Reagan vs Obama @ Normandy

by JASmius

Do you want to know how far America has fallen?

Thirty years ago....:

....and today:

Social media users tore into Barack Obama on Friday after the US president was seen chewing gum during solemn ceremonies to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

People took to Twitter to denounce Obama's "shameful" and "vulgar" chewing, with one user attacking him as a "lout."

"Obama do you want a Coke too while chewing gum while the Marseillaise is being played?" said toto_des_bois, referring to the French national anthem.

"The Queen arrives and you have Obama chewing gum, #DDay70" said diminou, another Twitter user.

Why didn't he show up in tank top, Daisy Duke cutoffs, and flip-flops while he was at it?  Are we to be relieved because he wasn't blowing bubbles?  And if it was nicotine gum he was chewing, wouldn't just sucking on a Winston (or whatever brand he smokes) have been more dignified?  Or, hell, toking an a reefer, since that would have been more honest?

That's what the commander-in-chief thinks of the Greatest Generation, ladies and gentlemen.  Or the same thing he thinks of every veteran of every war before and since, up to and including the ones he's personally "ended".  Unless they're homosexual, transgendered, or think like "Sergeant" Bowe Bergdahl, that is.

And there are people who wonder why I say the Old Republic is dead.

Exit question: Was O playing Galaga on his I-phone during the ceremony?  I couldn't tell.
