can be confiscated to help fix the problems they have created.

Retirement plans hold a lot of cash.  These accounts are not unfunded like federal pensions.  People own them, and the money is there.  And they believe the tax protections these accounts receive is lost dollars.  It's not fair, they are surely ready to say.  After all, not everyone can afford to have a retirement account, so how dare you rich people set aside money that should go to the poor.

They won't just take it, though. They will claim they will manage your accounts, ensure you still get your money for retirement, but they just need to use the money for now, to get past this crisis.  Don't worry, the government will give your money back.

In the end, they will raid Social Security until it is gone, and suck out the innards of all retirement accounts.  This is what they do. They steal from the successful and responsible to use it for their own ends.  If the government was a private entity, each and every one of those knuckleheads would be in prison.

And then after they take the retirement savings, there will also be the coming Alternative Minimum Tax that's gonna be applied to even more people.

They want to grab the last of the capital out of capitalism. They're making a play for your retirement savings now, and in the end will zero in on our regular savings, too.
