Border Crisis Is "Existential Threat" To U.S.

by JASmius

Don't believe us?  Take it from the man with the stars on his shoulders:

The United States' neglect of its southern border has created a threat that challenges the country's national security, says the general in charge of overseeing the region, and he is concerned that terrorists and others can exploit the vulnerabilities that have been created.

"In comparison to other global threats, the near collapse of societies in the hemisphere with the associated drug and [undocumented immigrant] flow are frequently viewed to be of low importance," Marine Corps General John Kelly, commander of U.S. Southern Command, told Defense One. "Many argue these threats are not existential and do not challenge our national security. I disagree."...

As much of a threat as the influx of a hundred thousand illegals, mostly children, pose to the nation in terms of economic impact, partisan demographic attacks in currently "red" states and enclaves (like Murrieta, California), and the potential for disease pandemics - none of this particularly "compassionate," incidentally - that may not even be the most dangerous part of this invasion:

But it's not only children coming north. Kelly said that last year, his task force was not able to act on almost 75% of illegal trafficking incidents.

"Last year, we had to cancel more than two hundred very effective engagement activities and numerous multilateral exercises," Kelly told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee in March, his command's website reports. "I simply sit and watch it go by. And because of service cuts, I don't expect to get any immediate relief, in terms of assets, to work with in this region of the world.”

Kelly told Defense One that the area has turned into a "crime-terror convergence," that is only becoming worse.
"All this corruption and violence is directly or indirectly due to the insatiable U.S. demand for drugs, particularly cocaine, heroin and now methamphetamines,” Kelly told Defense One, "all of which are produced in Latin America and smuggled into the U.S. along an incredibly efficient network along which anything — hundreds of tons of drugs, people, terrorists, potentially weapons of mass destruction or children — can travel, so long as they can pay the fare." [emphases added]

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and an Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

- Article IV, Section IV.

Or at least, "the United States" used to do these things, when it had a governing Constitution, instead of a despotic, occupying junta.

So what we have here is an Obama Regime that is retreating from our enemies not just across the globe, but within our own borders as well.  And when local citizens try to step in and do something to protect their communities, the Obama Regime sends an "Application of the Executive" against them:

As illegal immigrants continue to spill across the U.S.-Mexico border, federal authorities are attempting to relocate the migrants from South Texas to housing facilities in states across the nation. One such facility is located in Murrieta, California, where a large group of protesters recently blocked a bus full of migrants from arriving. The protesters remain there, adamant that illegal immigrants don't get dumped in their town. But soon the concerned citizens may be forced to step down--Breitbart Texas has learned that federal agents plan to arrive in Murrieta on Monday with riot gear to ensure that another busload makes it to the housing facility.

Jeremy Oliver, a resident of Temecula, California - a town that neighbors Murrieta - told Breitbart Texas that local police officers warned the protesters that "it's going to get ugly." [emphasis added]

In last fall's Shutdowngeddon we reached the point where ordinary American citizens had to subject themselves to incarceration for civil disobedience to a tyrannical government that was trampling on their rights and civil liberties (Remember the Barry-cade incidents?).  Have we now arrived at the point where ordinary American citizens are going to have to sacrifice life and limb to protect their communities from that same tyrannical government?

In five hours and twenty five minutes, we'll have our answer.
