Defensive End Michael Sam of Missouri was selected 249th overall by the St. Louis Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft. Normally, a 7th round draft pick does not get much coverage. 7th round draft picks don't make headlines. But Michael Sam publicly announced he is a homosexual, and suddenly he's a big story.
The debate has been, "Why was Sam chosen 8th to last? Was it because he's gay?" Of course that kind of rhetoric is going to rise from the arm pit of society. If anything, homosexuals have proven they love to be victims, they love to cry foul, and they love to do whatever they can to get attention in order to push forward their agenda.
Some sports analysts have wondered if Michael Sam will even make the Rams' roster. Before the player's announcement he's gay, analysts believed he'd be taken in the later rounds of the draft, anyhow. Making a general statement, as some are, that Sam was 249th overall because he's gay is irresponsible. Who cares? It's football. Can he do the job? Can he play the game? He could hang upside down in his bedroom at night like a bat for all I care. Do I think homosexuality is a sinful behavior? Sure. And I will say so. But I have a problem with the fact that people lie sometimes. That doesn't mean I "hate" them, even though I think their lies are bad behavior.
Oh, and one more thing. How come Michael Sam is called courageous because he announced he likes to hop in the sack with men, but Tim Tebow was crucified anytime he made mention of his Christianity?
Selective admiration and disdain, based on the NFL's liberal elite and media.
