On my Facebook a follower out of Menifee asked me Online, and by voice message on my phone, about the details of my arrest, and how it came to be that I got into a fight with an atheist. I denied not only the part about getting into a fight with an atheist, but even knowing about the story in the first place that seems to be making its rounds. Her husband told her he heard about it on the radio, and immediately asked himself, "How many Douglas V. Gibbs's can there be?"
I laughed it off, and figured it was a case of mistaken hearing by the gentleman that heard about me getting into a tussle with a loud-mouthed atheist.
Then, this morning, an old friend of mine, who lives in Riverside, and who is completely unrelated to the woman that had first contacted me, asked me the same question.
I searched all over the Internet for this alleged tale of me and an atheist, but found nothing. So, if the story that is not true is true, it never made it Online.
Is this a case of a radio guy saying something to see if it grows legs? Has the radio community decided that since I am running for Congress it is time to start negative attacks against me? Perhaps this is just a case of two people who don't know each other hearing the same news story, and assumed it was me when it wasn't?
This is getting curiouser and curiouser.
To set the record straight, the atheist I battle with the most is my cousin, and we don't even live in the same country. She's in Italy. I have a good friend who is a communist and an atheist that lives in France, and he and I battle often, as well, but all of our fighting is done Online. I am definitely one that does not shy away from a terse conversation about religion and politics, but I am not one that believes "he who shouts loudest wins," nor am I one to let such a silly argument go to blows. "It is a free country," I like to tell people, "and you have the freedom to be wrong."
They, of course, think that I am wrong as well.
You see, that is the beauty of America. We can disagree, and nobody gets arrested. . . unless you are arguing with a Muslim or a homosexual. They are pushing for anyone that disagrees with them to be punished by the law.
They call disagreeing with those folks a "Hate Crime."
Not here, not me, not yet. So, do not be sorrowed, for I am walking free and easy. . . for now.

Nobody is perfect and as such, legit disagreements that aren't hateful in content are bound to happen. No one person, whatever their station in this society or the title/rank/etc they hold can excuse them from this.
Enough is enough!
You're running for office against the California Dumbocrat machine. Expect a whole lot more of this!
