Barack Obama: American President? Or Great Muslim Protector?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Over the years there have been rumors that Obama is sympathetic to political Islam, and there is a strong belief among many of his critics that he is a practicing Muslim engaging in taqiyya in order to ensure the promotion of Islam.  Often, his statements and actions support these accusations.

Allen West in a recent article, Obama: Muslims have built the very fabric of our nation. Such as?, writes, "One of the things I enjoy about this website is the opportunity to educate, edify, and challenge us all to think beyond the obvious. Now I realize some folks are — as we say in the military — 'stuck on stupid' and it will take longer to get them with the program. But it is a challenge I accept.

"So, in that light, I’d like to invite you to scour the annals of American history in order to respond to President Barack Hussein Obama’s recent assertion that Muslims have contributed 'to building the very fabric or our nation.'"

In reality, Islam was not influential in the composition of the fabric of the founding of the United States, and as a matter of fact, the first two international wars we fought were against Islam (Barbary Wars under Presidents Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison - 1801-05 and 1815 against the Islamic powers of North Africa).  Indeed, as some opponents to the United States Constitution may point out, Mr. Jefferson owned a Koran.  He owned the Muslim holy book not because he was sympathetic to Islam, however, but because he desired to learn more about his enemy.  Muslim pirates were shutting down our trade routes, taking captive our sea-going personnel, often times making those people slaves, and the Muslim nations of the Barbary Coast were requiring ships to pay tribute to the Islamic caliphate in order to navigate the waters the Barbary pirates claimed as their own.

I must add that not only did we go to war against the Muslims of the Barbary Coast, but both wars were undeclared, revealing the urgency and immediate necessity of the conflicts.

Now, not only is President Obama claiming Islam had a great impact on the founding of this nation (in line with the propaganda inspired teachings of history through Common Core), while ignoring the Christian and Jewish contributions so glaringly evident in history that has not been revised by the liberal left ideologues of academia, but now he is being careful not to be too aggressive against the Muslim slaughter going on in Iraq, and he is on yet another vacation.
