Zimmerman Trial Violence Downplayed, As Is The Racism

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Among the fears surrounding the Zimmerman Trial, the fear that there would be nationwide race riots was quite real.  Fortunately, the intensity of the rallies and protests have not reached such a crescendo.  However, it is being reported by most media outlets that these "in the street reactions" to the verdict that found George Zimmerman innocent of the murder of Trayvon Martin, determining it was indeed self-defense as Zimmerman has voiced, have been largely peaceful.

The protests have been more peaceful, than violent, but that does not mean that there has not been any flag burning, looting, and damage to private property and businesses.

While you were sleeping, some of the violence appeared.  A few of the rallies demanding justice for Trayvon became more than just rallies.

Protests in cities nationwide, some over a thousand people, and some very small, ranged from peaceful, to out of hand.  In Los Angeles police were forced to fire bean-bags and rubber bullets at protesters.  In Oakland windows have been broken, fires lighted, and graffiti sprayed.

On Fox News this morning one individual claimed that this is the result of the worsening of racism.

Wait, I thought Obama was the post-racial president?  I thought he was supposed to unite us.  Could his use of race to further his political agenda be creating division?

The most interesting, and disappointing, part of it all is that while creating racial division, his regime has found a way to place blame for it on whites, republicans, and anyone else that dares oppose his agenda.

The woman was right.  Racism has worsened.  But that racism is being funneled from Obama, and through the black community.

In other words, the ones that claim that only "rich whitey" can be racist, are overflowing with racism themselves.
